congradulations on your secret project. when I was first looking at aralon: sword and shadow my first thoughts were, this could be sweet but I don't think I'll get it becuase the graphics look so terrible. Now that you guys are working graphics I'm really looking forward to it!
How is work on Aralon affecting work on this project? I love the sound of Aralon, but Ravensword is still my favorite rpg so far (that's been released), so I'd love to see the sequel..
Well Russ and I are pretty deep in Ultra Kid right now, but are planning on using that code base for Ravensword 2. Aralon will have all of the features of a serious western RPG - I'm almost thinking Ravensword 2 could be more Zelda like - but maybe add a little more RPG than the last one (and make it bigger)
So you only play games because of graphics? wow the kids (not going to call them gamers) of this gaming generation are so spoiled
I think a 3d Zelda type game with puzzle-based dungeons would go over extremely well right now. I have been playing Ravensword for the last little while and I keep getting hints of Kings Quest Mask of Eternity - just with no puzzle based elements. I am really enjoying it - I think puzzle based quests/dungeons would add lots of vibrancy to the already solid gameplay foundation.
It doesn't have to always be about graphics but they have to be decent otherwise the gameplay just isn't going to be that fun, although there are some exceptions.
That would probably be a lot like Fable, which is a good thing. I can see the point of not having 2 serious western RPGs from the same developers. Heck, you may just want to skip Ravensword 2 all togather and do Ravensword Online
Having a Zelda like game would be amazing. I think that combat would improve a lot from ravensword one if it was more like zelda's. Ravensword one had a lock on similar to Zelda but I hope that combat will be better in ravensword two. You could have awesome boss fights too. Anyways, all of your upcoming games look amazing and I hope that you guys can bring some real quality games to the app store.
Ravensword Online sounds better in my opinion. I'll throw in a vote for that. Aralon should be the iPhone's major RPG of 2010, then in 2011 we could have a Ravensword MMORPG. It could make you a lot of money if pricing is right.
I am more for the idea of a Zelda style game - I would love to see puzzle based dungeons and boss battles. Across Age does a fine job of getting the Link to the Past Zelda style down - but as of yet no 3d Zelda knock offs. This is much needed.
When do you think this game will be out. And when do you think Aralon will be out because im looking for a great rpg for my iphone.
We're not going to continue RS2 until Aralon is done. Luckily, the story for Aralon is similar to what we originally had in mind for RS2 - and the feature set. I'm rethinking possible ideas for RS2 - maybe to do it as more of a Zelda style game (not necessarily the same art style)
Perhaps in this game you can add a castle in the clouds and make it super fantasy like, and less gothic
