So, during yesterdays fiasco (see here), I learned that we are able to download FW 2.2.1 from public sites to use for our own. The same file is contained in a folder on our computer that has iTunes installed. Also in that folder is the same type of file for the 3.0 update. My question is: since 2.2.1 is re-distributable, is 3.0 as well? I suppose an easy way to test this would be to send the file to some one then have the do a recovery restore, unless there is a way to select an update file via the "update" button. What do you guys think? Note: I have an iPod Touch, so I had to pay $10 for this (which I disagree with entirely.) Note #2: It seems that saying "I have an iPod Touch, so I had to pay $10 for this (which I disagree with entirely.)" leaves room for people to PM me asking if I got it for free. So, I shall further reiterate that I paid for it.
Yup, you can. Don't know if it's legal or not, but yeah. You have to do shift+restore, and look for the file. REMEMBER TO BACKUP BEFORE! it doesn't prompt you, if you don't, you'll lose EVERYTHING.
