I wonder if this is an iPhone 4 issue or maybe an iOS 5 issue? The AI does take a pretty close to perfect line, but if they did absolute perfect then I wouldn't be able to use the track to pass them with mostly unmodified cars. The AI never plays catchup with me. I've never seen a car try to make up time. I have had cars that could do better than me because I damaged my car so bad that it really shouldn't be going down the road still. That, is understandable. The faster cars too have no patience for a crippled car or a car that goes off roading and thus is slower than everything else out there. I wonder if the 4 just can't keep up with the 4S running this game or if being on iOS 6 is allowing some component of the game run at full speed while maybe the TSM is lagging behind other tasks processing while the game is running? I guess there's no answer for this but it would be interesting to hear if this is common amongst iPhone 4 users. I could borrow one of my kids iPodTouch 4's or my wifes iPhone 4 and see what kind of difference it makes in the game play side with the TSM.
My stats: Time Played: 20:47:51 Level 32 104/961, 10% completed 77-Gold/13-Silver/4-Bronze $243,560 in the Bank (saving for the Spyder Concept, but at this rate, I don't think I'll make it. Not with the cars I have in the garage...) 135 gold 7/46 Cars owned (Total cost R$443,700. 40 Upgrades)
I am running the game on an iPad 2 on the latest iOS. Generally runs smooth as butter. Actually I see your point about the damaged car; it could be that later in the race, because the AI never goes off-roading due to their perfect lines, their top speeds are much higher than mine. I end up having to go off-roading during the race because its usually the only way I can pass (I am also super-impatient ). I'll give you an example where the TSM behavior is irritating even when I'm not driving a damaged car. I just had a TSM head-to-head race (against "blasted1" I think) in my 918 RSR. Right off the blocks I had a slight lead and took the inside on the first turn (I forget which track, but it might have been that Belgian one- Francorchamps(?)- where you have a sharp right turn and then a run up the hill). Rather than behaving intelligently, the AI, because it always has to take a perfect line and because I had taken that line, blasted into me, cracking my windshield. I won the race, but with some unnecessary repairs (or maybe that is the entire point, this is EA we are talking about after all).
You mean it caught you on the hill? Yeah that can happen if you slow down too much before & during the turn and don't get back on the gas quick enough. If it's Mount Panorama, let off the gas before the turn and hang far left (even into the chicane) and then dart right even getting your right wheels off the chicane into the grass a little on the actual corner and then hammer the gas. If you can figure it out you'll rocket ahead. If you don't and the other guy has a car better geared for hill climbing then you'll get caught. Sometimes I purposefully move out of the way of the AI and let it get beside me and then just give them a little push on the next turn. It's also hard to do, but it's possible to clip the corner of the AI cars from behind and spin them off the track. Gotta have some speed to get it to happen but it's rewarding when you know that the AI you're passing is the best player in that event. ... Unrelated to this game, but I picked up Super Stickman Golf 2. I'll still be playing RR3, but no doubt SSG2 is going to eat into some of my game time.
If we had offroad tracks and drifting I'd do this with the lamgorgini that i got discount priced last week http://youtu.be/GuIe3TZzFZk
Ha. Man that would be nice. ... Did anyone else (UK for the most part) watch this weeks episode of 5th Gear? They were at Silverstone for a big world record deal of having nearly 1000 ferraris on the track, 3 abreast, and within a couple car lengths of eachother. Amazing site. It was cool also to see the track and see how well represented it is in this game. Just amazing how much I remembered from playing RR3.
No, I mean he accelerated into me in the first turn, right off of the blocks. We hadn't even gotten to the first downhill yet. It's as if the AI is programmed to follow a line regardless of whether the "player" is already there (although it does seem to avoid other AI cars). I guess I can't complain too much- I'm more of a wham-bam player than a finesse player myself. As for Panorama, the toughest part for me is the very sharp curve at the top of the first hill that then quickly bends right. I still haven't figured out the best way to take that without either banging into the right wall or slowing down considerably. And have I mentioned how much I hate Brands Hatch?
