Josh, is this going to be an "open world" RPG like the Elder Scrolls games, where you can freely roam a large environment? Or is it more linear like Fable, where there are different discreet locations tied together by entrance and exit points - some which only open up when you reach a certain point in the main quest? I'm guessing the latter, given the limitations of the iPhone. That said, are there a lot of locations/towns to explore? Everything looks great so far, btw.
Because of Iphone - you are right. Most of the areas are accessable so it plays like one giant world. Only a few discreet areas are locked. There is a loading screen in between each of the areas, but you are free to go wherever you please.
Yeah I'm looking forward to this RPG more than others just because it is set up differently then all the other isometric diabloish ones. Hope it does well
We're hoping to submit to Appstore in September. Unless a publisher comes along and wants some changes in it. Pricing will be $6.99 or under.
And with that, Modern Combat:Sandstorm just went on my wait list until this comes out.... I love me some Oblivion and the chance that this could be similar makes me very happy. Can't wait to see the vids.
How's the animation and such? Is there some sort of hub to travel to the different worlds or do you warp around?
If this game is getting submitted at around mid september, and with the way (and length of time) the guys at Apple review apps, think it'll be out by october 1st or 2nd week?
Still so much to do... Our goal is the 15th for submission but are in talks with publishers now. If we do go through with a publisher deal, they WILL want changes to the game, which would cause at least a month delay. The good news is, its going to be a better game if that happens. If we release it in September, we'll start working on the expansion pack which we already have some ideas for. Just so that we can start paying our bills and not have to worry about that part of the equation. We are really excited about how far the game has come since we started. One of the new things that was just added was that you can now take on multiple quests, where as before you had to drop a quest to start a new one. He's also going to be working on the leveling system in the next two weeks. I'm trying not to bother him so much.
From speaking to a certain publisher already, the changes that they want in the game are really good. They are changes that we would put in if we had the time and money. At this point, its all up in the air so I can't say yes or no - we haven't made any decisions yet in that regard. We want to put out a great game - thats the bottom line.
