Sorry to hear that, if you're using Game Center you should be able to access your backed up save data. Go to the Player Settings menu and select 'Restore Save'. Please visit http://www.firemint.com/support/ for more help.

We recently made some server changes to try to improve this (approx 12 hours ago), the most recent reports from players are telling us that it seems to have worked. Please check it out now, we'd love to hear how it is for you.

It has been fixed. (although there are occasional slow motion like symptoms) Thank you!

Real Racing 2 updated to 1.02.02

A new update for Real Racing 2 is now available for download from the App Store. Please download the update, reboot your device, and check it out!

We’ve made a number of performance optimizations to eliminate frame rate stuttering in-game. The result is a much smoother racing experience. Additionally, texture fidelity was sometimes reduced on older model devices running iOS 4.3. This issue has been addressed.

Multiplayer has seen several improvements, including randomized grid positioning, enhanced latency compensation for more precise car positioning and measures to prevent players from swapping cars before the start of a race. A crash triggered when exiting a multiplayer race has also been fixed.

An uncommon issue that would cause a player's progress to be erased temporarily and a problem that could prevent achievements from unlocking correctly have both been resolved.

We thank players for reporting these issues in detail - your help is greatly appreciated. Please continue to enjoy Real Racing 2 and we'll see you on the track!

My brother just got this game so I downloaded and played it, I'm pretty good at most video games, but I've never been very good at racing games, I switched over to manual acceleration and braking, for turns I kind of tap the accelerator on and off so as to keep traction, but I can't get past 10th place, I'm also playing on the medium difficulty, do you pros have any tips?

I use the first control option. auto accel and tap brake. I have the steering assist on. I focus on braking at the right time at the right spot. During the Quick race, watch the computers where they brake. Then remember the landmark where you need to brake for each turn. Also remember where you need to let go of the brake. I look for an object such as a construction crane to be aligned with my car and I let go of my brake. Sometimes you will have to listen for the downshift of the gear before you let go. I never look at the speed. Don't let the tires skid. That's when you lose time. Keep practicing and watch what lines the good drivers take. Usually the black tire marks are the standard line. First step is to stay on that line. If your car is not too fast for a given turn you will be able to stay on the correct line. Keep practicing. I am currently 181th.. driving the white Z4 M.

I find what works best on the turns is if you drive kinda on the curb thing because it slowers u down automaticly

I use auto-accel ... so it won't work for me. But on some turns I do have to drive on the rumble strip to go fast.

Can anyone confirm if there's no problem anymore with transferring save file?

Is it just me or is there no performance improvement for RR2 on iPhone 4? The framerate while racing is still nowhere as smooth as RR1. The intro cutscenes, though better than when it was released, still looks more choppy than a prehistoric flash animation. And the replay even looks more stuttery now than ever. Yes it's more stable as the framerate doesn't drop to 1 fps when there's particle fx, but what's the use if the whole replay is at 12 fps anyway? If anything, replay looks worse than before.

@Firemint_Sam: Any clarification? Is the performance improvement mainly targeted towards 3GS users? When will you optimise the game to have better framerate on iPhone 4??

Just read yesterday how to download a save file from the Firemint cloud. Worked perfectly, except one thing. When I'm offline, it reverts to the guest account because it can't contact the servers. However, when I touch my profile, and then hit the "x" button on that window to close it down, it brings back my car, and career. Not a big deal.

That sounds highly unusual, your frame rate should mostly be a steady 30fps. Are you running any Apps in the background, and have you tried rebooting your iPhone?

If you use Game Center you can find a backup. Go into the Player Settings menu in game and select 'Restore Save'.

I'm getting frame drops as well on my rebooted iPhone 4. What smooths it out is to force-quit a bunch of apps from the dock and get 300+ mb free then relaunch RR2. Also bumper cam runs smoother than cockpit view, as has been the case in my experience.

Ive found strange stuttering occuring during races since running the newest update. Thought maybe it was something to do with my jailbreak but after restoring to factory settings i found no difference.
using 4.3.1 on an iphone 4 btw

    To Sam from firemint,

I must say it really sucks that RR2 can barely run at 30fps on ip4 while RR1 is blazing fast and smooth on my old ip3gs. Will you at all ever decrease the environmental graphics in order to increase the frame rate?

Truth be told, besides the real cars of RR2, RR1 is the better more smooth and balanced racer.

Also I'm wondering if you will ever add divisions online? Because I'm sick and tired of racing against 70% F1s and being forced to use the stupid car myself if I ever want to win a race. What's the point of having 30+ cars in there if by design, everyone is forced to use ONE car mainly????

Also I would love it if a map would be picked randomly instead of by vote cause as it stands I'm sick of racing in the same 4 maps that everyone tends to vote for ALL THE TIME!

    Thanks

I suspect McLaren secretly paid a nice deal of money for that kind of favouritism, lol.

    @Firemint Sam:
You see, it's not as 'highly unusual' as you think or want us to think:

Thing is, my eyes are kinda trained so I can easily distinguish 10 fps, 15 fps, 20 fps, 30 fps or 60 fps. And the game is nowhere near 30-fps-steady. It's sometimes smooth during the game but the intro cutscenes and replay video (from dynamic angles) both have choppy framerate. It used to be much much worse when particle fx appears and could go down to 1-2 fps, and it's not just me ass I read a few reports saying the same thing.

I'm running it on a 32gb iPhone 4 with 15gb free memory and no background task (email check, notifications, etc) or running apps. If you want, I can try deleting and reinstalling the game, but would I be able to restore my save file if I do that?
