Just been playing this on my 8-bitty (Small handheld bluetooth joypad). Raiden plays so well on it, love it !

    UI error

Hello DotEmu, I am not sure if its because I use Chinese as my display language, but the menu UI looks very odd, with no other info except "error" I'm using 4S iOs 6

Damn! My wife's locked up my 8-bitty until Christmas. Can't wait to get it going on this and pleased to hear it works well on it.

Sorry guys, these games are so bad. It might be me or I played too much Cave titles, but this just feels clunky and irresponsive. Compare this to Phoenix, or any Cave title, or the ones from Sunny Tam, and you'll see what I mean.

    Deleted. :(

  5. This doesn't by chance work with the joypad app does it? That would be cool.

They've done ALMOST everything right with this - control options, autofire available, filtering on/off - but I'm really disappointed it can't manage full speed on my iPhone 4. It starts stuttering from the beginning of stage 1, and by the third stage it just zones right out for half a second at a time - by the time it catches up you've invariably died. It is, to all intents and purposes, unplayable past stage 2.

I'd hope an officially-licenced port could manage better performance than someone working with 10-year-old emulator code, but it runs no better than iMAME. (And switching filtering and fullscreen off made no noticeable difference.)

Goodness knows how horrible it is on a 3GS or 3rd-gen Touch, both of which it's stated as compatible with. But that's an awful lot of iThings out there this will run poorly on. For all Cave's greedy pricing, at least they warn you when your hardware might not have enough pep. A bit more optimising and this would leap straight into the iOS Must-Have Top 20, but as it stands I can't recommend it to anyone with less than a 4S.

(As for titles, personally I'd much rather have seen it just with Raiden 2 - or, in a perfect world, Raiden DX too - with the three Fighters games in a separate pack I could have just not bothered buying, but horses for courses.)

^^ That's strange. I'm playing on a 3GS and have tried all four games. All run silky smooth. Have you tried maybe rebooting?

These games aren't bad at all. Just because you don't like them doesn't make them bad. The majority of the people, and by majority I'm going to go with like 99% (including myself) are loving these games. They aren't perfect, but they're fun. And Phoenix...really? I'll give you most Cave games.. but come on.. Phoenix?

Rebooted only yesterday so discounted that as a possibility, but just installed it on my iPad 1 and it's quick as lightning, so will give it a try and report...

Nope, slowdown just as bad after reboot. Even Airplane Mode didn't help.

I'm also not getting iCade recognition with iPad 1.

[Doh, idiot - forgot I'd DFUed the iPad a couple of weeks ago and hadn't re-paired it with the iCade. Works fine, though I hate not being able to map the buttons and being forced to use the one nearest the stick for bomb.]

Also just installed it on my 3rd-gen iPod Touch (supposedly compatible, just rebooted) and it was like sucking treacle up a straw. So: brilliant purchase for iPad and newer iPhones/iPods, beware if you've got anything below 5th-gen.

Runs great on mine with iOS 5.1.1...

Also, DotEmu... Is there any way you could maybe fix the second or so of black screen that appears after pausing, and then resuming the game? While it's black, the game starts running, and has caused a couple of unnecessary deaths. Maybe even a quick countdown before the game starts running again?

Or is it just me experiencing this?

BTW, it happening on both of my devices ; iPad 2 and 4th gen touch-both running iOS 5.1.1

I can maybe understand the 3rd Gen iPod Touch having trouble, but not sure why your other devices are having issues. Maybe it's the iOS version you're running? I've got 5.1.1 on my 3GS.

I do have to say though that even though the 3GS has less RAM, I have heard of instances where games run better on it than some of the newer devices. Have no idea why. May just be different memory management or something? Of course, I can't play a lot of the games with the latest and greatest graphics.

But this is a game that I see no reason why older devices couldn't support it. And it is running fine for me.

Might need to shoot DotEmu a message to find out why you're having such poor performance.

I'm running 5.1.1 too. Can I just check - anyone who's getting good performance on 4th-gen hardware, are you running ACTUAL RAIDEN? I get full speed with no problems on the Fighters games, which isn't much consolation as I have no interest in playing them. It's only actual normal Raiden that has the speed issues on the iPhone.

The game seems to play pretty well on my iPhone 4, but I don't know how fast it should be. I haven't tried it on my iPad 2 yet. Going to do that tonight.

Yup... OG Raiden runs great on my 4th gen. No idea why you're having issues...

    Jail broken?
How much free space do you have?
^^if I have less than a GB of free space some games run pretty bad until I free up space, then they'll run just fine.

    I can't think of anything else... =o/

Looks like there are a few codes if you have an iCade, at least for Raiden Fighters.

To use the Judge Spear, move to Chaser, then hold down on the joystick, and press fire.

To add credits, press the upper right white button.

My beef is with the controls. The games are not responsive at all. I know it's apples and oranges, but at least in Phoenix my ship moves exactly the way my finger does. Here not much.

Haven't had a problem with the controls. Relative touch works fine. Playing this on my icade is also great

This game doesn't have 1:1 relative touch controls. The ship moves just a little bit slower than your finger. I'm fairly sure this is intentional though. Easy way to test this: start with ship on the left side of the screen, place your finger directly below it and slide all the way over to the right. The ship will not move faster than its maximum allowed speed (no matter how fast you move your finger) and furthermore will finish up about an inch to the side of your finger, not directly above it as at the start.
