Same thoughts, other than your opinion on the AI. It's terrible. It's like you aren't even there. Everything else you said, I'm on the same track.
Same here. I won't say this has the best graphics for a game on the Appstore though. The AI is downright terrible. Not sure what makes you think they're good. Care explaining?
I don't find the AI to be that tough when first playing the event (although it is harassing in indianapolis if you pass to close...). But once you get gold on an event and replay it, with your best TSM friend starting #1 on the grid, things are getting interesting...
I guess good may not have been the best word for it. I guess standard would be more appropriate. I don't find it to be worse than the other alternatives on the AppStore. I have played racing games where you get the impression the whole field is on a team against you. In this game I don't get that. They're just doing what they do and you have to race around it.
I don't think they are hard at all. I think they are dumb. I'm tired of having repairs just because I get knocked all over the place. I get tired of losing my place when I'm knocked off the track without any fault of my own. If I have to go around them, etc., to get ahead, then they should have to do that against me as well.
Great comment about disconnect. That is exactly it. This games is generally fantastic, and I want to keep PLAYING it, not play for 10 - 15 min and then wait for 10 hours. I spent about $20 on this when it came out, to get some extra cars ang Gold, I WILL NOT keep paying to race cars in a racing game. Sorry if that makes me seem whiney, but to me it equates to going to a Restaurant(I go in for free , expecting to spend some money), to then be told the $20 steak I ordered will be ready in 10 hours, or if I like I can pay another $20 to get it now. It ruins the experience. I played CSR racing for awhile until it kept hounding me for money, I am trying to love this because of its heritage, but it's getting hard.
Gadz, that is cheap. A Bugatti costs, what $1,000,000 real dollars. And plus, it is really only 50 Starbucks coffees, or 200 cokes, come on, are you cheap! Just kidding... Maybe...
I agree with everything you say, except that I would say the ai is very poor to non existant and it isn't the best game. The cars just go in lines, bundle up, and will ram you for no reason causing incredible damage, so you get wait timed later. It forces most newbies to go through the grass, so you can pass 10 cars. This is not realistic. The good: The graphics, top notch. The controls, top notch. The driving, top notch. The theme top notch. Tracks, lots of content. The bad: Waiter timers, suck. Inapps, way too heavy. Repair Maintenance, too much. AI, like zombie drivers. Dual money system, too much attention to grab your money. The Medium: Music, often sounds like a porno movie. Cars, ok, but cost an arm and a leg. Sense of speed, just average. Sound effects, ok.
You forgot the 2 hour delivery time so the restaurant can go to Ralphs to buy your steak. So 12 hours. Wow, $20 already, anyone here paid more than that already?
Yeah, I figured I would have easily spent 10 to 20 dollars up front, and in comparison to some Vita games which I have wasted $60 on, I figured $20 was a steal for real racing. I still think its worth it, but I don't like the feeling that to keep playing I'm gonna have to spend and spend and spend.....
While it is free to download there are other "costs" involved in doing so. I'm not the most active member on these forums but I've seen more than a few others complaining about constantly being at or very near their device's storage limits. It can be tough deciding if it is worth freeing up space by removing old games you know you enjoy for a new game you have little info on. There are also a lot of places where Internet is still heavily capped and this is certainly one of the larger free-to-play games. For me a review where confirmation bias comes in to play is not particularly useful, and most likely very subjective. Reading that the reviewer had fun playing or didn't "like" a particular aspect does not help me any. Having a stars rating or X out of 5, 10 or 100 certainly doesn't help here either - not taking a dig a Toucharcade or any other sites in particular, I realise that for whatever reason it is the norm. I would prefer a format where the game is looked at as objectively as possible; its mechanics explained, what your goals are, any IAP systems outlined along with any glaring faults etc then leave the reader with all this information to make a decision on their own. Toucharcade actually does a pretty decent job doing this, it is only when you slap that 4/5 stars at the end which basically says "Yeah, this is a good game" (or no it is not) do you start swaying opinions or feeding confirmation bias. I'm lucky enough to not suffer any of the limitations mentioned above (excluding time) so am free to try out any free games I want, but I still appreciate any extra information I can get before going ahead with it.
Just wanted to say that I really like playing on the iPad. Even compared to my 360, Ps3, etc. once these nagging issues are ironed out, I'm almost console free!!
Took me close to an hour... Endurance is not about speed, it's about optimization. It's long but at least it pays in R$ and fame.
This is unlikely to change any time soon. Just be careful what you spend, if data gets lost they are probably not going to help which is the case of majority of games which go down this game changing route. I won't tell you to not spend any money on it but you could potentially have second thoughts if you spend a lot and it goes poof with no recourse. It's not a highly unlikely event either.
I have problem posting with pictures. It does not work all the time on the ipad app...anyway here it is finally.
