Thanks, I figured as much... but I thought I'd rather not run down my car faster than I already do.

As for braking around corners... well, not only do I hate braking in games, I don't particularly like the way you break in RR3. So I'm probably never going to place on any leaderboards, but that hardly bothers me.

Way beyond "game". Learn this well because it is the way it's done in the analog world too. :)

The key is to NEVER brake in the corner, rather brake BEOFRE the corner and accelerate through. Another analog world trick.

Wrong. The correct rule accepted in circuit racing (such as F1, GT etc) is that two wheels must be on the black stuff on all times, not the green marking. If you have all four wheels off the black tarmac while taking a corner (i.e. cutting through the inside), then you are considered to have gained an unfair advantage.

In F1, if that occured during qualifying, your time would be wiped off. In the F1 race, if you overtook with all four wheels off the track you need to give back your position.

This applies to cutting corners...if you exit a corner with all four wheels on the curbing, it is OK.

I just launched the game and got pushed a 2mb update on the loading screen. I wonder what's been changed?

Ok, so I think the cash rewards have increased either back to what they were, or very close to. I just did a race where I think was originally paying about $15 000, then after ther last update was down to about $7000, just now I got $13 000. I'm not 100% sure ( can't clearly remember) but I think that's the case. Although one 4 lap race of Suzuka in the GTR Premium and ALL the service bars emptied.

Also just noted, I completed a time trial of Mount Panorama in the Ford GT. the track has absolutely NO sponsor signage anywhere... Kinda weird!

I compare the initial build prizes with the new build prizes and report back when I get back from work.

ABE: I know this is not a perfect analysis but placing 11th:

New build Turbo burst pre season cup race 3: Fame=360, $4930 (with 100% first race bonus)

Old build Turbo burst pre season cup race 3: Fame=360, $3500

    Both had 4 friends bonus.

But if there is still a 10 friends max this will obviously be worse if I did better. The bots in the new build were behaving as if they wanted to win.

I also went a few races with none friend bots and was jostling for 3rd place for a whole lap and I only managed to place 2nd twice. It could just be me but I was also spinning out more if I was lazy breaking (but that could just be because I had to be more aggressive to place.

Seems as if they difficulty may be back...

    What do you mean.

Try using the manual acceleration if you aren't already. That auto accelerate is a joke.

The problem with using manual acceleration, and any kind of analog steering is that it requires having my thumbs somewhere on the screen at all times. Also, as this is a touch device, I just can't get into more advanced controls like on a console.

I'm not at all into real world racing, and I'm definitely not a car guy, so a lot of this game's finer points are probably lost on me. I'm definitely more into Mario Kart where braking is not really a thing.

Maybe I'll give it a shot later on, but I've progressed farter than I thought I would, so we'll see.

Also, I just did a grand prix race at Suzuka Circuit, and Jesus Christ that was boring. I was in first within about 30 seconds, and it was a lonely drive for the next 12 minutes.

This is un comfirmed but over at the official forum someone has reported that an auto update for non 1.2 builds is occurring.

I'm strictly staying off wifi till I know more about this.

If it is true it's crazy. I'm doing my best to carry on playing but FM seems intent on making it harder and harder to play this game.

Its crazy because it ain't true.
On Android, there's an auto update option attached to the store in general and each app specifically.
There's also only over wifi and other options.

Someone ticked the wrong box, its a simple as that. There's no conspiracy.

On iOS, those options are not even there yet. And when they are on iOS 7, there's a very easy "never" option under auto update.

Don't believe everything you read. Its not always 100% the truth.

Yeah, a few more posts later I got the impression it was for Android and you've confirmed it: I was jumping at shadows :)

Thinking about it I was even reading how iOS 7 had auto updates but did not put the two together (feeling a bit of clod, right now).

    Cheers for putting me straight.

    Not to worry.
    Simple misunderstanding.
Considering the tone and reaction on that forum, I can see how it happened.
There is a tad bit of raging and over reaction going on. :)

And cheers for your extremely polite reply. Very nice of ya.

I've given up drifting. I got it working, but the game is obviously designed to prevent it. So whatever.

    You're correct.
Drifting is very much not part of the game.
It scrubs quite a lot of speed off and badly affects lap times.
To be fair, it does the same in real life anyway. Or at least it does in Formula racing and with most stock road cars.
Grip is the key in this one.
