Gameloft might only publish games that they make, don't they have a huge company of developers? Anyways, Chillingo would be awesome. They publish games by independent devs, and are pretty successful in the charts.
ngmoco is the company to go with. It's not their fault that a bunch of people are unwilling to lay down US$10 for an awesome game like Rolando 2. All their newer titles have been quality. I have not bought a Chillingo game that I've liked. Yes, Gameloft is good, but if you go with them you might get drowned out by all their other titles in a swarm of media and price drops. Ravensword deserves to shine. Edit: My point here is that they make great games but haven't had great sales because their flagship titles are at a premier price.
Whoever said Ravensword was going to be sold for $10? Second, if there's any publisher that has seen success selling games that cost $3-$10 it's Chillingo, Gameloft or EA. At any given time you look at the Appstore these publishers combine to put up 8-20 games in the top 100. So how on earth can you say the game will be drowned out? How can you use that as an argument and THEN recommend NGMOCO, still struggling with their flagship title? Nobody cares what you personally like, it's about who can help these guys get noticed and make some money. Jeez...
Guys - we appreciate all of the helpful advice in picking publishers. Actually we're quite amazed with all of the press on the game we've gotten by ourselves so far! Do a search for Ravensword The Fallen King on google and see how many results come up now! This community is great - I wish we had a year left of development (Russ will kill me now for saying that) but we have to get this game out soon. After it comes out - lets talk about what we're putting in the expansion pack!
Gameloft hardly updates their games, and chillingo releases the same garbage in a different visual package ALL the time.
The updates do not depend on the publisher but on the developer. And chillingo is just a publisher not a developer, so they dont really have a choice on what gets developed. Gameloft is a developer company that only publishes their games. They dont update their games because the devlopers move on to other games quicky. They might get back to some of the games but most likely will not. I do believe that chillingo is a good publisher, and they dont release the same garbage, i dont see how the quest, inkvaders, and return to mysterious island of other games i have on my itouch are the "same garbage" the quest and inkvaders are not even similar(aside from survival). Seriously Chillingo releases games that are the same with different packages ALL the time?? lol you have no ideal what you are talking about. they also have published games ive had since ive purchased my ipod, like iDracula Defender Chronicles Quest Minigore zen bound orions knights onrush I dont see how any of those games are "garbage" I say Meridian might be a good choice for publisher, not sure if they accept indie devs though
Interesting, because I went to their website and saw a link on the right that said they were...on top of that when you click it, it leads here: http://en.gameloft.ca/promo/iphone-dev/ I think they just publish them on their side company Ludigames though
xD thanks for clearing that up, they slap thier logo on every game so srry I knew they were a publsisher, just thought for their own games, unlike you know... chillingo xD
So this RPG is going to be similar to The Quest? Tons of textbook-like reading, choices, and very little action? Shame the graphics and interface looks excellent.
Nope. I deliberately designed the dialog boxes not to scroll, so it would force me to keep the conversations brief. The focus is action and exploration. We have a detailed world that it stands on it's own without a bunch of exposition.
Ok good, I suspected it would be like The Quest since you mentioned it was similar to Oblivion and Zelda.
are you going to submit this soon otherwise it will be out in october and not september.mind you i'm not too bothered as long and it doesn't take TOO long and the game is good.
