So my iPhone went on the fritz today and I was forced to restore. I had bought two albums using the iTunes app on my iPhone downloaded by wifi. I have no back up from after these were purchased.

Will I be charged again if I buy the albums on iTunes on my computer?

You will be, but explain the situation to Apple Support and I'm sure they'll be okay with granting you another download of the music.

Main reason I'll never buy music from itunes way to easy to lose your whole collection at least with a CD you can rerip it. Itunes support will probably let you redownload though the first few times if you beg enough eventually they will want you to rebuy it though.

I expect the music companys are more to blame for this than apple though.

Thanks for the info guys! I was hoping it would be the same for songs as it is for Apps, as long as you're using the same account. jerks

What if you lose the CD? It's much faster to back up MP3s multiple times.

Mp3s come from ripping CD's originally. CD's also give you the option of ripping any format you want even lossless like FLAC.

I just prefer a physical copy I know I can rip at will as my devices and formats change.

You can contact Apple to "reset" your downloads if you lose your entire collection - allowing you to re-download everything one more time.

They're pretty tight about this (i.e. good luck getting them to do it more than once) so only ask them as a last resort. As another poster said, for one album you'd be easier off buying it again, then "report a purchase" from your account in iTunes, then explain the situation.

You know when you buy music from iTunes you can burn it onto a CD, right? I've only purchased one album through iTunes but the first thing I did was burn it off to CD and rerip it into MP3. The original AAC files are long gone but I still have the backups.

This why DRM sucks for people that are actually buying music.
