I'll agree to that story but its a 1980 Econoline van with a beautiful mountainscape (complete with howling wolves) airbrushed on the side, and there are no dvd players or navigation systems. Just some 70's classic rock, and it smells like mildew because there's a leak in the roof. Oh and the van is carpeted with nasty shag on the inside.
Yes. It's really going this time. I apologize for the delays... most of it was for massive improvements, some was for dumb mistakes I made, but it's done. Finally. Ad hoc builds have been sent to the press, and the 1.0 distribution to Chillingo. Hopefully Apple won't reject it for some incomprehensible reason. I'm a total quivering wreck now, with bloodshot eyes, atrophied muscles, and a fear of sunlight, but standing back from it a bit, I'm really happy with Ravensword. It's the most complicated piece of software I have ever written, and it's well beyond anything I would have imagined myself capable of a year ago. I hope it's got everything you guys wanted. If it doesn't, post here and we'll try to work it into the next one. If you meet somebody that has pirated Ravensword, please deliver 3 to 5 swift cockpunches on my behalf, for stealing from somebody that is way behind on his bills. Thanks. I'm going to try to go outside for a little while now, after applying sunblock, so the blazing orb in the sky doesn't melt the flesh from my very bones. Thanks again to all of you for your encouragement, ideas, and criticisms. You were and will continue to be a very important part of our development process. Now... into the light....
Cockpunches will be delivered with a vengeance to any Ravensword pirate I might encounter. Heck, that might even be a new move you can add to your next game, assuming the villains and beasts do indeed have sensitive genitalia. I'll be buying this on Day One!
If you're really stuck, you could paypal me and I'll get a gift card for you. Hit me up via PM. Edit: Looks like you can do this already, without the middleman: http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2004/dec/10paypal.html
Hi Josh and Russ, I am more than happy to see that Ravensword will be available soon. As an addicted App purchaser (I must have racked over $1K of apps as of now), I would like to initiate something to prevent (or help anyhow) in counteracting the financial effects of piracy... Because you guys have created an independent mind-blowing game, would it be possible to donate more than the games' cost in the app store to you guys directly? Just as an example, I've been paying about $150/yr for WoW and I barely play anymore because I am on the road often... I would be more than happy to give you guys $25 (and also pay the cost of the game in the App store) to express support on independent gaming and hopefully help you guys out with the toll of sleep deprivation (LOL). I am certain that there would be other people willing to do the same. After all, future support will depend on the games' success (I have no doubt on it's success...), but this is just an idea. Just open up a Paypal address for volunteer Ravensword payment and I'll be glad to start the party...! Also thanks a lot guys, I've been following the threads for the last few weeks and you've been great (and funny) with the community and this is the right attitude to have (and keep) in this industry. Talk soon, Phil aka LePrimate
That is a very kind offer. After things settle down I'll definitely look into that. It requires some careful research, to avoid causing offense to the Mighty Apple and shutting down the whole party. I have always been in favor of community sponsored game development, but nobody I've worked with has been too into the idea. This all assumes we don't make so much money off Ravensword that we just don't need any more. One can dream, or hallucinate, as the case may be....
A good answer to that would just be a Donate button on your site, where people could donate additional money if they like the game, or just appreciate you developing it. (Just don't say anything about the game, it's just a donation button) That way, it's not like extra payment for the game without Apple's share, it's just a donation to the company for nothing in exchange. Everyone just buys the game at its real cost, and the extra wouldn't be related in any way. (Officially. ) Would that work?
I really appreciate the fact that some people want to donate money to us - but don't you guys want to try the game first before you give us money? I mean buying it on the App store. I think thats generous enough - really. Russ and I don't want to be greedy - we just want people to like the game. Donations aren't necessary in my opinion - supporting us is buying the game when it comes out - and if you like it - thats great - give us a good review - thats what we'd hope for. If you don't like it - tell us why, so we can make the expansion pack better! We do appreciate the comments like that though - to me it means that we are doing the right thing about being very upfront how this game is developed. Thanks TA'ers!
Just to give people a sense of the scope of the game, I played through the main story three times during the beta test and I never saw the monster in the first and third screenshots.
Can't wait for this one...congrats on finishing Josh & Russ I envy you guys, I'm still trying to wrap up the little details, it seems like it never ends!
I think everyone is just happy to see a nice, free-roaming (ish? im not familiar with it) 3d game, even as cool as DUngeon Hunter is its very linear... and games like The Quest just dont pack that visual oomph of 3d
