Wow. I bet that's still pretty decent without 21 friends since it's 4 laps on Panorama. Going to try and use that to grind up that last 130K I need for the Porsche on sale.

EDIT: It's R$12,650 for 3rd place and if you've beaten your friends already on this track then you get nothing for beating them a second time. Also to get all of your friends in the race you gotta come in 1st first. I had a few show up in it even without having come in first... but I had already beat one of them and the other finished second.

Repairs were R$1,055, plus the car now nearly needs fully serviced but the oil is in the red so another $65 for that. A full service is around 3,500 for the top BMW in that category. So 2 Races, managing 3rd will earn 25,300 - $2,000 in damages and - 3,500 for servicng... still that's nearly a net of 20,000 for two races. Not bad.

I'm still saving all of my gold. I'm closing in on the 400 mark. I think, in the long run, I may just bite the bullet and aim for unlocking the 400 and below gold cars and forget about that one for 800.

Stat wise that Porsche 918 RSR Concept is either top or second to top car overall in 2 groups. So going off of the stats alone, it seems like a good deal at 150 gold.

Deleting the app deletes the data.

If you have a computer around with iTunes, iFunBox (with a specific .dll file copied into the same folder as iFunBox)... then it is possible to backup the save data and then use that on the version from your local country after you've started the game and finished the tutorial. It would take a little work, but it is possible to do what you want, it's just not built into the game to do iCloud.

    ...unrelated to that...

The Porsche 918 Spyder Concept is mine... in just under 13 hours.

I'm contemplating my options with the Gold cars.

Looking at the list of everything available for gold...

    065G - McLaren MP4-12C (the only other McLaren being 1.25 Million R$)
    150G - Porsche 918 RSR Concept
    400G - Pagani Zonda R
    800G - Koenigsegg Agera R

I could get the McLaren & Porsche and still have 139G left to save for that Pagani. Or I could save another 46G and be able to afford the Pagani. Tough choice. Two cars now, or 1 car in a few days or so but then have to sit and wait maybe a week or so before I earn enough gold for those other two.

I'm leaning towards the instant gratification.

    Yeah... doing that...

OH NICE... gold purchased cars are INSTANT. No delivery. Very nice. I pretty much killed most of my cars trying to get enough cash for that Porsch on sale... this is a nice treat. Maybe by the end of lunch I'll have enough cash to get everything serviced. :D

Yeah that should work. I just recently got into backing up my saves. The folder I believe is just called "Documents". So you should see folders named "Documents", "LIbrary", "RealRacing3.app", "tpm", and a file called iTunesArtwork. The entire Documents folder should be it. To be safe, backup everything.

I did not convert from one version to another, but several people here did and posted about it in this thread and they backed up the Documents folder. It is full of files that seem to be your track times on each race and so on. They seem to keep a lot of data.

    .............

    Unrelated...

PORSCHE 918 RSR CONCEPT... that car is so awesome. Well worth the gold IMO. I'm grinning ear to ear after driving that thing. On the Indianapolis Speedway it just sticks to the ground as you'd expect. Finally hitting curves at over 150 feels right. I nearly got it to 200.

Yep, the only files I transferred over were in the Documents folder. I just copied the Documents folder to the hdd, then copied it over to the device after downloading the US app. Worked like a charm.

I can say with all certainty, YES. That car is a blast to drive.

The McLaren MP4-12C is also a good buy. It's not as amazing as that Porsche, but it's a solid car that competes well in the Series it appears in.

    ....

Nicely it only took a handful of races to earn enough to fully service and repair all the cars I trashed saving up for that Porsche 918 Spyder Concept. Still 10 & 1/2 hours before I can drive it... so it'll be tomorrow before I check it out.

    Thinking about next week's car.
I think it's possibly way out of my league price wise. It was a major chore to get that ~633K together. Pagani Huayra is R$1,358,000 so that'll be R$1,085,400 at 20% off... R$1,018,500 at 25% off... or R$950,600 at 30% off.

I think I may be better off just saving up and buying the new cars I'll encounter at discounts in all the Series I opened up today with the 3 cars I acquired.

Are the rewards for winning with the Porshe or Mclaren a decent amount relative to lower series? I could spare the gold if it means I'll get more cash easily.

As noted by pavarotti2007, they are pretty similar. Granted I haven't played through all the areas with any one of these cars I picked up today. With the other cars though, the better ones did get higher paying events towards the end of their respective event blocks... and this typically happened through adding extra laps (since they go by faster in the faster cars). But I won't know till I'm further along into it... which may take a while since I also want to take advantage of the sales on the other cars in each bracket.

I thought I'd post some updated thoughts on the game because I have so many of you on my GC friends list, and it's nice to keep in touch.

I'm around level 45 with 15 cars. I've been ignoring most of the sales, buying cars that open up new series. I've decided to change tact now and try not to unlock any more showcases until I can afford the cars at sale price. I'm saving for the spyder concept at the moment, 300k to go :s

Although I'm still enjoying the game a lot having only spent my initial £1.49 on the z4 car pack, I can see how the top cars are going to be a big grind to get and enjoy without buying consumable IAP. Seeing that paywall ahead is a bit of a demotivator, but I'm not a completionist so ill play until it stops being fun - I have no interest in spending money on in-game currency in any game.

I really hope they do something about the cuts on some of the tracks, as it can be tempting to cut chicanes and corners when you need an overtake. Perhaps if the TSM gold times were better matched to the track it would be less of an issue. I also can't understand why they haven't included the Brands Hatch GP circuit - it seems that the extra loop is modelled, but only the Indy circuit is available.

I'm looking forward to seeing you on track - well, your avatars at least!

I can confirm that the Porsche 918 Spyder is WELL worth the investment. Even though it feels like it needs fixing more often than other cars, it sticks to the road like glue, so you can hit those apex's in your sleep. Southbank in this car and the Audi R8 is a real pleasure to drive, as opposed to the nightmare it can be in a Porsche Carrera GT.

I can only encourage everyone to get this car above all others during the sale!

Spend time with the game. That's pretty much it. Increase skill, more time in the game = more money = more cars = more time to spend, repeat.

This may have been asked already, but is there any kind of time trial mode so I can just run the tracks and get used to them? I've looked but I can't seem to find anything like that in-game.

Also what control schemes are you guys using? Gran Turismo 2 was pretty much all I played for a good year/year and a half, so I've been using a scheme similar to that one, but I don't know that the touch screen steering works as well as tilting. :(

Great game though! Hope to be able to stick with it! :)
