Right. I'd never drift while actually trying for good lap times. I was just trying it for fun when I realized they had a traction control off option.
Ah, okay. I get ya now. Yeah, tried that a few times. Didn't work. Bit like every time I tried it in reality
It wasn't a complete failure. I was definitely drifting. Or powersliding at least. Just couldn't get it sliding long enough, fast enough, or around corners well enough to be of any use. Bit like every time I've tried it in reality.
I just logged onto this site for the first time in years to say that what a fabulous piece of shit the last update of Real Racing 3 is! Confusing new menu, with bloody ads all over the place, the cool individual pieces of wear and tear of the car is gone (one of the most interesting features of the game reduced to a single stat money grab) and the performance on my iPad 2 is not smooth anymore! Also, are the drive tickets new? Ugh! EA feels a compulsion to ruin everything that's good, don't they? Either way, this just can't stand. How do I downgrade? I unfortunately haven't synched my iPad with a computer at any point, so where do I get the previous version of the game? Can anyone who have a time machine backup perhaps post it on their dropbox or something? Thanks!
There's no way to roll back unless you have the previous version backed up to your own computer with your own iTunes account. Also, if you have a current cloud save (v1.2), that save won't work with older versions. So your progress will not restore. V1.3 is currently being developed so I would recommend waiting for that if you have a problem with this version as rebalancing is ongoing. Also, I don't know where all the ads you reference are, I've never seen them.
Don't really like the menu either. and that scheme of things is far too horrible for starters. If you're not a starter you can't complain though.
Statement: Ever since RR1, drifting has always been a noisy way to slow down, without much fanfare... Confession: If you happen to upgrade to increase the traction (which I do stupidly for one car), drifting may work but it is till best to brake fully before entering a bend. Analog-sic pedal control is do-able but only one game implements this, which is a shame. Statement: I am one with MT, but the way touch control is implemented, it give bad UX for smaller devices -- so iCade support is your friend! Statement: Even though there has been tons of complaints over Collin McRae Rally thread (my main gripe is no cockpit view), I have deleted RR3 in favor.
This game is starting to feel as if it is another Nfs shift 2 unleashed. The only difference is the realism of driving. The new menu is ok but being forced to purchase unnessary cars to progress is ridiculous. How much must I play this game in order to have upgraded all my cars to max?
I've been playing this somewhat regularly since it hard launched, and I have to say, it's one of the fairest implementations of freemium I've seen on the AppStore. I know that's not a popular stance to take on this game judging from the insane backlash at launch and after every subsequent update, but I've never felt even the tiniest squeeze to buy any IAP. Most cars seem to be within reach and I've never consciously had to grind. I just try to get more gold medals in more races and the cash seems to flow pretty regularly. I don't even have that many GC friends who are active enough for me to profit from (and one is Rip, who I never get bonuses from because he's a wizard). I don't know. Most freemium games I'll play for a week until I hit that paywall and I'm forced to stop or pay up. I don't doubt RR3 might have one too, but I've been playing for months and months without even a hint of one. Other recent absurdly generous freemium games that come to my mind are Robot Unicorn Attack 2 and Dead Ahead, which are both amazing games, but I quickly "beat" them and ran out of content. With RR3, I feel like I still have many more months of enjoyment ahead. Sincerely, EA employee- uhhhh, I mean, sweetdiss.
Thank you. Wizard, I dunno about that. Probably just too much time on my hands and actually enjoy the game. I 100% agree with everything you said there and I have to say its a relief to actually read someone with the same view because I thought I was in the minority or just reading the whole thing wrong. The enormous backlash at each upgrade has me genuinely confused because the dev team is actually listening to feedback and trying to implement structure, balancing and features that their community is requesting. And still they get hammered despite a strong effort to do their best and give people what they've asked for. The instant repair being the most obvious example of that considering the huge number of people that wanted it. Even to the extent that the latest update massively reduced the actual amount of in game cash one has to spend on servicing and repairs. The race winnings may have been reduced but overall actual profit, when balanced against the cost of service and service of cars is most certainly up. Well, at least in my case but I drive pretty clean most of the time. Except when I get an urge to just "tap" someone out and watch the resulting chaos in a group . Which is most certainly entertaining I have to guiltily admit to. Expensive yes, but nudging a car in the middle of a group and watching it take out the four others that surrounded it was definitely one of my highlights of last week. On a serious note, there's a bug with the track detection for clean racing bonus (its not detecting all the clean race lines properly) and the friend bonus was affected in a way they weren't expecting with v1.2 (something to do with multiplier or percentage reduction, can't remember exactly). They are addressing both issues and they will be fixed with v1.3. And they do have more content coming in v1.3. I don't quite know what it is but "significant" is is the term that got used. So those many more months of enjoyment you referred may turn out to be substantially more than just months. Again, thanks for that post, its genuinely nice to see a similar view to my own on this one. As for the "EA employee", I think you're safe here, those plant accusations only seem to fly around on their own forum when someone is positive about the game.
