No, it's only half horribly implemented, and the other half is a slap in the face. When you stop making excuses for why the IAP is "not as bad as it can be" then you'll realize you're playing a game that doesn't have it.
It's always been tiered, even before they made the timers this short. I imagine that if I bought and repaired the zonda a week ago it would have taken over 4 days to repair lol. It makes sense from a simulation/realism standpoint. When you want to service your Koenigsegg, they fly a mechanic out to meet you and it costs well over $100k. That said, I'm thankful that the service in game still only costs about $750 for an oil change and $2500 for an engine service lol.
Hehe, true, not that many people had the awesome cars back then, so we don't know. 4 day waits? Haha, maybe you are right, who knows. There must be a hacker here that did the infinite money thing that would know though, since they would have bought the bugatti on day one. Makes sense from a realism point of view? What? Hehe. When I did my test on my Ford Focus, I crashed it a huge amount, it probably would have needed 4 days to fix it, not 6 hours like it normally would on RR3. Yeah, I am glad I don't have to pay $750 for an oil change, cause in real life, that would be 750 buck apps, or 750 cokes, wowzers, we are lucky....
And it makes no sense from a video game standpoint, where reality should only enter the picture when you pay for the game initially. Waiting to play a game, in any form, where the control is taken away from your finger tips, or when you are forced to pursue a different avenue just to keep playing (in this case, switching cars or paying for an early repair) is unacceptable.
I don't understand why you feel the need to continue to post negative comments in this thread. We understand your opinion of the game, you've made it quite clear in the many posts you've made recently. Why can you not stop wasting your time here? I don't mind the wait timers, and if I did I would simply fast-forward my ipod's clock. I don't play marathon sessions, this is a mobile game after all. Play a quick Southbank in between classes, a Panorama while on the toilet, a couple endurance rounds while waiting for friends, etc. If you want a serious racing sim, my advice is to go subscribe to iRacing.com and buy yourself a nice racing wheel. Something from logitech or thrustmaster.
So what cars are the best to buy? I'm thinking of either the 370z or challenger SRT8, should i save up for something else? I only have the RS and silvia right now
If you can afford it, the Shelby GT500 is highly rated in two series, and is low ranked in a third (will allow you to at least complete the showcase in that one). It has decently high stats and is an all around good car to own. If you're for some reason opposed to that, saving for the Z4 sDrive35is isn't a terrible idea. It's top rated in two series and is pretty fun to drive. I'd prefer the GT500 over the Z4 though.
See, I almost - almost - sympathise with you, and yet here I am accepting it. You know, because I'm not paying out any real money, and I'm playing for hours at a time with no breaks, and if I have to switch to another car, the other cars are still actually fun. Ho noes! Stockholm syndrome! Whatever shall I do? Oh, if only I could understand that EA are the devil, like all the cool kids do, and that everything that stems from their developers is irredeemably tainted! Also, I read your post as "wanting" at first, which made you come across as even more of a tool than you currently do. It's perfectly valid to attack the game for being heavily weighted towards prodding the player for money. It's fine to point out the waiting times at the high end of the scale are ridiculous. It's okay to criticise the inconsistent AI, the up-and-down production values and the ludicrous padding (did we really need 900+ events?). But if you seriously think any of that stops it cold from being a pretty good racing game regardless, one that offers you more than a ton of triple-A games do, and for free, chances are you're either a little kid, you're wilfully ignorant, you're just posting for the lulz or all three. Still, whatever floats your boat, I guess.
I wasn't aware that 'negative' comments weren't allowed, if negative is in fact how you perceive them. I think my comments are pretty warranted for one of the most anticipated yet most disappointing iOS titles to date.
I have done nothing but criticize exactly what you just gave me permission to criticize, all without calling you a tool. I never claimed that the game itself wasn't good. I am claiming that the IAP taints the experience
You're the one that's disappointed. And nobody said negative comments weren't allowed, they're just unnecessary. Pointless fluff like "IAPs suck lulz" and "get rid of wait timers!" is why this thread is so bloated.
Do you get anything special for getting 100% in one of the series? I know you get coins and cash but no way to win another car?
I do wish we could move on. Most people are aware of the state of purchasing in RR3 by now, along with the rest of the game's shortcomings. For me, the sound made when cars collide is particularly grating. Like a sound bite of breaking a single pane window in a sound proof room. Just awful. But, the game's problems have been discussed at length. It would be nice to get some objective car ratings in here or track tips etc, so I'll start: Ford Focus RS - Starts relatively slow in the first series, really struggles, but I'd say the car comes into its own once the engine & drivetrain have been upgraded and I've used this car at great length in two series with great success. BMW Z4 Sdrive35is - Starts off very well in the first series you can use it in. Suffers from top end speed in particular on the Indianapolis Speedway. BMW M3 GTS - I was hoping this would be a real winner takes all car, but it's a bit of a white elephant from what I've been able to achieve with it. Expensive to buy, upgrade and maintain. Porsche 911 GT3 RS - Similarly expensive with the BMW M3 GTS, but greatly outperforms it. Sticks to the road like glue and has a very good top end. Only downside is that everyone seems to use it. Porsche Carrera GT - I was hoping this to be my mid-game workhorse but it's just too pricey to maintain at the moment. I also lost my first head-to-head comfortably in this car against a Viper, so kind of worried about it. It looks the shit though.
No, you're merely a member of the vocal minority. (edit: The game has 4.5 stars on the app store and is "selling" like hotcakes.) On the topic of actual gameplay, does anyone own the Porsche 918 that you buy with gold coins? Is it worth the cost, or should I put those coins towards upgrading other cars?
Im on sumosplashs side of this matter. When ur passionate about mobile gaming and are longing for the day it will rival console gaming, then u can hardly be silent when the game u thought would almost entirely bridge the gap turns out to be such a huge dissapointment. I like it how those of u that say "stop being so negative, i dont mind waiting" are the same ones saying mobile gaming is just for casual fun and u keep referring us to the pc & console for serious gaming... Thats an irony, because that is exactly why this burns so much for us "negative" folks... We want mobile gaming to equal serious gaming and thats why it burns so much now that we have entered this endless shithole... Everything is in place for perfect success, the hardware of the iphone 5, the good reputation of the app store, the solid mobile os, the design and interface of the iphone... Everything, and they're still ruining it all Its only natural to express ur disappointment with a game on that games main thread, cause god forbid if any electrical monkeys would swosh by and think "oh ok everyone are happy here too! Job well done!"
No, I am a member of the vocal intelligent, which you perceive as negativity. http://www.appspy.com/review/6723/real-racing-3 Wake up. Thank you for your support. I know I'm not the only one.
If you'd like, I can scour the web for any number of positive reviews, like IGN and Toucharcade to name a couple. This game is naturally very polarizing. The problem is when people try to be hardcore gamers on devices that are intrinsically casual gaming platforms at best. I'm also going to be the better man and not take pot-shots at comments like "vocal intelligent" and "wake up".
Do you really value support when it comes from somebody that sounds like this? I'm not saying you're wrong but if anything, the fact that this guy agrees with you is a blow to your support.
1) I picked the review from App Spy because it is accurate, not positive or negative. Andrew talked about how good the game is, while being hampered with insidious IAP. BOTH App Spy and TA talked about the IAP. You can't escape the IAP when it is built from the ground up to be married to the gameplay. 2) Go around to the hardcore iOS gamers and tell them it is a 'casual gaming platform at best' and then let me know what kind of responses you get. 3) I wasn't taking pot shots, and there is no doubt that you are the better man. I thought he made valid points.
