That could be one of many reasons, too. I don't want to seem like a fanboy, but I think it is illogical to criticize Firemint when the majority of consumers can play the game without crashes- even 1G and 2G users. IF the game indeed does have a major crashing bug, it is only triggered by a something shared by the minority of people.
Still, hope this catches on cause the lack of Online Save is the reason i have to keep many games that i've already completed on my iPhone
downloaded directly from the device ( I have strong wifi ) the crashes occurs because of the gamesave, not the game itself, if I create a new profile, the game will work again for a few hours, then it will crash again I've already got this glitch twice (1st time happened around 7 hours of gameplay, and second time around 9 hours )
Anyone else having audio issues? Sometimes my audio just stops working on this game. It works fine for other games. I go into settings and its turned on. Sometimes if reboot my device it still doesn't work. Very weird, the intro video still has sound but nothing else.
Corrupted Cloudcell data is not limited to a handful of players. Their whole system is essentially borked, and should be openly acknowledge by Firemint as being buggy. Notice the ordering of times edit: Coincidentally, my account (lukwtwz) is apparently being blocked from the Cloudcell server, either because of aforementioned bugginess or for some other reason. I bought this app within minutes of its release last wednesday night, and I'm not jailbroken. I've tried much in the way of troubleshooting, including reinstalling both via itunes and over wifi. Even the Youtube upload function no longer reports "added to upload queue," but instead remains stuck on a greyed-out "processing," despite my prior successful attempts at uploading lower-ranking replays. Only once per session do time trials progress to the in-app leaderboard screen, and even then the anomalies from screenshots above occur. Last edit: So that no one tries to make this into a flustered noob issue (screenshot from a day ago, when Cloudcell still accepted the occasional submission): It's worth noting that every single time trial score made it to Game Center, so currently the lists returned by Firemint's Cloudcell are a small subset of the former.
Phew...So when I buy my dual core iPod touch 5G with 512-768MB RAM and a new SGX 540 graphics chip I'll still have my save game data. Let' stick a 2MP camera on too ( anything better than the current 0.7MP (I don't see upgrading to a 4G as worth it.)
Here's what I found on the web. A real review! When I got my little iPhone 3g two years ago, the very first racing game I downloaded was Real Racing 1 and since then I never looked back. Yes the game did not have real cars but none of that mattered because the main ingredient was there full force. The game was fun, fast pace, exciting. I used to enjoy rear-ending an NPC at full speed just for the fun of throwing it off course. And it never disappoints. About Three months ago, I found out that firemint was working on Real Racing 2 and I became enraged with excitement. The thought of Real Racing 1 now with real cars, more maps, more cars on screen was just too good to be true. Now, after playing the heck out of RR2, yes folk, it was too good to be true. In this review, I will tell you of all the good AND BAD that comes with real racing 2 unlike those paid, cooked up, fanboy reviews that only talk about the good points. Graphics: 8/10 RR2 has what is truly awe inspiring graphics at times. Especially in the night levels. The sun setting while piercing through the clouds provide a really great breathtaking view. The photo realistic trees towering before a mountain back drop. It all looks great and really out did RR1. But all of this eye candy didn't come without a cost. Although the majority of the fanboys and paid so-called game journalists won't admit it, RR2 not only doesn't run at the blazing 60FPS RR1 dishes, but on my iP4, the game can barely maintains 25 FPS never mind the 30. In fact there are particular times in most races where I can almost see the individual frames, especially if a rider in front of me is kicking some dust up in the air, it all goes down hill from there. This frame rate problem isn't just the bane of RR2 for me, however it rips the soul of RR1 right out with it. The sheer sense of speed and smoothness that exist in RR1 is simply absent here. All the cars regardless whether it's a ford focus or BMW Z3 LOOK to be traveling at the same speed even though the speedometer wants you to believe otherwise. In RR1, I didn't need to look at the speedometer to know I was going over 130 with an exotic, it was hard not to notice the tremendous inertia. At the end of the day, while I do appreciate better graphics, let's be real for a minute here firemint; RR1 didn't exactly have bad graphics. In fact it's still a very good looking game next to RR2. Therefore the trade off to bring the game to a terrible frame rate to offer better