Hello, in what ways is this game an improvement over Aralon? I already found that one to be an awesome achievement on mobile platform. How much is this one bigger and similar to Skyrim?

Thinking of buying it as soon as it gets on the store here ;)

    Regards

Oh wow...from Sanuku's vid the iPad 2 doesn't get realtime shadows and really chugs. Glad I upgraded.

shouldn't be any chugging - should be anywhere from 30-40 fps on there.

Maybe it's just the recorder or he enabled higher graphics settings than recommended (are there graphics settings?), but it does looks like a rather slow framerate when he's attacking during that first battle.

lol, thats not the frame rate. its bullet time during the tutorials! also there is bullet time that occurs during regular combat at various times (just because it looks cool :)

So I have played Aralon to death but never played the first Ravensword. Any real benefit to playing that before jumping into this?

I am more than just pleasantly surprised (more along the lines of more excited than I have ever been for almost any iOS game), and will eat my words with something that hurts (nails, or perhaps grey goo). Thanks, dev and mod!

This probably just dogpiles on my ignorance and unattentiveness, but I've watched every single Shadowlands video, looking for signs of skill- and twitch-based combat, and have never seen anything to indicate the presence of either manual blocking or evasion. But I wouldn't be surprised if my at first excited and then generally impatient jumping back and forth in the videos has cost me those very indications ;)

Regardless, I think such combat mechanics are uncommon enough in iOS RPGs (and, sadly, in action-based RPGs in general) that they might warrant a mention in the feature list, JoshCM. "Reflex- and precision-based combat with manual blocking and dodging" would have caught my eye (and then grabbed me by the hair and banged my head against the screen) almost as surely as the amazing environs in the trailer.

But I realize that this might not really be something of note for most RPG players.

This is the best reason for the inclusion of any feature, ever.

Dude that`s Bullet Time, similar to the one you might know from Max Payne.

Yes, yes I know now. Rewatched the vid and it's running fine. And it even looks great on an iPad 2. Can't wait to see it with retina and full effects :D

Can you become encumbered? I saw that each item had a weight.

What sources of food are there besides vendors? Berries? Animals? Do you have to cook the animal meat?

I'm curious why the iPad 2/iPad Mini don't get realtime shadows? The lack of high resolution textures I can understand since it's probably RAM related (512MB vs 1GB). In theory, at native resolution, the iPad 2/iPad Mini has the same graphical power available as the iPad 4, 4x difference in GPU performance offset by 4x difference in resolution. Is that not true or are there other factors preventing realtime shadows like RAM and/or CPU coming into play?

No jumping / climbing, sadly. That's how it looks, anyway.

I love leaping up to a high vantage and sniping w/ a bow.

You can jump, in fact one of your skills can increase your jumping height.

I too am a sniper and I found the range weapons in this game very satisfying. Once I got my first bow I spent quite a bit of time just hunting deer in the forest. Bonus, not only does this give you meat, it also increases your bow skill which gives you hit/damage bonuses.

Will iPhone 4s have all effects? If not, what's been cut out?

Right on. I would very much like a response to this as well.