Same here. My second least favorite track. But certain cars do better on that than others. Seems like the first Viper was good on it.
I actually love that track. The first time I went down the little hill at the beginning my stomach jumped a bit and I forgot I was playing a video game for a second. That's the moment I fell in love with this game...
Brands Hatch is one of the hardest to make up time on the AI lines as it's so short. I find that the trick on all of these downhill corners (turn 1 and the last turn at brands hatch, those chicanes at Panorama) is to brake early and hard to the apex; then tap the gas as you pass the apex until you are sure you won't slide. Don't be afraid to come off the gas and use as much of the width of the track as you can to avoid sliding. You need to be slower than you think at the panorama chicanes, don't let them catch you out - slow in, fast out. I totally agree on he endurance races - I promise I'm stopping as soon as I pass those first place markers, hope the rest do the same! I'll also be on SSM2 in the coming days - just having a look at the single player at the mo - but will keep playing RR3 as well.
No word yet on icloud support? Still like the game, but kinda need the disk space for something else, but really don't want to lose my progress and coins cause I have grinded so much. Anyone hear anything, even rumour about it lately?
Take less than two minutes, backup the data, delete the game. Done. I haven't seen anything about future updates, rumors or otherwise.
I keep forgetting, you don't have a pc right? If I'm confusing you with someone else and you do have a pc, install itunes, get iFunBox (it's free, google it), and you can (after you copy a certain dll to the folder with iFunBox) get into the file system of your i-device and copy out the documents folder for this game and back it up. Then you don't have to worry as much about starting over. I've backed mine up once already but I should do it again. Nicely I now am rocking 6.4GB of free space on my 16GB 4S. Cleaning things off I wasn't going to play any time soon has been liberating. Nope. Have you tried going into settings (the gear in the bottom left, and the gear within that list) and slide the slider for music back up? If it's up but there's no music, close the app and restart it. That may not help, but it's worth a try. Personally, the tweak I did after the controls was to turn the music volume all the way down. I really prefer to hear all the road noise when driving.

See if yours will go back up.... edit..nevermind it now works
Yeah, laptop was stolen at a house party, computers I use elsewhere I am not allowed to install any personal software. But kinda getting sick of not being able to do saves and install mame on my ipad, so really should buy a junky laptop, anyone know where I can get a decent enough one for around $100? If it's closer to $300 bucks, would rather buy 300 itunes games. So yeah, kinda frustrating that I have to buy a laptop just to use itunes and copy over game saves. Bought my ipad with the intent on never ever buying a traditional laptop again, unless it was something like the Microsoft surface, seems kind of like going backwards. But if I can find a laptop for around $100 or so, might as well just buy one as a fancy plant vase holder, and to save my ipad games saves... Maybe I can use it as a frisbee too...
Just got the Pagani Zonda R...I got 200 gold doing the "Gamefly trial offer". Gonna cancel it in a few days after I check it out.
Connector, You actually don't have to install ifunbox. It just sits in a folder (probably could be run from a Jumpdrive, and I can test thist tomorrow if you need). The main thing iTunes is for is getting a dll from it to put in the same folder as ifunbox. I'm not sure if iTunes actually has to be installed but I could do some testing since it would mean just copying my setup to a Jumpdrive and testing it on another PC at work. It's a really awesome thing to have access to the ios file system without having to jb. I hope it's pretty easy to get out of it. It's smart though to spend the coins since some of the offers say if you cancel too soon then the gold will be taken back. I'm going for the Zonda R in its racing tier at the discount price. I still need 231 gold.... Well less than that because of the discount. I guess I need 151 gold if its 20% off.
What the? I just did a drag race with my porsche 918 spider concept and had damage to my right door. In a drag race lol. And this car aint cheap to repair. I think it cost me ove $600 to fix that. With that said, that car is so amazing! I thought i would get bored grinding races to get cars barely better than the ones i had. But that car is so fun to drive. I wish they had an open coarse where any car could race. No prizes, no damage, just some fun driving with lots of hills, turns and straightaways. I would do that over and over in this car.
