I regret buying the BMW M3 GTS as-well. The Shelby GT 500 seems much better, I was a bit surprised though. The BMW 1 Series M was my second car after my Silivia and that thing handles and feels really great. I expected more of the same from the M3 GTS but no, I can't help but feel the game got the stats between the Mustang and the M3 reversed. lol What I'm trying to do, to make up for the lost money is, the BMW M3 GTS can race in an event with the Porsche GT3 RS and Porsche GT3 RS 4.0. The showdown for those will come up in the 9th and 12th tiers, which would give me 20% off. Hopefully I can make it that far though, I don't see the M3 GTS fairing well in that event.
Right before the US launch, kind of as expected, they changed the update so that there is no longer wait times on repairs, service times got cut by about 1/3, and time to service was cut down by about 1/3. These changes were huge changes that made the timer experience totally different. Sometimes I think, that EA used the soft launch, just to see how much we consumers could take, especially in the 2 days that EA and Firemonkeys had made the wait timers 20 hours for moderate damage. But anyway, the current builds of both the NZ and US version have the same wait time system, and cross our fingers, but Firemonkeys has said to Eli that the timers won't be changing anytime soon. At least at the current level, they are a slight nuisance, but not a 20 hour gamebreaker. But I am sure it all depends on how much money they are making off of inapps, and really, it is probably EA's call whether the wait timers will be increased to help spur inapp gold coin sales. So, we shall see...
Who knows, I am sure EA and Firemonkeys will keep this a tight secret cause of all the uproar over this game, unless of course, they make a huge amount of money of inapp sales. The freemium model or the now vastly reduced wait times are really not the main reason why this game may not produce as much money as expected. I think the real issue is that it is 2gb in disk size and has no icloud support. A 2 gb freemium with no way to save progress, is flirting with disaster. Why buy inapps when one may only initially load this for one week for example? The disk space vs icloud issue is the biggest negative I think to inapp sales. Never been a freemium game with such a huge disk space size imprint. I really wonder if they can succeed without icloud support, I doubt it. Hope that fabled icloud support does come one day, cause honestly in about 2 weeks or so, the vast majority of us will no longer have it on our systems and lost all progress. The only ones left will be the hackers that can get infinite cash and goin coins with a stroke of their keyboards. They will be the only ones to benefit from no icloud.
Just adding my five cents, for what little they're worth: I'm playing on Android, and I don't have a Facebook account so I can't drag friends in to race against (so I don't earn cash as fast), and I'm still enjoying it. It's not a great racer, IMO, but it's definitely a very good one - easily one of the best on mobile and more fun than a lot of console titles I've played. Once you manage to collect two or three cars - which doesn't take that long - the freemium setup simply gets to be steadily less and less of a problem. I've got nearly 13 hours on the clock over the space of a weekend and a half and I wasn't taking that many forced breaks to wait for something to service. And repairs are practically a non-issue - place in the front half of the grid and you can still earn more than enough to cover quite a bit of playing ping-pong with the trackside barriers or other drivers. It's a flawed game, but the flaws have very little to do with the freemium setup. Most people who play this will never see all of it anyway, real money or no real money - did we really need 900+ events? The AI isn't great, there's something of an RPG mentality to progression (you frequently don't need to be a better driver so much as you need a better car) and there are places the production values take a nosedive (weird audio, odd visual FX and places the backgrounds don't join up). But god damn I'm still having fun, and I don't feel particularly pressured to pay up or strangled by timers or any such thing despite having played it almost every chance I got for the past couple of days or so. I worry about the move to freemium just as much as the next nerd, but for all it needs criticising this game simply doesn't deserve the hate it's getting. Cliffy B was pretty much dead on, you ask me - a huge portion of the vocal minority are dismissing this almost entirely because knocking EA is the flavour of the month. They can carry on yelling all they like; I'm still enjoying myself.
I originally had the NZ version and I downloaded the US version and got a fresh start. I even removed my gamecenter stats from the NZ version. However, now my facebook photo along with my real name pops up instead of my gamecenter photo and user ID. WTF?!
wow... The McLaren F1 sounds like a much better car, but it is painfully more expensive. I'm going for the Bugatti Veyron so I can get the F1 with a 20% discount then, and so that I can also get the Zonda R at a 20% discount . It will be some painful grinding to that. The Shelby pretty much excels the GTS in every single way. It is quite expensive and it is slow. Definitely a bad car to buy. The best one for an 'early' stage is definitely the 911 GT 4.0 IMO. It is the best in its range of events, it is really fun to drive, and it allows you to get his older counterpart at 20% discount, which also is one good car. You can also go for the GT-R, which is a beast!, but you won't be able to participate in nearly as many events as you can with the Porsche.
The versions are different mate. If you happen to still have the NZ installed, use iFunbox and gather the Documents folder from the game and paste it to the US version. You'll be able to recover everything. If you have already deleted the NZ, I'm sorry, but I think you just erased your whole gamesave. Perhaps iCloud could fix that, but it's not Firemonkeys' fault.
im not worried about the game save, the game is fun enough to where I wasn't unhappy with having to start over. It's the fact that my FACEBOOK picture and username are showing up in-game instead of my GAMECENTER picture and username.
Hi racer, did you end up getting the Zonda? I have just hit the 40 hour mark, and luckily I Am still really enjoying it. I'm wondering if you think the Zonda is worth the Gold?
I think it is. I have bought the 65-coin McLaren, the 150-coin Porsche and now I'm going for the 400-coin Pagani Zonda. I have 235 atm, level 61. When you complete 75% of each career, they give you 11 coins, which along the 3-coin reward for levelling up should be okay to get the 400 coins for the Zonda R. Getting 800 coins for the Koenigsegg is another thing though. I'll eventually get to it, but I don't know how much it will take me
Similar, I have both the Porsche and McLaren, I currently have 148 Gold. I am finding that once you get past 50% in some of the latter championships its really hard to get victory without throwing in game cash at upgrades which can get pretty expensive. It could also be that I am an average driver.
I have 18 cars and 249 coins, and I'm currently investing all my cash in upgrades. I tend to begin upgrading the lower tier cars mainly because they are cheaper. I have several championships between 75-80%. My objective is to have all between 75-80% and after that, go for 100% completion. Hopefully I will be able to buy the Pagani Zonda R in a few days. Btw, bug report: the middle brake light of the Ford GT seems to be displaced to the left when I brake. It happens for sure when the car has damage, not sure if it happens without damage though...
I did the same thing as you and it stills logs in with my gc account but i sill had to start all over again..... I was at the 40th level
I know it defeats the fun of the TSM but its suprising how much the framerate improves when you disconnect your device from the net. All that choppiness in the menus and in cockpit view are largely the gamecenter friends avatars loading. I'd like the option to disable the avatar loading, especially since it seems to re-load inbetween every race. Can't be healthy on my dataplan thats for sure.
This game really highlights the key areas of needed improvement in my driving style in racing games heh. I'm getting better and the repair bills are getting lower but... southbank. I've never finished southbank with less than 6 broken areas of any car I drive Worth it though. This game rocks.
Okay, I've managed to grind my Nissan up to ~$125k. I don't know jack about cars. What should I buy next? Thanks for all the GC friend requests. Judging from all the pop up notifications, I must be helping ya'll make some money GC: etonblue