graphics and more cars on screen simply was the wrong decision. Sound: 7/10 The sound here is a mix bag really. While there's some great sound tracks for you to race to, what is bothersome is the lack of sound in areas where there used to be sound in RR1. The majority of the time when I bump and grind with an NPC, there's no sound to let me know I just rear-ended a car. In fact the only time I hear a "bump" or "thud" sound is if I rear-end a car going at full speed. And the sound always comes out late (after the hit happens). There's also a few bugs that will rob you of the game sound entirely if the app goes in the background. It's not consistent, but it happens often enough times to be cumbersome. I'm sure it's nothing that can't be fixed with an update. However, will an update fix the missing sound effects? One can only hope! Gameplay: 7/10 To put it very simply, RR2 has a very engaging career mode which will keep you busy for a while... That is if you don't get bored or frustrated with the game first. Change is good when it makes sense. But in RR2's case, many things were changed that were near PERFECT in RR1. Having real cars in the game is a GOOD change. Having a cheap (very cheap) Ai that rubber-bands past you at the slightest drift is BAD not to mention FRUSTRATING. Because cars will drift no matter what and we have no way to measure when we are making a turn to know the exact moment our car is about to drift even as we are slowing down. In RR1, drifting would slow down your car as well, just in a realistic manner. In RR2, after paying close attention, no only does my car seem to slow down drastically at the slightest drift, BUT the AI seems to have some invisible nitrous that rockets them pass you the majority of the time. That same nitrous must also be what keeps them from slowing down no matter how many times they ride on grass or sand. There are times where I'm on the tarmac and an NPC is passing me riding on the grass. A cheap AI and a punishing drift implementation by firemint simply makes the game frustrating and turns every race into a boring affair. The fun I used to have in RR1 simply is not available. I can't battle with the AI cause my hits have zero effect on them the majority of the time. I can't have any fun taking a corner carelessly because a 1 second drift will simultaneously activate invisible nitrous for the NPCs. So all that is left for me is to jump from one boring race to another. Replay Value: 8/10 There's a lot to do in RR2 if you can manage to not fall asleep or throw your iphone at the wall first. There's a 16 player online that is so far more concept than reality. Every single online matches I have played consisted of players teleporting, the game telling me I was in first place when all along I was not, and just more of the same. It got better after firemint's server side update, but the problems are still there. Just not as pronounced as before. While I understand firemint not being able to predict how the online would fare, what really baffles me however is why would they not have divisions like they do in career mode? How is online supposed to be fun (if it worked fine) when a newbie who is driving a little ford focus finds himself going agaisnt BMWs, GTRs, F1s and such? What the heck was firemint thinking with that one??? Final Verdic: RR2 looks great but runs like crap. The real cars look awesome, just don't try to do anything fun with them like drifting in a corner or rear ending the NPCs as that will cost you dearly. After having my share of frustrations and boredom with RR2, I decided to start playing RR1 from scratch for a better comparison and while everyone have their own preference and such, despite RR2's better graphics, real cars, more maps, better career mode, better online (if it ever worked right) mode - it's ironic but true that RR1 is still the FUN and BETTER racer. Furthermore, I'm having a hard time believing the same team who developed RR1 is the same one who cooked up this pretty package with no personality and fun. RR2 is for those who want to drive real cars until they fall asleep. RR1 is for those who want to have fun driving fake cars without the exaggerations of RR2. Final Score: 7.5/10
I just started getting this crash last night after I click on 'Continue' after a race is completed. Never had this issue before. So I'm going to delete the game and re-install and see if that solves the issue. And in case we are keeping track of info related to the crash I have an Iphone 4 running 4.2.1 Non jailbroken I'm about halfway through the career and I was trying to save some money doing the $20k Head to Head when it started crashing, However it does crash on any race I do now.
still trolling this thread, eh? it cracks me up when someone shows up every day to tell you how bad a game sucks. can't you just do this once and get over it? what's with the need to come back every day? i really just don't understand... i'm glad it took you 4 days to find someone that agrees with you. congrats.
