iPad Real Racing 2 - (by Firemint)

Discussion in 'iPhone and iPad Games' started by ImNoSuperMan, Dec 15, 2010.

  1. infinty blade has good graphics sure, it was great on my ipod touch 4g, but i got bored of the graphics in 5 mins. graphics don't make games.

infinity blade is boring and repetitive. i'm going to try out aralon, the graphics aren't as nice, but the game overall looks better.

man the day when they finally make a decent game with unreal engine for the iphone/ipod, then i'd be happy. infinity blade and rage just seems like tech demos to me, displaying the graphical capabilities but not much content it the game. they are basically trying to make quick bucks off the hype of the unreal engine for ios.....and many people bought in that hype. rage and infinity blade are both horrible games.

Start trying to keep your momentum through the turns and you start to increase average speed. Once your doing about 150 mph avg speed through the course there is definately a sense of speed.

The feel of the cars in GT PSP is really good though they really do handle perfectly I don't know how many times I've got a real rush out of flying a GTR around Nurburgring. And the game is super smooth it looks slow on videos but when your playing it it's a real fight keeping the cars on the track it's a very underated game but they did ruin it quite a bit by not having a career mode.

I think Real Racing 2 is everything I wanted and more it's pretty much made all my other IOS driving games obsolete in one purchase and I do think the car details among other things look better than GT PSP.

I think it's safe to say this is the only driving game I'll be playing for quite a while.

Man, this is probably the best purchase I've made since SFIV. And if Firemint can offer the same updates and support SFIV has been providing (even paid updates or DLCs), it's looking to quickly unseat that. Definitely the MVP of the bunch today, and that's saying a lot. On any other other day, Aralon/Nova 2/Dungeon Defender/Shadow Guardian (the first two I also purchased, with plans on upgrading to 4.2 for DD) would easily be game of the week, or even game of the month.

But not today! Real Racing has established itself head and shoulders above the rest, definitely a game for the ages. Looking forward to future updates; please take more of my money! A Forza/GT reputation is definitely in the making -- who says monopoly is a bad thing?

@IGN: GOY needs to be reconsidered.

I think at any given time the indicated speed is at least 50mph greater than what it looks like

also I feel that braking and handling got a lot worse
it's much harder to regain grip when you skid now
if I so much as touch dirt/grass I skid sideways all the way until I hit the wall

Since I have some idea how much extra processing power required to implement as "small" mirror on top of the screen, I would not ask for it, until much later, may be when the GPU of the future iOS would be as powerful as GeForce 3 or so...

I am feeling the otherwise. No, I don't own a real Golf GTR TSI, but according to my petit Honda Jazz, running at 100 km/h in real life feels like running at 160+ at RR2...

On the other hand, I have no idea what off-course skidding was like in real life (thank goodness!), but if you are running at 140+ km/h, hit sand/grass which takes away the traction real fast, I guess what RR2 is showing is more or less expected, but the rebound is a bit, well, over the top.... :)

Well, one man's fun could be the other's boredom. Everyone has different mileage and I respect that, fully.

Humm, let me introduce to you "Dungeon Defenders: First Wave", it is yet another game based on Unreal Engine. Just out earlier today. Give it a look, may be:

Maybe you should have played them a little before showing such a big amount of suspicious rage.

Those "oldschool gamers" are always sceptical whenever something is coded over 640 x 480 but they are not able to recognize the modern versions of 'House of the Dead" and "Punch Out", definitely an optic problem imo

I swear driving on dirt slows you down faster than your brakes do

  15. i wouldn't have said they suck if i have not played them myself.

    2 MAJOR bugs: (iPhone 4, iOS 4.1)

#1: If you press home button 2x while in game/menu/wherever and return to game (not quitting the game!) no sounds continue to play!

#2: This Volvo car has f**ked up textures.

Sometimes last night I used dirt on sharp corners to slow down better then brakes, I try not to do that but if I left it to late braking... dirt works better :/

Game is great and good fun so far, the cpu cars on normal seem to be very follow the line drones but with 15 of them against me I can understand that, especially on an older device.

Brakes feel very weak now and most likely done to bring a little more sim into the game, some of the faster cars I have had a chance to use in head to heads feel a lot more "real racing" like then the starter cheaper cars, so don't worry the game is still very much real racing with those faster cars. Buying the brakes upgrade helps a little bit too.
