Looks like Dubai is going to be a sunset course. Thank god, the blue skies with the occasional cloud filling every track is boring. Still hoping for Ferrari pack, but not holding my breath.
Codemasters produced an awesome racing game a few years back called Race Driver: Grid for PS3, Xbox and PC. Grid 2 is the sequel and it looks unreal!!! Search grid 2 on YouTube. It comes out may 30 / 31 depending where you live. For me personally the first one was one of the greatest racing games on console, so I'm hoping 2 will be as well.
Pretty disappointed with this update: 1) We get teased with the announcement trailer, with Paganis, McLarens and the likes, running around the Dubai circuit, but then we can't race those cars in the track. Instead, we get a series with Chargers and IS-Fs, and a showcase event with the LFA. 2) The LFA costs 130 GC (nothing wrong with that), and it was added to the V10 Grand Open series. But since I had already completed that event, now I can't buy it with the regular 20% discount we get when we unlock a showcase event. 3) Where's the promised "twilight racing at the Dubai Autodrome"? It looks the same as Laguna Seca, I don't see any "twilight racing" there... It's always good getting new cars, a new track and (few) new events, but this update felt short on expectations. Edit: At least now we have a car for the ladies… The LFA is available in pink.
I haven't tested out the new stuff yet. I am dissapointed in other aspects of this game. 1. Too many jagged edge graphics. 2. Some rear view mirrors are heavily pixelated such as the BMW. 3. I see the ai going through turns at full speed when they are at a distance from me as if the developers think I would not notice. They do not break and take those sharp turns at full speed hense why you cannot catch up in this game. You will only see the ai breaking on heavy turns when they are at eyesight range hense why you can only catch up when they are near you. 4. The ai still follows a stupid driving pattern. Why can't they be more human like? I hate the fact they start driving into you as if you are a ghost. If they want to ram then make it obvious... But what they do is follow a stupid driving pattern which is so predictable. 5. Why is the starting take off of the game so easy to catch up and surpass the opponents but mid game you cannot do anything? Are they smoking joints during the take off? 6. Soon to delete this game if it continues
I was only refering to what's new in this update, regarding what was promised. 1, 2, 4 and 5 were already present in the previous update. I don't get #3. Regarding #6, that's your decision to make.
Not true, there are lots of people you pay atention to those things as well. But there are better places to make questions and ask for features than this forum...
The Dubai races seems to be either full sun or twighlight depending on the event. The big thing for me this update is that the Lexus needs lots of upgrades to be competitive from the get go (for me Anyway) and I notice with the new tiers you have to medal all events before the next set of races unlock.
It doesn't even sound like an LFA.. Actually any car sounds like the original one. I think RR2 had better engine sounds
Observations: since EA keeps on pumping new stuff in here, either EA is getting some fees from the car manufacturers (which is unlikely) or EA is getting some real good $$$ out of this. Statement: just updated but no time to try. Not really excited about the new track.
Has anyone got the Lexus LFA and finding it impossible to win the showcase in the V10 Grand Open? I have maxed out the exhaust, tyers and body plus other upgrades, and I am lucky if I can reach 5th or 6th place. Seems that it requires massive money spent on it to be competitive. I reckon I've spent about $200 000 on it and it still is a mid field runner in that event. Has the game been tweaked in order for upgrades to be more essential to be competitive?
For those who are deeper into this game than i am (im only 17% complete ) not had a proper chance to sit down and play, anyway more to the point, are there any tracks that take you through tunnels, up and down hilly mountains... Basically scenic type road tracks like Forza...or is it just stadium type GP tracks. And is the weather dynamic? I.e. sundown, rain ... Im hearing the latest Dubai update brings twilight racing...is this true?
There are some tracks that have scenic stretches (trees lining the road), but in general, no real scenic tracks and no dynamic weather. I'm with you there though - I'd love to have that stuff in the game. If you're really into that, check out Rally Master Pro. It's old as iOS games go (2009), but graphics hold up decently well (nothing like Real Racing of course). Tracks are all scenic, weather varies (though I can't remember if it's dynamic within a track), and good amount of content (including voiceovers from your driving partner). Of course, it's rally racing, so you're not going to get all the cool street cars you get in RR.
Thanks for the reply. Thats a real shame. Maybe they'll save that stuff for RR4.. So far im just finding the tracks and driving conditions a bit too samey, so its not giving me the thirst to keep coming back to play.
