Game Impressions This game is pretty much perfect in every way! The graphics are superb – definitely the best looking racing game available on the App Store. The gameplay is very fun, with the 16 cars it feels very realistic and can be challenging at times (the difficulty “normal” is spot on for me, not to easy and not too hard). As you progress and unlock faster cars, it becomes increasingly vital to make use of the brakes in order to master the corners. If you fail to brake in time, you’ll come careering off the track and slam into the barrier, which will slow you down by a lot and allow your opponents to overtake. The AI cars feel smarter than in the first game. They are much less aggressive and instead of bashing you off the track, they will skillfully overtake given an opportunity. In fact, a lot of the time you will be outpowered and outnumbered, which is why it’s so important to nail the corners just right. Another nice addition is the damage modeling. So far I’ve only noticed the front and rear bumpers being damage. With each bash, your bumper (or an opponent’s bumper) will hang lower and lower until it falls off. Sometimes you’ll even see bumpers just lying around on the track after AI cars have collided with each other. The physics also feel more realistic than in the original Real Racing, you also have the options to toggle anti-skid and steering and breaking aids on or off to customise the level of realism. The game just feels so polished, everything from the menus to the gameplay itself. I have yet to play the multiplayer, but I’m expecting it to be good. It’s amazing how far games have come since the very first games were released on the App Store. The only downsides I can find at the moment are the lack of exotic and classic cars, but even without them the cars still feel varied enough and there are some good makes such as BMW, Jaguar, Lotus, Volkswagen etc. All in all, a highly polished racing game, worth every single penny. I give it 9.8/10.
I seem to have a sound bug problem, I am on the main menu after buying a car and the only sound was from the intro video, I checked the options but it's not turned off at all. I did a full power off power on cycle after installing to help the device. *fake edit* restarted the app and now I have sound.
Here is how RR2 looks on my 2g touch, it plays really smooth too and still maintains 16 cars and smoke effects in races, i'm impressed! BTW notice the winning time, my first race ever was that close!
Is it just me or does everyone online except this one guy suck ass? Everyone online sucks because they keep drifting on turns instead of using brakes so I end up pwning them all in my Volkswagen. And the one guy that doesn't suck somehow got a BMW. People learn to use your brakes. It might not sound like a great idea but your overall speed is greater than drifting.
I have a few more hours to wait for the iTunes to release RR2 in the US, and I'm looking forward to play online with you guys.
I've been online for the past couple of hours and i've been getting 1st or 2nd place almost every time. You are right; most the the people online need to learn how to drive. They suck! Oh well. I'm gonna take a break.
Is anyone else besides me a bit confused at the line up of licensed vehicles for this game? I just dont get how they have VW and volvo, chevy cobalt, ford focus, etc... to me it sounds like they went with these cars as a last ditch effort to fill in the gaps when they couldnt get Ferrari, lambroghini, mercedes, etc.
Think again. Do you think Ferrari and Lambroghini would give license to damage their vehicles in game?
I love how the damage isn't exclusive to your car. You can ram any of the other 16 cars and gradually make their bumper fall off
I'm REALLY not a fan of the game starting out with me being forced to buy a car. I went through all the makes and looked at all the pretty cars only to see that the only cars in the starting budget are the first VW and Volvo but since it's in alphabetical order they are all the way at the end Also, the "2010 Volvo C30 STCC" (catchy name right?) is messed up as the car is invisible with a layer of multicolored glitches all over it.
Game Impressions I'm seriously disappointed in this game, and I can't quite put my finger exactly on why. The best way I can describe it, is that the whole experience feels sterile. There's no excitement, no thrills. I'm simply not having any fun. Likely partial culprits: The sound is horrible. Muffled engine noise, wholly underwhelming collisions, etc. Uneven frame rate: fine with no other cars on screen, progressively worse the more are added. Overall though, I just feel like I am going through the motions. Possibly things may improve once faster cars are unlocked, but honestly I doubt it. Whatever that magic ingredient is, the "feel" of racing, of the way the car responds to your input and makes you feel in the driver's seat, is very conspicuously missing for me in this game.
Hmmm, I remember reading the 1995 McLaren F1 on the car list (on Firemint's website), but I can't find it in the game. There's only the 2010 MacLaren MP4-12C. I hope they haven't left it out and by some miracle you unlock it and it becomes visible. It was one of my favourite cars from my childhood.
Few weird things happening in multiplayer I lead one race from start to finish nobody overtook me yet I came second lol. Plus getting the usual idiots crap at the game get miles behind so decide to try and ram you off the track as you pass them when lapping them .