I'm glad you agree! You are one of the only TA people I ever added to my GC in large part because of all the times I see you jump in to a freemium/premium discussion and insert some rare but much needed sanity and perspective. I also agree about the updates. I actually had to stop playing for a month or two because of the crazy endurance times people were getting. No amount of upgrading and airplane-mode-ing was helping and it was preventing me from getting 100% on almost every series, which was incredibly frustrating. Just a week or so ago after the Time Trial update I came back and it seems they had fixed the endurance time thing at some point and added a bunch of other tweaks (like streamlining the repairs and career menu) and I've been racing nonstop since. It was already a great game, and they keep making it better and better. I even like the "bad" things they added, like locking cars until you've progressed enough and forcing you to upgrade your PR before doing some races. It seems to give it a more traditional video gamey structure and gives me clearer goals to work toward. As for racing clean, I love that the game rewards you for it but I almost always get nothing. I'm not that great at the game, unfortunately, and I sometimes use the cars in front of me as breaks and frequently cut very deep grassy corners to win. : ) But even with driving like a maniac and having to repair every 2 or 3 races, I still feel the game is generous. Which leads me to my theory about why people seem to immediately hate this game. I can imagine a lot of people (who are probably already mad at the game for going freemium) try a race or two after booting the game up and thinking, "What?! The car I want costs 120,000 bucks and all I'm getting for these races is 2 or 3 thousand?! This will take YEARS to get all the cars I want!" They don't realize you get way more cash for unlocking new tiers, leveling up, progressing through a series, friend bonuses, time trial bonuses, daily bonuses, etc... Not to mention smartly deciding when to buy cars so you can save money. Anyway, I hate to fan the flames of the RR3-Freemium debate, but I honestly believe this is one of the best iOS games ever made and significantly improves on the previous, already great games in the series. Would it be better if it was premium? Maybe. But it's not, and they did a damn good job with it. I'm glad to have you as an ally, even though you kick my butt in every time trial. See you at the next meeting in the EA conference room buddy!
I think the new menu is only confusing because it's different. Once I started exploring it, I quickly figured it out - they basically just made it horizontal instead of vertical and tiered it (amateur, pro-am, pro, etc.). Aside from that, it's the same. I partially agree about the repairs - it was a unique feature that added a sense of realism. However, in the end, it was largely just a bunch of button tapping (honestly did anyone ever only repair some things instead of all/none?). I always repaired the surface stuff after every race and then repaired the critical parts as needed. It amounts to the same thing I think for most players - just fewer actions needed. Don't know about the performance - haven't seen any changes on my iphone 5. I think the drive tickets are new, but they only apply to the (also new) time trials. So they don't really affect the rest of the game. It's just an additional feature (and yes, an additional place to spend money). Finally, what ads? There aren't any ads. Maybe you're seeing the promotional box at the beginning of the menu that shows off new sales, etc.? Not really any different, just separated and highlighted more. Overall I think the update is fine. Some additions I do like are the improved AI and the rewards for clean driving (heh, not that I've earned many ).
Have we been cheated? After you finish a race and get the earned r$, clean bonus r$ then last is friend bonus. After friend bonus when you look at your total r$ to date you will see a subtraction to your total r$ after the fame points... Is this a glitch that needs to be fixed or are we being cheated?
I have noticed the same thing myself I believe it is the good ol' repairs; if it's that then your cash shouldn't be subtracted if your clean race bonus is >0.
Sweet and Rip, I definitely agree with you both. This in my opinion is one of the best ever racers on iOS. You should have seen the backlash to the latest update on the FiteMonkeys forum. People were back to original release ranting proportions, I love the update, for me the time trials meant I could significantly up my gold coins by re completing series...and I actually feel like I am earning R$ faster than previously. I have said it before, but despite its flaws, I cannot put this game down. I have probably played this more than all my other games combined!
Being cheated? No. Why on earth they would bother or consciously cheat a few Rs. Its a glitch. Simple as that. Not everyone has it and it doesn't seem (and I'll emphasise "seem") to happen if you just tap through at the end of the race rather than letting everything tot up. They are well aware of it but have not traced the cause of it or what it actually does because it seems to overpay the clean race bonus when it happens and the loss of Rs at the end could be the repair bill from the clean race bonus that previously didn't get deducted. So its a glitch. Saw that reaction. Didn't like it. Left. They were very personal and disrespectful to a real good guy in the new administrator (a real nice guy and a proper hardcore gamer) as well which I very much didn't like considering his doing his very best in dealing with a lot of difficult reaction. The ranting and raging and trolling was simply disgraceful. But, I agree on the Rs. My profit margin is substantially increased because of the new repairs coming out of the clean race bonus and reduction on servicing. That Agera or Zonda was costing me a mint to race and repair. Not now. Plus they did reduce the cost of completing a service gold wise in a big way. Upgrades are still a bit expensive but, hey, freemium has to come in there somewhere. Its a much more profitable racing now. And once that raving line bug is fixed, the clean race shall start netting some good cash. Oh and its worth noting on the time trials that there's a 5000 bonus for beating your previous time. Might be for top ten on friends list or something like that, not too sure. But I get that bonus a lot. I do seem to be getting in the top 5% a lot though and I haven't even that many upgrades on the cars. I've only a few class B's and the rest are generally D, no A's. Its very handy when I do a bad lap and then beat it. Oh and me and Sweet have one more for the meeting thanks. Its feeling less lonely there now.
It is a huge drop in rewards with huge increase in cost. I just got 34k for one 8 minute race in the first build version. I cannot earn that much now. And I need it far more now in 1.2 than I did in 1.0. The cost inflation is why people are able to get refunds from Apple for Rbucks and gold bought.
Apple will only tolerate that for so long before the emerging pattern will put an end to that. You can trust me 100% on that one. All your seeing with any of those refunds is excellent customer on Apples part. Don't think for a minute that once a pattern emerges because a forum is unhappy and using it to troll and punish the developer that it won't come to an end. It will. And just in relation to a huge increase in cost, you couldn't be more wrong. Servicing a car fully now costs less than a door used to on a Zonda. Increase in costs is totally ungrounded.
