I just realised we do not have dedicated cavalry brigades, right? Something like - say - 2x Rookguard, 2x Light Cav, 2-3x Cav.Archers. There currently are 6(?) Cavalry units, that should make a nice brigade or two.
You could always field Mallico's Madmen and Te Tero. =D x3 Windswept, x3 Ravenborne Light.. with some nice infantry to hold the line.
Yes, but that's a combination already. I was referring to a true cavalry-only brigade. We have infantry-only, and some that focus heavily on archers. Mallico's Madmen and Te Tero are half infantry, 3 of 6 units each. Anyways, added that combo to my "stuff to try" list. The closest there is at the moment is the Blacksteel Brigade, with the 3 Jabberwockies and the Tank. Would be interesting to see how a brigade with, say, 5 mounted units, and only one or two infantry plays. Not to mention an all-cavalry brigade. At least I would be really interested in it.
I think there would be balance issues with an all-cavalry brigade. Generally, mounted units have great movement, comparatively large hp pools, and what is essentially a double attack with charge. To me, that seems a bit overpowered.
There's also Nisshonen - while not exactly cavalry, they're almost all speed based. Plus two firesouls are scary enough to make a weak player surrender on a first turn. True story.
Let's try How does 2x Rookguard, 2x Cav-Archers, plus either 2x Windswept or 2x Marshrunners sound? Rookguard are the heavy unit. The Windswept are rather weak, and die fast. The Marshrunners even more so; say hello, glasscannon. Yup, the Firesouls are nasty, great shocktroops. Quote 5th Element: "Yes, big badda-boom!"
I can never seem to effectively use firesouls lol. They always get mowed down by charging cavalry/archer volleys before they're close enough to be really effective for me. Wow, you accumulated a lot of silver really quickly. Hmm I'd still say that it would probably be better than footsoldiers+cavalry, purely based on the fact that the huge maneuverability gives that brigade a huge edge. When most infantry and archers are in formations with limited movement, flanking and encircling become infinitely easier. Lol plus the multi-faction thing is kinda hard to fit in lore wise.
I actually had a game last night where I only had Helram and my Standard Bearer left, with my opponent still having about 5ish Elements left. After I took out his Standard Bearer, his troops couldn't catch Helram.. Mounted Archers are nasty. Nevermind Charge. And you want a Brigade with all cavalry? XP
Still yes, if only for flavour Working out the balance is another thing, though. Start at the lower end, see how that goes? I.e. 4x Windswept, no Cav.Archers ? That should be a good bit weaker than the Blacksteel Brigade, which makes a good comparison I think.
Puny crowseers no match for aconite maulers ( ._.) Cainlaw friends all teared to pieces by mean Helram.
Wait, so I just noticed something strange(or not) in the codex for Ravensbane, it is stated that "A trap set by the Queen of Quils claimed their charismatic leader,Signum Rokus Everius recently. They now follow his lover, Denaloo..." and in the codex for Denaloo, it is mentioned many times (in the form of "he"s) that his a guy. So does that mean either one of them is gay .-.
