Universal Ravensword: Shadowlands - (by Crescent Moon Games)

  1. Yes, no spoilers, I don't want any one to tell me how to play this game I did quite well with the elder scrolls arena, and daggerfall, which had much better puzzles than this, they were just devious... Also beat adventures redguard, and legends battlespire, and morrowind and oblivion and skyrim, I want to have a simmular experience with this game...

    We aren't Bethesda... hehe :)
Please don't expect Bethesda from us. For even Morrowind, I'm sure the budget was in the millions and the team was probably dozens, at least. Also those games are usually 3 years in production with that large of a staff.

Ravensword was mainly 4 people at any given time, an environment artist, 1 coder and designer, me (producer/artist jack of many trades), animator, character artist. The budget is was probably 1/20th of an early Elder Scrolls game.

That said, I think we've accomplished an amazing feat for this platform, certainly there is nothing else like the game except for Aralon on iOS.
We can do better, certainly. We're learning as we go, and we appreciate all of your feedback! Happy New Year. :)

I'm glad you view this as an accomplishment despite those who've been complaining. The game isn't perfect, but I'm sure you know that. However, you're pushing the limit of what's possible on iOS devices and setting new standards for open world RPGs on this platform, and you did so with a team of four people.

It's a great game. I enjoyed my time with it very much and can't wait for more.

I've liked the game, enough to have 3 characters, it has his flaws but that's what updates are there for. Can't wait for the updates, going to delete 2 characters just for the updates, I don't regret buying this game at all.

I'm having serious issues with the game crashing. I've played about 90 minutes and I can't leave the Troll Caves from either exit. A black screen appears and the game never progresses - only the music plays until the game eventually crashes and sends me to the home screen.

I've tried on both iPad 3 and iPhone 4S, uninstall and reinstall, etc.

    Any way to fix this?

I completed this game today and like Istara, I have a few issues with it, however overall it is a brilliant game.

    - I think there should be more quests, hopefully there will be some more in an update, but as it stands, apart from the main quest the side quests are short and not very exciting, would it be possible to make some longer, more thought out side quests?

    - I think you should move faster on horses and when flying, it doesn't feel like much of an advantage over running.

    - Can you make it possible to fast travel to south and north aven? It really annoyed me when I needed to go there for a quest and I had to take an annoying route.

    - My main issue is the story length, it was too short. For Aralon 2 or ravensword 3 I think that an easy solution to this would be to make use of the reputation feature. Currently, it doesn't really mean much, but if you included it in the story it would make it longer. For example, there could be a character in the story who will not discuss things with you unless you are worthy, to which the game then asks you to achieve a reputation of 600, or something like that, which would guide the player off the main quest to find and do side quests to gain the reputation needed to progress in the main story. You could do this a few times in the main story, and it would allow the player to have more freedom, to go and do what they want to gain the reputation, this would also make more use of side quests, rather than people just leaving them to the end when there is nothing else to do. This would make the story seem longer when really it isn't. I think a similar thing to this was done in Fable 2 or 3, and it makes the story less in a straight line.

Other than this, brilliant game, definitely gets 9/10 from me and possibly best ios game of 2012 :D

Just wondering are the controls better on this one than the original? I like the original, but the controls are a bit of a drawback to me.

The controls are a bit awkward on the iPad, but the upcomig update will allow for custom controls.

  11. You all did simply amaizing, deff my game of the year, I was just trying to explaine that I didn't want any help from people because I see that as cheating and I don't feel accomplished if I beat a game using hints(sorry if I seamed to say ur puzzles r weak, there not, it's just that arena was made in a different time, for a different culture of players) I loved this game with all it's flaws, and like I said about fifty pages ago, I'm glad it has flaws because that means I can be a part if fixing one of the most epic games on the platform...

This is as good as it gets. I absolutely love it.

    Two things:

    1. Better controls for the ipad. I use my left thumb to run but I can't use my right thumb to navigate because of fighting buttons BUT the fighting buttons are in the right place so I don't know what to suggest here.

    2. Is there an arrow pointing you to your next mission? This is essential if you want to find your goal.

I love the fast travel and the fighting is very well done as are the sounds and music. I've only just begun but I love it and the graphics especially the water is awesome!!

I hope you keep making these games and add levels and missions because this is my game of the year.

I think its good without an arrow, its up to you to find the location, Aralon and other RPG's are too easy as you easily go from point a to b and always have an arrow showing you were to go.

Quite like it in Ravensword 2 its up to you to find the place to go to yourself

If they do add an arrow to help find quests, maybe an On/Off setting in the Options menu like Swordigo did?

To me that is offensive because to me this IS Bethseda on ipad. I couldn't get into the 1st one mainly because if the camera all over the place but really wanted and still want to play it BUT this one ... Well.. It's past midnight and I deliberately stopped playing to post here that when you say you're no Bethseda I must reply YOU'VE GIT TO BE KIDDING,! This is amazing. Can I get the first one to play like this. The camera is the problem with the 1st game for me.
