In 9 months......................... Im so nice but i cant wait for this coming from a giant oblivion fan
Announcement... Ok guys I hate to say this but I have to now. The game is getting a big controls overhaul. The publisher and some other very important people (VIPs) have brought this up. We were so used to the controls and satisfied with them (and even the beta testers didn't seem to mind them) but when we put it in front of the big wigs, they seemed to think that it needed change, and should be consistent with the other top games out there. It will be getting auto-targeting as well. This may set the submission back a week. Its lucky on the website it says "Coming this Fall" If we are lucky - Apple's approval times have been faster lately so it may still actually come out at the same time. On a happy note - I don't think it will delay it too much, because Russ is the KING of programming (IMHO) there are other optimizations that are being done as well. So sit tight, and there will be some vids to watch to make you drool some more.
What were the controls before and after, hopefully neither scheme involved tilting to move and shaking to swing your sword...
Ew auto aim, make it an option. Big wigs are always gays. Oh, and this game better be out by the end of the month. You should not change the game if you think it's great already, the pubs just want to say they had a hand in creating the game because they are opportunistic bastards.
When the game is out I'm pretty sure you'll have autotargeting on. You'll know why... (It's not a problem with the controlls!! )
i dont want auto aim and what you said joshcm the game will be delayed few days ?? not 15-18 octomber...
i think we'll be happy with control changes, if the bigwigs are forcing a change, then they must feel it's necessary, or they wouldn't affect a deadline which prevents them getting revenue. i'm happy to wait an extra week or so to have things expertly polished.
the 15th is Thursday - theres a possibility we could still make it, but just to be safe I'm telling you guys now so you don't get more mad at us later! Auto Target will probably be an option - but it will be set default on. Alot of sneaky Goblins and Imps like to sneak up behind you and stab you without giving you a chance to see them first.
Josh asked us beta testers to stay mum about the game, so I won't give away anything specific. But I'm sure he won't mind if I say this: 1) the game is finished (meaning that we were able to play it from beginning to end); what Josh is talking about here are tweaks. 2) Josh is not kidding when he says that Russ is the king of programming. When you finally get to see Ravensword, you won't believe that it was coded by one person (and developed by a two-man team). If the changes can humanly be made before their self-imposed deadline, they will be. 3) Those Imps and Goblins are indeed very sneaky.
New video looks outstanding! I don't remember the animations from the last video very well, but at face value these do look much more natural. The lighting is the other thing that really impresses me - especially at those frame rates! While I'm sad the game might be delayed a bit, I'm glad to hear that you guys are taking the time to make the game as good as possible. Really amazing that only two people have worked on this. I'm also wondering - and you may not be able to answer - if you guys got a signing bonus for publishing with Chillingo?
