With pulling RR1 and 2 they are admitting that this is inferior and no one would get it instead of RR2 or even the original Real Racing.Instead of making it a better sequel they eliminated the competition

Supposedly, with purchased apps, they reside still on the Apple Servers and you are supposed to be able to go through your purchase history and re-download them. I'm not sure if you can do this in iTunes on the computer... but it's supposed to work through the AppStore -> Updates -> Purchased

Sort of a pain to do it that way because activity on the AppStore has been bananas and it often times out when I go to my Purchase history. Which, hey, at least it works sometimes... but still digging through the list that way is kind of a pain but better than nothing.

  4. Yeah, I had so many high hopes for this game. But I will be an optimist and hope things change in an update before the US release. Please EA and Firemonkeys, be kind this time around.

  5. I feel sorry for a lot of the newbies that only have one car when they get hit with a 15 hour wait timer. But some of them will appreciate they got it for free, and will be happy I suppose. Maybe you are right, the mid level gamers will like it the best, who knows. But alot of people have posted in here that they have spent more than $15 dollars in inapps, so there must be some true fans. Wonder what the most anyone has spent so far. That is what EA is counting on, not the vast majority like all of us.

I drive with manual steering, braking and acceleration with no assists on.

The Mclaren MP4-C12 feels considerably different, and much better, in this game than it did in the last.

I could see it being a lesser effect if you are sporting assists, auto-accel/brake or tilt to steer.

Oh, that's good to know. I'll have to investigate. I have gigs of games I don't play anymore backed up on my computer just in case. It would be nice to delete them knowing I can recover them 100%.

    Thanks.

  8. Yeah, the wait timers and ai. What an awesome game it would be. It will be a hard game to keep on your system with the huge disk space size. I really think freemium games are more appropriate for small disk file games. Either that or kind of follow Asphalt 7's inapp system, where it is not too obtrusive.

But you are right, the bots in this game need a revamping cause they just drive in straight lines, ram you for no reason, and clump up so you are forced to just race on the grass to cut corners. Wish they could change this too.

Those of you who are so sure that midcore/casual gamers will instantly delete these things because of timers... Do you play other free to play games? The "gameplay" in Clash of Clans IS waiting. It's cool if this game isn't for you, but betting against its success seems foolish.

  10. And in Tiny Tower...and in Pocket Planes...and in Pixel People...And in Smurfs Village...And any game with energy as a mechanic

It's become kind-of a standard in freemium now. Some games have massive ones like this, other are a few minutes. But this is the app store - I got used to it ages ago

  11. I have been grinding away with totally damaged cars, and I only have 2 cars. Sounds depressing. Feel sorry for the folk who start off with only one car. Man, really sounds like one should just put in $10 at start to buy 3 cars, then they can pass up this frustrations.

  12. What???????? Tell me it ain't so, am I awake, or is this a nightmare?

I have been noticing you for a while. It seems like you really want this game to be successful. But why?

It doesn't matter to me either way, I just am looking at the reality of the situation which a surprising amount of people here seem to be trying their hardest to ignore.

10$ for the all classes pack seems to me like the best way to start enjoying the game. But I would not go as far as to say that all cars should be unlocked for 10$. Slowly building your garage is a great part of the fun. Who wants to see a movie just for the ending?

I can understand what EA is trying to pull with the update. By reducing the repairs time and increasing the service time, newcomers will be able to play a bit more long before hit the long timers. At first, they will skip the timers with gold coins, but eventually will become stuck and be enticed to pay to keep playing. Once they've reached a critical point, they won't need to inject more money to appreciate the game. I expect 10-20$ should be enough for most players to enjoy the game, if you follow the journey.

I can see this method has merit as a business-model. Having now 14 cars in my garage, I don't see that as threat to my fun. If I can't continue playing because all cars are in servicing, that's a sign a should do something else for a while.

Have you heard anything about why all the RR games have been pulled from the US AppStore?

    ...

Obviously freemium games ride high on the high grossing charts... but in reality, I think casual gamers will see the wait timer and just delete the game for something else as others here have suggested. I think they'd do the same if Temple Run had that kind of mechanic. I think the genre also plays into this. This isn't Clash of Clans. It doesn't attract the same kind of gamer. Clash of Clans has 20K reviews... Temple Run 2 already has nearly 40K reviews. Really the market for sim racers is typically something more relegated to the core gamer market. That includes core iOS gamers... but more casuals that play a lot of freemium games are going to probably see this as graphically cool but it's a huge file size (unlike Clash of Clans and a lot of other freemium titles) and the rigid racing style... and the timers.. and delete it for something else more fun and accessible.

Love and Hate are very close to one another...

It's amazing how people love this game. Some will love it and just be content with playing it. Others will show their frustration about the pricing model, but the frustration expressed here is a clear sign they love the game and want to play it badly, and continuously. If they could wait a bit, they would not be so frustrated and would be enjoying the game.

I think FM did an amazing job within the contraints given by EA. Having played RR3 from some time now, I don't even think about going back to RR2. Whether people pay for IAP or not, any reaction about RR3 is free marketing for EA. Who knows, maybe they even planned this uprising for publicity.

I predict this game will be a hit... it is already.

I agree. Put down $10 from the start and you're off to a good beginning.

However, if you intend to fully 100% play out the game, that will NOT be enough.

Why? Well, most of the mid range cars top out at $500k. With a little bit of grinding, these cars can be bought.

But what about the 1million, 2 million cars? Or the 400 gold and 800 gold cars? What's the point of putting down that $10 if getting these best cars w/o paying any more real money is going to be a serious grind?

I have progressed far enough to know that you don't earn all that much more in the later cups. And it doesn't just stop at buying. The prices of upgrades are ridiculous too for the later cars.

All I can say is if you have no intention of absolutely needing the best cars, then go spend that $10. Or better still, just suffer for 2-3 hours and save that 10 bucks.

The middle phase of the game is the funnest. The earliest can be intimidating, and the last part will be a grind.
