I believe the map is Forino Valley, so if it isn't, this is gonna be completely unhelpful. - This map is all about mastering turns. If you don't, just losing control just a little bit will send you into the dirt where it will be VERY hard to recover and still win the race. So make sure you focus on the basics: enter slow, exit fast, and when possible, just loosen off the gas pedal instead of braking. This being said, a good number of turns on the map provide you angles where you can "cut" through them. This is hard to explain and you will need a lot of skill in not losing control of your car, but it will save you a lot of time. Basically you want to take as straight a route possible through a turn by going off course through dividers and sand (and sometimes even dirt). On some turns on Forino Valley, going through the rough terrain will slow you down just enough to get to the other side of the turn without losing as much speed as simply braking on asphalt. Hopefully this made some sense... - On the straightaway where the airplanes are in view on the left, you MUST take advantage of this section. For some reason the AI simply does not go the fastest they can here, and they brake WAY too easily. I have screwed up earlier in the map and caught up plenty of times in this section. What you need to do is make sure you take care in the turn coming in so you can race through the straightaway at your fastest speed. Pay attention to the planes on the left, because there is absolutely NO need to brake until you cannot see any parts of the plane. - Using opponent cars to squeeze your way through a turn is very important on this map when the opportunity arises, since it puts you ahead of the pack while it puts the person you bumped a little bit behind, especially at a sharp turn. Basically, use other cars as walls to get you around a turn without even having to loosen off the gas pedal by bumping into them. - If you find yourself getting leads and then doing mistakes that send you from 1st to 4th, consider simply trailing the opponents. Just follow the others, slow down when they slow down, speed up when they speed up, and then on the last lap, take the lead on the straightaway with the planes.
Using a BMW GT class car right now but every fast car I have driven has been the same outside of some minor car characteristics.
why does te upload to YouTube option not appear in time trial unless I beat a previous record. is it supposed to be like that?
This is working as intended. Not yet, sorry. I'll be sure to pass on any new information when we're ready.
Am I the only one with the following problem? Whenever I let go of the brakes (touch steering), my car starts driving in a straight line, even though I have been turning the wheels all throughout the braking maneuver. I can't finish a single race (except for the first few, where braking is hardly needed, or mistakes are easy to compensate for), as any amount of braking during when not driving in a straight line will run me into the wall.
Hi Ayjona, I've just given this a test myself using control method E and it seems to be working fine for me. Has anyone else had this issue?
Yes, I had the feeling there would be more noise about it, had it been common. I am trying to figure out if I am doing anything else wrong, or if there is some multi-touch issue with the screen on my iPhone 4. Regardless, I come to the same conclusion every time: using the brakes while turning causes my turning to be interrupted, which, at the delightfully high speeds these races run at, is often enough to loose the race.
I may have misunderstood your issue, is this what you meant? http://getsatisfaction.com/firemint/topics/problem_with_method_e_turn_right_while_braking
Yes, it sounds just like my problems. And just like the fella in that thread, I've made sure I am touching the right spot in the middle, the brake lights light up in external mode before I lose control, etc.
Hi All - Just wanted to chime in with two thoughts. First, I'm back to playing RR2 on my 3 GS and it is my fav racing game great fun and the detail on the cars is amazing. Second, I have complained about the graphics elsewhere in this thread but am ok with it now. There are a few spots where seeing runs is difficult and Alkeisha Island seems especially guilty. I think the issue may be less with the graphics quality per se and more with chooses about sun, shading, and color/brightness of barriers. There are several turns where the onside barrier and outside wall seem to blend. This seems usually due to both barriers being in he shade and being dark. I end up turning early or late, either resulting into hitting a barrier. I'm no asking for a "make all barriers glow"'or "gaping large arrows" solution - and I believe Firement is more savvy and subtle than that (thank goodness). But addressing the few corners where it's hard to see where we are going may be worthwhile n
I'm sure as all of you should know, I have probably given RR2 more praise than anybody else here. However, day after day, I'm encountering more and more nuisances that is quickly degrading my stance on the game. First off, this problem has been around for a billion years but no Firemint employee on this site or their official support site has even bothered to address it (which really perplexes me). It seems that either the physics in the game have no consideration for speed at all, or speed doesn't have any effect on the physics. I can crash into a wall at 150-200 MPH at times without losing control of my car, and other times, I'll crash into a wall at not even 100 MPH and my car will do complete circles and even get ungrounded. The same goes with skidding/drifting. I can enter a turn at the same angle at fast speeds without losing traction, and I'll enter a turn at slower speeds at basically the same angle and completely skid. This inconsistency makes getting better times in Time Trial completely frustrating. My second gripe is with the leaderboards. I let this one slide when the game first got released because: 1) the game just got released 2) Firemint has already said they would fix this. It's been over a month now, and the same problems still exist. The positions you view in the Leaderboard is limited, you either view the top 10ish or so or you click 'Find Me' and view the positions around your rank. I don't understand why the 'Prev'/'Top'/'Next' and other buttons from the post-game display don't stay in the regular Leaderboard display. 'Find Me' is still as glitchy as ever, it either doesn't even find me or finds someone completely different. Worst, connections are completely unpredictable. I'll view the leaderboards for a couple tracks with no ease, and all of a sudden it tells me I can't establish a connection with Cloudcell. Sometimes I will come right out of a multiplayer game only to say I can't view the leaderboards because I'm not connected to Cloudcell. Lastly, there are countless bugs I've encountered as I keep playing the game. Naturally, a game of this scope will have bugs, but some that I've encountered are simply ridiculous. I've started the game before only to find that my entire progress I completed in my last play session was completely erased (or not saved in the first place), so I'm forced to replay those events another time. I've also started the game only to find the calibration totally whack. I always put it on a table when it's loading so it calibrates properly, and normally calibration will be fine. But occasionally, it will completely be to the right/left even though I always put my device on a table when I load. RR2 is slowly becoming more and more like Angry Birds. It was fun at first, but it simply gets frustrating, impossible to deal with, and a waste of time. Angry Birds was deleted a long time ago, and while I'm not at that point with RR2 yet, these problems are certainly doing their part in leading me down that path. Not to mention the limited amount of cars in the game....I might be finding myself going back to RR1 sooner than later.
Do you find RR1 more fun than this sequel? I'm thinking about picking this up because the lack of licensed cars in the first one is kinda off-putting for me.
