Finally catch up with this thread again. Been a while.
    Reason: playing Real Racing 3.
Seriously... ever since the soft launch I have been playing nothing but Real Racing 3 on my iPad. And not just during commuting anymore, but also at home on the sofa for hours on end.
Missed the Spyder sale so now saving up for the Pagani Huayra. Hope I am in time, as I didn't play this weekend and currently up to 886K.

So far I've spent 43 hours on this game. 29% game completion and at level 56.
Love driving my Porsche cars (got 3 high end models) and my Audio R8 V10 coupe the most.

Does anyone know what the next sale will be by any chance?

I only experience frame skips when I am playing a song in the background and when the song track changes I notice a split second skip or freeze.
    iPhone 5 here.

    Wow. That's pretty amazing.

My only issues were occasionally on the Melbourne track. Sometimes I would get some frame skips on that one. It wasn't consistent, just every so often and it was usually worst during the straight near the end of the track where the little tight s turn is. I think that was the track I enjoyed the most (love city racing scenes). I never listen to music with the RR games... I like focusing on the engine & road sounds, so I wouldn't notice any hiccups there.

    ....

RR2 update? I posted one to the RR2 thread. But the gist is, 100% complete on the first 3 Circuits, 14% on the fourth. I plan on finishing the 4th tonight. 50% complete with the whole game already though with half of the cars owned. Great game. The AI is much more fun to race against.

  11. Yeah, ai is better in RR2 for sure, but the actual graphics and driving, I like better in RR3.

I don't find the driving that much different. The graphics, sure, RR3 has some impressive visuals, but I play games for gameplay and the AI is worth a lot more to me than the bump in graphics. But RR2 isn't (to me anyway) an ugly game. The locations have a lot of charm to them (helicopters flying overhead, tunnels, japanese lanterns, ...etc.. with a lot of fine details that I find to be still very nice to look at. It's really nice sometimes just to watch a replay of a race to take it all in from the different camera angles.

  13. Yeah, I agree with your points. But just wish RR3 would have been a better RR2 upgrade. Instead of the freemium wait timer hack and slash that it has become.

Would have been my favorite game ever, I am pretty sure. Too bad.

RR3 runs like tripe if you try to do anything else with your device, like airplay will choke it a little bit, HDMI will do it also, music changing in the background, any app which stays functional while in the tray, it's like real racing 3 uses 100% of what is there and anything else will effect it.

I hardly play this game any more, it's upsetting because I loved real racing 1 and 2, this game has just had the EA virus handed to it and it's not going to go away.

  15. I don't think hdmi adds any load to games at all. I've never noticed any in any game that I have played. RR3 plays great on my ipad 3 with or without hdmi.

You have iphone 5 hdmi which has airplay issues (lightning connector uses airplay hdmi, see the hdmi thread for more details), so there maybe some issues with this airplay stuff even with the hdmi connector.

Supposedly us non lightning connector hdmi users have true hdmi support not pseudo airplay hdmi support, so maybe you are seeing something different from us. Maybe those lightning connectors may add some kind of load to ios devices cause of the conversion to airplay instead of true hdmi.

I'm willing to bet you'd still find a way to complain.

~20 hours, 10 cars, still enjoying the game, still haven't felt like the timers are a hassle, still haven't felt like I need to spend money.

the only thing I feel like I could really complain about is the AI... or lack thereof. and even then it's not a deal breaker.

For those that raged against the freemium and think they need to spend real money to complete the game (or hack it to make it worse), thats its a money pit or the usual veracious hatred or illogical backlash that was thrown out, here's a very legitimate link that just proves that theory wrong.

100% complete, all cars bought with currency or gold earned in game. No iap bought
All cars are not upgraded but they didn't need to be and he makes that very clear.

Well done to Hannes for proving this to us.

And no he did not hack anything before anyone decides to accuse him of that, he is a very legitimate and trustworthy contributor on the Firemonkeys forum.

    http://forums.firemonkeys.com.au/showthread.php?3048-I%B4m-done-too-here-are-my-stats

Edit. He still does criticise the game very heavily but it does prove completion is possible without spending money.
As to his heavy criticism of the game, he is an RR2 multiplayer pro, so lots of what they wanted in the game (OMP, qualifying, replays, social interaction, etc, etc) isn't there and you can't please all the people all the time.

They didn't need to be, but he made it clear that it would be impossible with the earnings in the game to even upgrade the top 2 cars fully.

"of course to upgrade all cars is in no way doable, as you see i earned 1853 GoldCoins during the career...
these would not even be enough to fully upgrade both the top cars.
once career is over you are not gonna make alot of GC anymore.
so i dont consider this game to be really finishable .
    "

Amazing job though to get 100%.

And I got it! Had to save for the standard price in the end, I just couldn't wrestle the Huayra around quickly enough to compete with the Koenigseggs's and get to the discount event without spending a million to upgrade, so I just saved for the flat rate and hopefully this'll be the workhorse to get me to the Agera R. :)

  20. I don't think so, if you look at my posts, about 95% of the games I talk about I speak very highly of. Very highly with very few bad comments about. Sure there are some bad apples like this game or Chillingo's Catch the ark, but those things are more for greed issues not gameplay and such.

Usually I take offense to games that do bait and switch and add ads, freemium, or the such. This game it has been for the wait timers, super high inapp prices on cars, bad ai, no real multiplayer, lack of airplay support, people hacking his game to death, no icloud services considering this is a grinding and inapp game, and basically this let down almost all gamers on Toucharcade.

I know there are a couple of you pro developer types trying to hype this game, but heck, at some point you have to take your blinders off and be objective.
