Oh okay. Tbh, I don't really care if the game has a horrid iAP system. If it gives me some pleasure in playing the game, I'll be happy. Good things come to people who wait. Even if it does take an incredibly long amount of time..
Again, not prevent... just allow. It's allowing people to play and be able to take breaks without interrupting their progress. It's to prevent players from getting too bored, frustrated, etc., with long sessions being required.
Initial impressions.. Polished beyond anything in this genre so far. Looks right, feels right, sounds right. However I am disappointed with the amount of iap thrown at you. I will drop some dollars on this without doubt as I would have spent $10 up front anyway. I can see the timer thing being annoying though.
Again, as a gamer I'd agree. However prevent is the word they used when discussing it, and prevent is what they use in their games. It's obviously working well (see the F2P charts). Certainly well enough for EA to use that model in RR3.
Btw EA stated that freemium is their default model now. We won't be seeing any premium games from them for a long time.
On the other hand, I feel like I have to upgrade my stuff just to be able to be competitive on some races. And of course, upgrading means more waiting.
CSR racing pretty much did exactly the same thing. Pay for a gold only car and enjoy a near crushing advantage against all those poor shmoes who couldn't pony up. CSR : Now with steering! I'm telling you.
Made a NZ account to download this. I'll definitely post my impressions after I play a little. I do have a feeling, probably also because of this thread) that EA ruined Real Racing. They always destroy everything they touch.
I know, I feel the same in the earlier cups. But this just seriously way tooooo OP. In 4 secs I overtake 21 cars. I was amazed. Then I win by 3km in a single lap. I call this bull. Balance is an important thing in a sim racer and this game totally lacks that.
Back home from work and my car still has 25 minutes to go I am going to race as much as possible until my car has a heart attack to see what mileage we get out of a messed up engine with bad oil.
Guys, I have some really really bad news. You know each cup has 4 car types? And that you basically race against other peoples times? So, I have played far enough, where I see that people are using the best of the four cars on the first event in the cups. So starting off with the worst of the four cars, you stand no chance. Plus, I have been playing on airplane mode for the last 2 hours and seemingly the TSM is still there. I want to play against AI not this bogus TSM that isn't standardized and lacks complete balance. The deeper I go the more I realize this is actually a shitty game.
You know what? I'm really enjoying this. Just done my first set of repairs and am about to do my first service to my Focus. I've already done one engine upgrade too. UK prices for IAP isn't too bad and is quite obviously aimed at frequent impulse buys. I can see me dropping the £2.99 for R$140,000 every now and then.
Gameloft kind of said the same thing and they've kind of backed off that a bit. Hopefully, EA will do the same. But, unfortunately, this will probably still do well even with the asinine IAP system. I wouldn't have cared as much if EA didn't constantly gobble up everything from PopCap to Firemint. I'm sure developers for those companies would have plenty of choice words for EA if they weren't employees.
Until we get a real UK release you will not be able to buy the IAP if you downloaded the game from a NZ account, bit annoying because I actually was going to get the 30 coins and 100,000 R$ pack to help me at the start but no go. I am willing to spend about the price of a good iOS game here but how far that get's me who knows, not to the end that is for sure
