It builds consumer confidence to see you introduce yourself and attempt to summarize the most urgent issues (audio muting/drop-outs, loss of progress, and crashing), but the issues are not limited to those. The corrupted Cloudcell functionality, which has been verified to be buggy and unreliable (in the most charitable assessment - my experience suggests the sync function is broken), severely limits the much touted competitive aspects Real Racing 2. ( Remember that many people are driving in the opposite direction in multiplayer, so Time Trials remain the purest an assessment of skill so far, provided everyone else is able to unlock the F1). Anyone from my area could go into a retail chain, buy a 4th-gen iPod touch, install Real Racing 2 with Game Center already enabled, play Time Trial for a few hours, and then see the same disordered leader boards in which the "find me" function finds someone else, or at times fail to see any leader board entries whatsoever. So your verified bug list, while by no means all-inclusive, restores confidence in your company's intention to fix things, but I can guarantee that every bug in Real Racing 2 that I've mentioned in this thread is reproducible on more than a handful of devices. I've already made one unposted video that shows the audio suddenly being muted at a low-battery warning, and that's the least annoying bug out of the half dozen or so I've encountered.
That's definitely true, GT Racing is underrated. It remains the most realistic racing game with the most cars, the most variety in cars and the most content (It took me 54 hours to reach 100% completion). Real Racing 2 is also a great game, but in different ways. It has more polished graphics/menus, the 16 player races make it fun and the online multiplayer is great.
I don't know if anybody's already mentioned this, the thread is too long for me to read it all. I had a bug in the Exige Elimination event. Each time I restarted the race, the camera would move to the ground under the car, facing backwards. I had to hit the rear view for a moment to correct the viewpoint. This seems unlikely, but it may have happened because I put my phone down for a while upside down. Maybe it's related to the screen orientation flipping?
GT lived on my device for a long time and enjoyed many hours with it. I prefer RR2 but don't deny the appeal of GT. Gameloft's candy bright color palmate doesn't appeal to be, but again personal choice. I did enjoy that it had rally-esque events and that is what prompted me to request it RR2. But the cars float and the driving just doesn't feel as good to me. I may re-install later and give it another go.
For those who've played both extensively--what improvements really stand out in RR2 over RR1 (what I own)?
The courses are more challenging and memorable. Having 15 other cars on the track also leads to a real feeling of racing, especially at the higher difficulties where I find myself not out front. The increase in graphic detail is obvious and I bet the looks crazy perfect on a retina display (I have 3GS). Real cars, which look astounding, are also on tap this time around. I have both and find I switch back to RR2 very quickly when I try RR1 now. RR2 is just way more fun for me.
Anyone knows his is determinated the starting posution in multiplayer? I joined a room as third but I started as the last one
I've actually loved GT racing for the longest time. Having booted it up last night, I found out why I stopped playing it. Snow racing was the worst display of "fun" in a game. Now I've never raced on snow, and never plan to, but I hope shit doesn't go down like that in real life. Your car shouldn't be stuck in perma-hydroplane mode and quite frankly, it was far more frustrating than it was worth. However, on tarmac, things were quite a bit more enjoyable. Comparably, the physics were probably better on GT Racing than RR2, by a fair bit. And the car selection? Miles ahead. Customization is also a bit "deeper" (on a scale of 1-10, it's like a 3, vs a 2.5 for RR2) for what it's worth. Car models weren't quite there, and track design was pretty abysmal. Real life tracks, all two or three of them (I only knew Laguna Seca tbh), were pretty badly modeled in my eyes. Bottomline: GT Racing wasn't... fun. Kinda like the real GT5. Not fun, but the sheer number of cars and customization available kept you coming back for more. Except there were fewer cars (albeit still a lot, especially for an iOS game), and almost no customization to speak of.
I agree. GT Racing physics on asphalt seem more accurate than RR2, though they are perhaps a bit too "springy"? However, the rallies (dirt/mud) and snow is just awful. Extremely weird and crap physics on these surfaces. Another huge problem with GT Racing is that the AI extremely crappy. It's damn easy to beat them. I often finish a good 30 seconds before the AI. RR2 is a bit of a challenge when it's set to hard.. but even here upgrading your car will make it easy to beat the AI. I wish the AI would upgrade their cars as well, to get some variety. Anyhow, I'm very happy to have paid full price for RR2 and feel like I've lost a dollar when I got GT academy at the 0.99$ sale. My vote goes to RR2. It's definitely the better experience. Cheers!
Chris (and the rest of the development team) are well aware of the issues still in the game and I can assure you they're working hard on solutions. All of these issues will be addressed in updates, we're tracking them at our support site. If you've contributed to the discussions over there, thanks! If not, please feel free to add your thoughts there. It's much easier for us to track issues on our support site than it is to trawl through various forums linking up specific comments.
I'd just like to reiterate this. If you're seeing a crazy texture bug on the 2010 Volvo C30 STCC car, it's because you're playing the pirated version. Please do not waste our time by reporting it to us/demanding that we fix it - we'd rather devote our time to legitimate issues.
The app keeps crashing in the 6th tier when I try to get my cash for the final result. It also crashes for the 5th tier, in head to head race in maybach beach or whatever it's called. Fix.
Thanks for posting this! Looks like we've got a typo in the support url. Should be http://www.firemint.com/support
This is GLORIOUS. It really sucks that a game this good is being pirated, but it is pretty hilarious looking back through this thread and seeing all the pirates outing themselves. Now... to ban or not to ban is the question!
Has anyone been able to get the pacemaker achievement to unlock with this new version? What about Cloudcell Time Trial submissions and in-game leaderboard display? Although I never encountered the trophy bug, I tried the "clear cache" function mentioned in reference to that bug in hope that it might somehow reorder the jumbled in-game lists, and found that my 0:55.10 time for Alkeisha Island from a couple days ago was finally displayed next to the correct vehicle type (F1) on that list, but _not_ in the correct relative position (#4 is indicated, but scrolling down the list via the "next" tag reveals a few lower times in 10-20 rank; "find me" on other tracks still finds someone else). The info for this new update doesn't mention Cloudcell or time trials, but I'm going to reinstall, restore online save game, and keep my fingers crossed anyway.
