Unfortunately, enjoyment isn't something a company can put in their balance sheet or use to pay their employees. For every "hardcore" gamer who despise the F2P model there are dozens of casual gamers with a smartphone that try almost every free game, who will NEVER buy a game upfront without knowing what they are getting for the money, but who will potentially spend lots of money after getting engaged to the game, just to keep up playing/getting stronger characters/buildings/whatever. That's why F2P works so well: the AppStore isn't just a place for gamers, it's mainly a place for people that never got into gaming and the F2P model is just the best way to appeal to those people, have them try your game, make them attached to your game so that they'll WANT to pay to keep on playing. That's why F2P yields far more revenue than a premium game. Casual players will always be more than hardcore gamers and when it comes to profit, quantity is the only thing that counts. The thing that's driving me crazy is that every F2P game gets many "hardcore"gamers so mad to the point that they don't even try it. Dudes, it's FREE. Why don't you just give it a try and see for yourself if the F2P is implemented in a good or awful way? Maybe you could also get a few hours of fun from those games before deciding to delete them. I always thought that playing games brings us enjoyment and fun from the time spent playing. Is it so imperative to finish every game and collect every single thing in them to have such enjoyment? I think that we could afford to try and have fun even with F2P titles as long as the F2P doesn't get in the way of enjoying the game. And when it happens, we coud just delete it and move on. What would we lose by doing that? I thing we'd still having what we look for in a game, that is entertainment. I'm giving a try to this. And when boredom comes, I'll give a try to another game. I don't see any problem with that.
Please please make a premium version. This game has so much potential and just ridiculous that it's wasted on f2p. Let me give you $4.99 and then you let me play.
I just don't understand why there can't be the best of both worlds scenario. Just put a "premium game unlock" IAP in your game. The casuals get to spend nothing up front and get hooked on consumables, and the hardcore gamers can pay your asking price and be done with it.
While I agree that would be nice, I don't see it happening. What I could imagine happening is Ubisoft selling additional incubator slots for cash. Maybe $4.99 for 3 additional slots or something like that (not sure that's a good deal, but maybe). If they did that, it would allow for additional play time without breaking their IAP strategy (still having to wait on timers, etc.) While I do like premium games, I also like that they will have a steady revenue stream which will likely result in additional content. The game is obviously built to handle expansions (new lands, new incrediballs, new characters and costumes), and maybe down the road one of those expansions could include some hard levels that are always available or something.
Agree but greed is what controls these developers,if they really wanted to give us something that we might enjoy, they would not make this game f2p. Why make a crap f2p assassin's creed game when they can port the first part easily to iOS?Answer is simple - greed.
Well said. In addition, it kills me that they are advertising this everywhere. Make a premium version!
They aren't gonna do it guys. Just look at Trials frontier. people (including me) have been begging Ubi to give us a premium version. They only offered unlimited fuel in their single latest update, where progression is based on the loot wheel, and not on fuel anymore.
