I'd take more cars over more events any day, to be honest, but a great update nonetheless, making one of the best games in the store even better. However, there are some gameplay mechanics that need some huge improvements...
I actually think there is a performance improvement. Someone else should check, in case it's just me and a placebo, but it does feel smoother.
EDIT: They made the graphics worse. that's why performance is better. Now instead of the realistic glare from where the sun is on your car, you just see this little star shaped twinkle object. It probably uses fewer resources.
I'm not talking about performance issues. I have a 2nd gen and the game runs great. I'm actually talking about the physics of the game, and not some retarded physics complaint either. Speed seems to have no effect on how badly a collision is, and the effects of crashing is completely inconsistent and incredibly frustrating.
more new races eh? I just finished up all the previous races last night and was hoping to be done with it, they really dropped the ball with the terrible brakes and grip levels, I am all for simulation and making games feel more real but RR2 is a case of 'if you skid, restart' races, lose rear wheel grip and nearly all 16 cars will pass you without warning, really terrible design :/ Skid sideways into a barrier at a moderate speed and your car will randomly do a 720 degree spin messing you over big time, there's crashing and theres forcing your car to rotate from a rub.
I can't seem to keep up with other cars in career mode, I purchased a Volvo c30, and upgraded my top speed with the remaining money but it seems in races I'm quickly left behind. What gives? I tried turning off all assistants and I still can't match the speed of the other cars. Anyone else have this problem?
This game has an abnormally steep learning curve and will likely crush the resolve of most casual gamers. It can be mastered, like any game, but a certain level of dedication is required to achieve success and that level ultimately goes far beyond the effort that a typical casual gamer is willing to give. In other words, yes. Plenty of people have had this problem and because the Appstore is ripe with an abundance of alternative options, I imagine I'm not the only person who deleted this game from off their iDevice. I haven't completely moved on though, since I did pay 9.99 for it. I doubt that the difficulty settings have been adjusted with this update. It would mention something to that effect on the update itself if that were the case.
To be honest, I don't think the difficulty of the game is affected by whether you are a casual or hardcore gamer. It's really just whether if you know racing or not. If you don't, but you are logical, learning how to be a better racer will be very easy. If you are a slow learner or don't have the best logic, learning how to be a better racer will be very difficult. And of course, if you were already originally a good racer, then the game should be very straightforward.
I've been informed that the little glint effect hasn't changed at all since the launch of the game (assuming this is what you're talking about). There were some memory optimizations in the 1.02 update which may have indirectly improved performance.
Maybe that's the case, but I am a pretty avid simulation racing game fan having mastered most of the Gran Turismo and Forza games. I even use racing wheel peripherals for my home consoles.. In fact, I didn't have this problem with the games predecessor, which is why I'm confused why my car just seems so out classed. I suppose I'll start a new career and pick the VW instead of the Volvo... :-/
Can you please post a screenshot of what you mean? If they indeed keep making the graphics worse I'd rather not download this update. There's no significant improvement like new difficulty mode (a real normal mode) or better physics anyway.
All the physics problems would be solved if the cars could crumple. But I seriously don't understand why everyone is complaining so much about everything in this game. From cars to physics to difficulty to not enough content in an update, everything's a problem. The cars rock, they look sweet and I seriously doubt everyone's bought them all so I don't see a need for more cars. The physics are retarded because these cars obey the laws of conservation of momentum to the letter. And if the difficulty is still a problem for you (even with all these assists) you obviously haven't played this game enough
It's great that you enjoy the game, but that doesn't mean you must force your RR love to everyone who doesn't agree with you by defending everything about the game. As I said in my previous post, the game is great. For me, it has better controls, cars, scenery and graphics, but that doesn't mean it has no flaw. Of course they can always ignore our criticism, after all they've got our money. Fortunately they're a bit more open to feedback than you.
I'd just like to reiterate a point here - we're always open to constructive criticism, in fact we really appreciate hearing the concerns of our players. We're committed to improving the game with updates. Feel free to visit our support site to add to any discussions going on over there, or to add new ideas/feedback (it's much easier for us to track bugs/suggestions over there).
Thanks (Sam?), very happy to hear you care about your customers, shows your love for the game more than anything Just one quick question: Did you in anyway downgrade the graphics on iPhone 4 since version 1.0.0? Some said 1.0.1 made the graphics worse and it's even worse in 1.0.2? Hope it's not true? (Don't lie I've saved heaps of screenshots to compare the glare, scenery and everything ) Will soon visit your support site!
As far as I'm aware there have been no downgrades to any of the visuals, my reply a couple of hours ago regarding the small glint effect is definitely true (it hasn't changed).
You do realize I called the physics retarded. Fortunately, I'm a little more tolerant and forgiving of these minor problems than you Aaand I'm pretty sure I pointed out the obvious more than forced opinions down peoples' throats.
No I don't realize that, but do you realize I'm not the most vocal about the physics either? I was and am more critical about framerate. However, if that comes with the cost of dumbed down graphics and no other significant things like improved physics, more cars, etc - then I'd rather not download it. Just call it no enough incentives
That's a relief! Just one more quick question: Is it true that turning off music and or sound fx improves performance? What about heads up display? Any other tricks to improve performance?
