Yeah we tried as much as we could to get it to work, but at best we're still 100mb over the limit for iPod Touch 4 (it gets unstable around 115mb)
Josh said a few pages back that they're optimizing for the iPod 4G, so I'd keep my hopes up. Edit: Ninja'd, so nevermind.
Yeesh. Well I was expecting the iPod 4 to get fazed out this year, anyway. Is the ETA still around Christmas or are we looking at a end year's release?
I don't have an iPod Touch so I'm not affected and I'm not sure what's involved in getting something this ambitious to work on it. But I suppose one way to gauge iPod Touch 4g interest after this launches is to have a Kickstarter campaign ($10-$15 a pop minimum to contribute?) to make a "non-HD version" or something that has way lower textures or a fog effect so that less stuff is held in RAM at a time or whatever. If the project gets funded then those that contributed automatically get a code to D/L the game from iTunes upon completion since they already paid for it... And if the project doesn't get funded then you know the mass interest wasn't there and no further time is wasted on developing it to work on the old technology... Just an idea...
I like this idea!! I hope there is SOME way that even if it is not quite as cool you can make it work!!!
Correct me if I'm wrong but if they put in lots of fog and it does work on the fourth gen wouldn't that mean the iPhone 4 players have to look at lowered graphics as well seeing as they share the same processor?
I didn't even think of the iPhone 4 (which I have) since I was planning on playing this on my iPad 3. But since we are on the subject... Does anyone recall if this uses cloud saves? So I could, like, play for the most part on my iPad but pick up on my iPhone? (I am frequently stuck in waiting rooms...)
The current build actually works surprisingly well on my iPhone 4, but I'd go ahead and say it's time to put the final nail in the 4th Gen iTouch coffin. As it stands right now, though, I definitely prefer playing on my iPad 4 solely for the faster load times and framerates. This game truly IS a graphic beast, and newer tech will obviously make or a more enjoyable experience. Think of it like Epic Citadel, but with quests, NPCs and plenty of things to kill.
I asked Josh the same thing, and he said that they will try to add some anti-aliasing and bloom. However, at this time, nothing is currently confirmed. I'm keeping my fingers crossed though!
No problem! I really think this game is going to finally change the old adage of "those graphics are really good...for a mobile game." Shadowlands is truly revolutionary, and I'm sure everyone is going to absolutely LOVE it as much as I do.
I already love it and I haven't even played it yet I loved Aralon and there really aren't any good first person open world RPGS at all on the AppStore. And Gameloft only releases shooters and freemiums. I don't care about the graphics to much, though man I'm really loving those realtime shadows . One thing would be nice would be ragdoll death animations instead of the scripted ones...really adds to immersion. Can you tell us if that's in plans or not?
Sounds good, I'm hoping it'll still handle everything as well as Nova, considering the open areas and such.
