Power-induced oversteer is caused by lifting and hitting the brakes before a turn (thus weight transfer forward, making the back lighter), which results in RWD usually losing traction (more specifically, the inside rear tyre upon a turn). I'm not asking for separate drift physics. I'm just saying a good physics engine already takes into account what happens when traction is lost (aka NOT immediate and painful deceleration, in fact, you can still accelerate without full traction, there's just power loss in the wheels).
i just downloaded the game and haven't played much so my opinion doesn't really count until i get some wheel time. that being said, i love that people can't dive bomb into corners at full speed without penalty. i love solid racing physics. the forza series on xbox is the definitive experience when it comes to a real, legitimate, mathematically based physics engine and is the barometer for all of my judgement. to even try to replicate that on a handheld device is, in this technological wave, an impossibility. if you can't have legitimate physics engine that is 100% true to life...if programming corners have to be cut...i'd rather they punish the idiots that don't know how to follow a racing line than hinder those that do.
I find this game plays significantly better without all the assits turned on. I like to have complete control of the car. I have had no problems with the game on my iPhone 4. No bad textures, no loss of sound, and no crashes. BTW did anyone else notice that the 3 status buttons at the top of the screen are shortcuts to the Pitlane? All in all I would say it is the best racing game on the iOS platform.
Yep I did. I'm having a good time with the game. But the iPhone battery just died so I must take a break. I notice that higher resolution games like this and Infinity Blade really kill the battery. From 100% to the 10% warning in less than 4 hours. EDIT: After reading my post again it seems like I had it right. Just turn all the assits off. Was what I was trying to say.
Amazing game. First thing I did was turn off all assisted controls and switched to the on screen steering/acceleration/brakes. Turned the sensitivity down and now it's perfect. Just lightly rocking my thumb back and forth gives me the precision steering I need.
Thats pretty dam skilled, if you are able to do that with fairly quick cars. How are you with the super quick cars? For example the most expensive lotus, which i am using at the moment.
Oh I'm sorry BTW, the multiplayer sucks. When you approach other cars, they seem to be still, but when you pass them, they pass you with an incredible speed of 1000 Mph. It annoying and it's lacks od realism. I prefer less cars like 5 on multiplayer (in this case there were 10) but with no lag and all this strange things.
Im just reading through the topic and not sure if anyone answered this yet, but from what I can tell, if you are multi-tasking the ipod(music), even if it is paused and your music isn't playing, when you load up RR2 it won't have music. Also when I receive a text message the sound cuts out. It is probably just a minor bug which will be fixed. For now just delete the ipod/text in your multi-tasking and the sound should work(in my experience).
This happens with some apps, and you can usually fix it by opening the multi-tasking trey and killing the app. Then just reopen the app. I'm sure it is something in the way iOS handles sound, and not something specifically to do with Real Racing.
Umm, pretty much 90% of posts in this thread are giving positive feedback, and literally EVERY major, dependable review site is giving this game rave reviews. Give multiplayer some time. I doubted 16 players from the get-go and while I think it might be doable, it definitely will lag especially when so many people are getting into the game currently. I think Firemint will upgrade their servers as they see fit, or maybe even (hopefully) switch to Game Center. Pretty much what you're saying is that you enjoy unrealistic arcade crap and not a realistic experience. Thanks for the heads-up. The only thing I agree you on is with the car collisions. The realism of that needs to be bumped up quite a bit. What?!
