Is there a way for you to check the status of the corpse with code, and once there is no more movement we could loot it? (Instead of there being a universal timer)

Josh, tried asking on Twitter but got no answer :p Is it possible to respec skill points and such?

And any info of when the update might become available? Got the game but want to wait until the update is there to hit it :)

You already deleted the app but in case you reinstall it...

The quest says something to the effect of "Fill the vile in the pool beyond the troll caves". The troll caves are actually labeled on both the mini map and the main big map. But the label for the cave won't appear until you come near it for the first time. That's part of the beauty about this game... the discovery. Anyway, the troll caves are located halfway between Lamil's Cabin and the Goblin Ruins. If you are running from Lamil's Cabin it will be along the wall on your left. Once in the troll cave just fight your way through it, you can't get lost, there's only one fork in there which leads to a dead end. The other fork leads to the pool where you fill the vial.

It sounds like you were only using the main map. The mini map shows your direction and location on the map (tap the compass to show the mini map).

Hi Josh - thanks for the very quick response. Ok, at this point I am interested, not being negative or picking holes in your response, and I'd like to know what you're allowing time for before making the corpse lootable. I've played a lot of RPGs and other games where corpses can be looted and I can't recall one where there was a delay before looting was possible.

Where you say it could get stuck floating in mid-air, this suggests that the lootable corpse is not the same object as the living body and does not respond to physics and gravity the same way as a living body object. In that case, it's probably going to be a lot of work to improve this situation without introducing other unwanted features!

Not sure how intense the calculation would be on the CPU, but it could be worth trying.

  7. Hoestly, the things people complained about... Josh I'm sure I'm not alone in saying I would prefer more content over faster looting, it three f@@kn seconds, u can't spare three seconds? Whatever, do what u guys think best, I'm off to play oblivion before work... And thank you josh and co. For this great game...

I'm pretty sure most players, ok maybe not all, would end up with a fair amount of skill points from using BLADE category weapons but, if you don't, you may run into a hefty difficulty spike at two points in the main quest. Some of this has been mentioned previously in this thread but I don't want to introduce any spoilers.

Ok, spoilers to follow, don't say you weren't warned if you highlight it:

    First,
the knife fight with the elf boss - you have to use a knife (BLADE) as all your other gear is temporarily removed
    .

    Second,
the Ravensword (BLADE) is the only weapon - as far as I know - that can damage the final boss
    .

Fair enough, glad you're happy with the game, but it isn't just one occurrence of three seconds, it's a wait every time you loot a corpse. It doesn't add any fun to the game and it could be fixed. My personal opinion, I'd prefer to see issues like this - that annoy players and end up in negative App Store reviews - fixed before more content is added to the game.

Could you condition the check on angle of surface corpse is laying on, then using range determine if it's "Flat" or "Hill" if it's hill continue with the code you are using if it's flat then speed up the loot function?

Low res wouldn't fix it - it's everything combined which is way over the 115mb limit for 256 mb devices like iPod 4. We're at about 225 in the city at the lowest res.

4th gen touch has 256mb memory, iphone 4 has 512. At least, that's what I've read elsewhere.

With low res textures we are at 225mb. The limit for 256mb devices is around 115mb, that's about where they become unstable.

Users of software I've worked on have often made similar complaints, out of a slightly naïve perspective on software development: assuming that things are exclusive or that all work is equally suited to all developers. It's sort of like asking your plumber why she's insulating pipes when there's wiring to be done.

In this case, I strongly suspect that new content is gated on art rather than code; you almost certainly don't want programmers making that art!

The developers have made a great game. We should give them feedback and opinions, like you do productively here, not direction -- it's honestly sort of arrogant to assume that we know better than they do how to use their resources to make their game better. I've worked on some of the most widely-used software in the world, and I don't feel like I have enough context to really give strong advice, let alone instruction.

I do have some thoughts on the equipment/inventory interface, though. :)

I for one enjoyed the heck out of this game. My only suggestion would be to add more quests/content. I finished too soon, and it left me wanting more :)

Well, I finally finished. All in all a hugely enjoyable game, but like the previous Ravensword, not quite as epic/long or detailed as I felt it could have been.

My observations, from playing on an iPhone 5:

    1. The single most infuriating thing was the difficulty in getting the "Loot hand" icon from corpses. This was the only issue in the game that I find inexplicable (and not very forgivable!) It's hard to think that beta testers were ok with it.

    2. Flying was AMAZING! It was quite fast and took a bit of getting used to, but it was generally beautifully implemented, save for the tilt, my next point.

    3. Tilt. Not sure if this is unique to the iPhone 5 experience but it felt really slow and really sluggish. I was having to wipe-wipe-wipe in endless rapid little motions to get the camera to move up or down.

    4. LOVED the different faces. Less keen on the hairstyles, they seemed to be from an earlier graphics generation if that makes sense. But left "bald", the male hero was really Mass Effect-like. I would also love a female heroine. Which brings me on to...

    5. More people. I understand that more content is coming, so this may be resolved. But more people, more quests please. With a lovely gameworld like this, let's linger in it for longer. Let's do more with flying. And a person to speak to to trigger the the archery tournament, for example. It didn't seem like much of a tournament with no one watching!

    6. MORE ITEMS. Ravensword II was much better than the original Ravensword for this, but is it really hard to code in a wider range of weapons? I don't even mind if the icons are identical but just recoloured for different metals. I just want more variety. And some super expensive mega weapons for those of us who like grinding a little. Randomised loot please. The chance to buy or get monsters to drop more enhancement gems.

    7. Map overhaul. I LOVED the World Map, with its fast travel, but a couple more locations could have been made clickable, for example the guy's house in The Terraces so you don't always start at the top. Then some locations (like the shipwreck) seemed to be stuck on the edge of the map.

    8. A few more clues. I would have never guessed the waterfall/scroll thing, without someone posting a hint/spoiler on here. Also a lot of people, like me, appear to have struggled to find the next section after the terraces. It looks like it should be south of the Shipwreck area but it's not, it's behind the guy's hut.

All in all a wonderful game, I just want to stay in the gameworld longer and do more and get more from it. I really hope there's an expansion, I'll happily pay, or Ravensword III soon.
