I have never in all my time as a member of the TA forums read a post that captures my feelings as much as this one. Perfectly describes my feelings.

I know the counter-points, and they are so obvious I feel like people almost wasted good time typing them. Of course it's more lucrative to go F2P, of course more people are playing etc. But I'm not a dev, I don't give two shits about how much more money they make with this pay model, I don't care how many people are playing, etc. I speak for the "hardcore" gamer who is willing to pay good cash up front for the game. YES, I know we're a small minority in the grand scheme, and not everyone will fork out the cash upfront, I get all that. I still don't like it or accept it, I really don't like the direction this platform is headed. I would hate to have to buy a Vita for my mobile gaming fix, but that may well be the way things are shaping up :/

The thing is you shouldnt feel forced to hop from car to car, its nice to have variety so I like using all of my different cars.

You can only play a game the way the game is designed to be played. In all the racers I've played, I usually end up with a garage full of cars but only using a handful of them. This model pushes me to use all of my cars and learn their different strengths and weaknesses. I really dig it, you don't...and that's okay.

I don't think we need to debate the difficulty in selling premium titles on the AppStore. The proof (all the freemium games) is literally right in front of our faces.

You I know I actually like the repairs and upgrades part. I think in many ways RR2 was missing something. I actually like to go in the garage and repair, and I see it as a challenge to avoid the wait times.

In a way the garage, repairs, wait times are like a game within a game. A challenge. So if you have two cars and are a half decent video game driver. You will probably enjoy this game ! immensely.

Look forward to racing some of you in the future. I believe in giving some money to the devs for freemium also. Although I have spent so much money on EA games, I feel that maybe I don't need to spend hardly any on iAP on this one for a change.

Haha this thread is going to need a cleanup soon and I don't want to get swept up and thrown into a trash thread again. There's no point to discussing this.

Its a racing simulator, and grinding your way to multiple cars is pretty much standard fare in real life unless you're 1) rich or 2) have a sponsor. Why have multiple cars if you race professionally or for leisure? In case one is in the shop come race day. Like I said, racing simulator.

The game really does become more entrenching as you accrue more cars.

@nightc1: I haven't completely given up hope...I'm still here, but I wish (truly) that I could share your optimism on this. I can certainly relate to the sheer number of great games, since I'm embarrassed to say that my collection all told dwarfs yours (not that yours isn't impressive...it is), but I can't remember a time when I've been less excited/interested in what is being released for such a long period as I have recently. I'm afraid it's because so many freemium games are glutting the market.

@blackbear: I can't play the game the way I want. I felt like I was constantly being pressured to "repair" my vehicle after a 1 or 2 lap race where little to no damage should have been done. Something about the idea of waiting to play a game for any reason irks me. I own the game (even if it's free). I don't want to be told when I can or can't play it. Like I said, I know some people don't mind, and that's fine, but it's not for me.

@Quazonk: I'm glad that others feel my pain so to speak. It makes me feel a bit less like I'm on an island. I have nothing against other portable platforms, but this is the first one that I really fell in love with. It bothers me that it's being cheapened.

  8. Weird that a lot of you ipad 4 users are reporting framerate problems, is it just in cockpit camera view, or all camera views?

I think Firemonkeys made a mistake in making the cockpit view as the default, they should have used the regular car view as default.

What suggestions do y'all have for a second car? Or should I put money into upgrades for my starter? I just started, and have about R$35k

  10. There were many changes implemented about 2 days before the US release on the 28th.

Repairs used to have wait timers, now none

Servicing wait timers were reduced alot.

Time to service was dramatically reduced.

During the NZ phase, the times varied on wait timers from Zero, 2, 6, 20, 6 hours to what it is now for moderately damaged cars. I will be doing my last test and report of the wait timers to conclude my very unscientific study.

But one main thing that did change is that the service timers don't go down as fast. Before if I played for one hour, I would need servicing, now it seems like closer to 3 hours. So this is another factor rarely talked about.

A combination of all the above making the game much more fun and the wait timers much more tolerable than the experiences with the NZ release. I will post today my final wait time report.

It's very possible, and probably most likely, that the NZ timers were as long as there were to control the amount of traffic hitting the servers.

If you think you can browse this thread free and clear of discussion of the game-ruining F2P mechanic and the politics surrounding it, I'd like the number of your dealer lol

What's the best car for the pure stock challenges? I have the Nissan and the focus fully upgraded but their still not fast enough.

The Nissan is crap. I don't know why they said to get it right away. The Focus is the best starting car. The best car in that class is the BMW.

I've only been an iOS gamer for a year. Maybe in a few more years I'll get more negative about the iOS market. The way I see it, things are the same as when I started with core games and casual right there... freemium and premium. Considering how many big giant game companies have gone down in the console market... I think it's hard for any dev to make really huge games on any platform and thrive because any one failure can be the tipping point towards the entire company going down. Joining EA to try and survive is probably the early signs of a business that has to adapt or die.

Ambition to grow big too soon seems like a common theme in my life of watching businesses fail.

    ...

You mentioned feeling pressured to repair/service your vehicle. Don't service until you are ready to. Even without oil, tires, brakes, and the engine ready to go... it's easy to keep on racing if you repair the body.

My guess is the BMW 1 Series M Coupe. I had an option to get the Focus for 30% off when I unlocked it's special race but I passed on it to save for something better in another class. So I leap frogged that one challenge as I'll come back to it when I'm earning bigger money and can purchase it after a couple races rather than a dozen.

Ok, downloaded this game. Played a couple of hours. Deleted it. Fine with me.

The graphics are great. Sound not so much. Physics feel ok, but not outstanding. There is no big choice of tracks and most of them are pretty boring. The constant messages to get or fix something are annoying, so are the waiting times and the non-existent AI. Or to put it simple, the game simply isn't THAT much fun to eat that much space on my iPhone just to spend a lot of time waiting. And there simply is no game in the world worth waiting that much. Life goes on. New apps come out. 3 stars from me.

I wonder if it isn't also due to the calendar. The end of last year saw the release of some exciting games in the lead up to the holiday season: Baldur's Gate, GTA Vice City, Carmageddon, MC4, etc. Now that the holiday's are over, we may still be in the shadow of it and there really just aren't any big titles coming out for a while (remember even RR3 was originally supposed to come out in December as well...). Seems to match PC and console releases as well. Of the games coming up, I only have Bioshock: Infinite and Sim City 5 to look forward to until September (and both of those come out this month) except for a pair of DLCs for Victoria 2 and Crusader Kings 2.

Is it normal that you always start the race in last place?
Especially in the races with lots of drivers it's virtually impossible to reach number 1 :(

Yes. Try to overtake on the outside. Helped me a little. If the track is Southbank though you're ####ed either way
