Just updated it. It's stuck at the loading screen!! iPad Mini here. Edit: Nevermind, the loading screen took an awful lot of time, but it's working now!
iPad 3 here. Still chugs on menu when Game Centre is running but races are smooth. I'm happy with tis update.
Game Impressions Great update. Gives a new feel to the game. Main menu has completely changed. Instead of scrolling vertically for events, you now scroll horizontally through events, and there are some new events too. The main menu may seem a bit off at first, but I think it looks better than before. Time trials isn't what everyone is hoping for. You can't race in time trials anytime you want. There is a new "DRIVE" meter that only has 2 bars, each time trial takes 1 bar, and each bar takes 15 minutes to refill back. Increasing your DRIVE bar to 5 bars requires 50 gold! The DRIVE bar is only required for time trials, so you can still drive any other races at any time you want. But overall, time trials is a disappointment. Servicing also got a change. All servicing has now merged into one bar, so no need for any frequent oil change, and you only have to service your car when the bar goes down below into the bad condition area. I think this is a good step towards easier servicing for cars, so more races. As for game performance, the game looks the same on iPad Mini. However, frame rate was been way improved! Thanks Firemonkeys, the game is so much more smoother now. And oh ya, there are some new Mercs and Bentleys.
Bear in mind the TSM servers are under massive loads right now with the update. This will only be temporary. But there is pressure under friends lists loading and similar things so tonight would not be the time to go farming for money. It'll settle in pretty quickly so I'm only saying it to be cautious for those that need to earn off their friends list because the lists are generating slower because of the server loads. On another note, there's a 10 gold bonus for updaters as far as I know. Its a pretty big over haul. And just a note on the time trials. There is a drive setting in there. Drive basically reloads every 15 minutes. You have 2 drive points. And its one point per time trial. You can reload with 2 gold but I wouldn't bother, just do the time trials through normal career. The reason they are there, it seems, is because it is a global leaderboard and they want to avoid someone sitting down for two hours in a row just doing the same time trial and dominate the leaderboards. Of course there's a financial reason as well for the publisher, but the guys that actually programmed the game wanted to see a balance in the leaderboards it seems. I'm not sure its the best solution for everybody but it'll suit me better. And it has no impact on any of the other series. Its time trial only. There's also daily play bonuses. It goes on a percentage scale with the max being if you play five days in a row, you'll get 100% bonus Rs in each race. It starts at 20% for today, 40% (? I think) for tomorrow and so on. Don't forget the server loads are very high on TSM friends lists right now. But obviously, do play, it is a dramatic step up. Edit. Oh yeah, forgot to mention graphics are improved on high end devices. iPad 4/iPhone 5 users should see some subtle but very nice changes. Per-pixel shadowing basically. Edit 3. Anybody noticing loading screen very slow or results screen very slow, on time trials in particular, that again is the server loads on the tsm friends list. That will settle down to a proper speed relatively soon.
Definitely a solid improvement on the game.... money making is very reasonable... Introduced a new 'currency' for the time trials called 'drive' at 1 every 10 minutes or so but most of the horrendous endurance distances are gone for me ... AI is improved but still have been completely sideswiped by a car when doing a very clean overspeed on a straight so still tweaks possible. Overall ... i can see myself playing this a whole lot again
Is it just me or is everyone I'm driving agaisnt going 10 mph slower than me. I got the update and raced a few times, I got to first place in 30 seconds and even lapped a few people before the race was over! It was like they were all in slow motion, has this happened to anyone else or has EA done this to make the game easier?
Another neat thing in this update is the new "Per pixel Lightning" on high end devices. Anyone can see the difference?
I have to somewhat agree which makes me happy as I def feel like some of my cars are a bit faster it seems...

Statement: Sorry to rain on your parade, but I happen to note that Android gets this update as well...but I don't bother playing this on it...
Yeah, I find it looks a lot better. The detail is just better. (UE uses it as well I think) If you have a chance or the option, have two devices playing side by side with old and new versions. Its a bit hard to substantiate the amount of difference (you know its there but you're not quite sure what it is, if you know what I mean) until you've seen it that way. But once you have, its really quite impressive. It only applies to the iPad 4 and iPhone 5 as far as I know. I could be wrong on that one but I've only seen it run on a couple of iPad 4's.
I definitely noticed the races seem a lot easier since the patch. I lap at least two or three cars on 4 lap races. I like the new repairs in theory, but after my last race and crashing my R8 I now have to wait 2 hours for repairs.... They definitely nerfed repair timers. Graphics look good though... Just wish the timers weren't so rediculous.

Wow, I just looked at the FireMonkeys forums. People are really hating on this update. Reminiscent of when RR3 was first launched. To be honest I am really liking the update so far.
What an update. I can now lap cars and win by margins of over 90 seconds.... Before, it was maybe a lead of 300yds. They've replaced the drivers with grannies??? How is this a good thing? Destroyed it for me, I like a bit of a challenge.
