Specifically Eastenders. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HdzO6reThDM&feature=player_embedded http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cPX8RbHND20&feature=player_embedded 10/10 I say.
Shut your whore mouth! There are some awesome and classic Britcoms and comedy shows. Blackadder, On the Buses, Keeping Up Appearances, Absolutely Fabulous, Are You Being Served?, The Two Ronnies, Porridge, Dave Allen at Large, Fawlty Towers, The Young Ones, Red Dwarf, The Thin Blue Line, Alexei Sayle's "Stuff," Bottom, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Mr. Bean, A Bit of Fry & Laurie ... I could go on.
The only things I've seen on that list were the newest (if there were any other) Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy movie, and Mr. Bean, and I loved them both. Hitchhiker's Guide was a great movie, and Mr. Bean could be the funniest show I've ever seen.
The Hitchhiker's movie was a bit crap. Good effects, and it had its moments, but they rushed through the story so quickly (and changed parts of it) that you barely had time to make sense of anything. They should have released the movie in 4 parts, one for each book, so they could at least spend some time focusing on the funnier parts of each. They didn't even use the best gags in the movie they did eventually make. Also, if you haven't seen the Blackadder series, or The Young Ones, or Red Dwarf, of Fawlty Towers, you just haven't lived.
Eastenders is crap IMO but there are some good comedy shows like Snuff Box, Darkplace, etc. Much better comedy than US tv in my opinion.
Then again, it was a long time ago when I saw that movie. I was much younger, and therefore it probably was a lot better to me than it actually was. Well, I enjoyed it, and that's what counts. And I've actually never seen any of the other ones you've listed, but I have heard that Fawlty Towers is a really funny show.
There's a big problem with that list (aside from the dreadful stereotypical programmes people overseas genuinely believe represents the British)... it's ancient. None of that stuff represents British TV as it stands now, everything has been replaced by crappy talent/holiday/property shows. Got Blackadder, Porridge, Fawlty Towers, The Young Ones, Red Dwarf, The Thin Blue Line and Bottom on DVD though. I tend to watch sitcoms a lot because I can't be bothered to get up and change the disc every 90 minutes.
