They're working on both: an update and an expansion. The update will come first -- they just want to have a clear idea what players want for the forthcoming expansion. I think it's a good idea to reach out to players. Don't you?
Actually, I haven't played Oblivion all that much (as compared to morrowind, it was kind of a let down to me). But heck i don't see anything wrong with striving for perfection, even though this has already been achieved by other games. It's very hard for rpg's to differentiate from other rpg's anyway...
Personally I prefer single player. For me I play the games to get away from the "real" world. I prefer people who are computer genretated. The real ones are scary sometimes! Mark
Single Player definately. I would like to see multiplayer at some point, but with a game like ravensword, single player content adds so much more to the experience. I'd like to see more customization, different races, guilds, vampirism and lycanthropy, and a larger game world. If there was an option I would vote 3 expansions and then multiplayer. Local multiplayer with friends would be especially cool.
^^i would agree to vamps and werewolves on one condition. you take any and all twilight references, put them in a little bag, go stand outside and set the bag and yourself(for possessing the bag) on fire. then, and ONLY then will vamps and wolves be acceptable in this game. actually i don't want either of them at all, but if it has to happen, that is what i require.
i read the preview of the expansion on STP and everything's interesting and it should not be called an expansion anymore it's already a sequel to the first one the article said the expansion will occur 50 years after the first story
Really when I suggested the vampirism and lycanthropy stuff I was thinking of the classics like daggerfall and morrowind. I haven't even seen these recent vampire flicks, but I would definately agree that any such references should be left out of the game. Obviously, instituting these gameplay elements would be benefited by the more firm role playing ground that will be established post expansion. Given that its not as important as say, skills, I don't think it necessarily needs to be instituted this expansion. That said, options like vampirism and lycanthropy (not necessarily just werewolves) give the player more options and broaden the role playing experience.
Yes its more of a sequel than an expansion, but I suppose it is an expansion because it should be able to have the old world still there, but somewhat changed in the 50 years or so. It will be a rather drastic change though.
You should make a new storyline that starts when you talk to a dwarf in the dancing goblin tavern. He will tell you that he need a brave hero to kill the great dragon living in a cave in the mountain, because it have been burning down towns and stealing gold. Then you will have to reach this mountain, and go through tunnels dugged by the goblins, through a orc infested forest and more. Then, when you arrive to the town of Dravia, you will see that the path is blocked by huge boulders. Then you must Explore the town to find a man that knows a different way in, but he will only open it to you if you help him kill some monsters(you choose) then you must enter, but you find out that no arrow or the ravensword can kill the dragon. So you have to find the lost sword of the dragonslayer, only named "the DragonFang" wich is a sword that cant kill any creature but the dragon. Add something like this please,
so was I. oh wait. thats me. lol yes we are changing everything about the game - its going to be quite more than just an expansion.
I've seen some REALLY nice stuff for the upcoming expansion. This is why we should support small Devs. They listen and can incorporate ideas quickly. Mark
