Never got into the Cave shooters, but I spent hella hours playing Raiden in the arcade. Can't wait till it hits US store.
Was hoping for smaller given it's 40ish MB download size but for four classics, I'm going for it. Not that 159 mb is that big (every Cave game is much bigger). As an aside, what is it these days where games have gotten to be so much more compressed? Used to be you could expect a game to be no more than double it's download size. Now I've seen up to 10X the download size. Oh well, I know it's doable in compression. Just got used to the 2X rule.
After playing it for Hours I can easily say that it`s DotEmu best Work so far. Everything was so fluent and often even better then I could have expected it to be. Well done, DotEmu!

Oh, I know they are pretty hardcore...there are plenty of hard-as-nails "swarm-hell" SHUMPS. It's just, when it comes to pattern recognition, I'm better with enemies than projectiles. But now you've told me the scoring's complex as well. Oh well...probably get this anyway. If there's one thing I've learned from the Cave games that I hasn't known before, it's that hardcore SHMUP players analyze the games as much as fighting game fans. I'm guessing there's a tournament scene in Japan...I never thought of that before.
Well, the ports are very well done. There are a lot of option for the controls, and the game runs buttery smooth on my new ipad. Also, it runs in full screen, so that is super nice. It is great that there are 4 different games there, which make it well worth it's value. The main thing that is a negative is the sound is pretty poor with a lot of hiss and sometimes a high pitch sound which can be annoying. Sounds like the music and sounds are very much compressed to get under the 50 mb limit. Well, I would like to see this limit ignored and go for a version with better sound if possible. Even if the disk size was a little bit bigger. Overall the game plays really well, the only somewhat bug i found was when you are doing controls moving, the back icon bar covers the bottom button making it really hard to move. At first, I couldn't tap the button to move it. It is great to have moveable buttons, every game should have them especially when you are playing with an ipad where you may hold it in so many different ways. I like the game, going to highly recommend it. Gonna have some fun playing it and remembering the good old days when I used to play Raiden. Too bad it doesn't include raiden 2 which was the game I played the most, but raiden jet is totally awesome, and has tons of planes and options. Didn't check if there was any multiplayer, but raiden of the past especially jet was great with 2 players. Would be cool to play bluetooth between two devices. Doubt this is there, but the wishlist continues. Back to the game for a bit. Ever as frantic as the original games were. Both med and hard settings, so that is totally cool. Highly recommended!
Played a bit of each game. Fantastic port! Controls are spot on and it's an amazing bargain for the package. The original Raiden didn't hold up too well compared to other shumps, but the other three are awesome. Yeah, it's a port, but it could easily be my GoTW in next week's vote.
This game is not running properly On my iPod touch 4 with iOS 4.3? It's like half the screen is cut off and there's a whole lot of black area below. Like it's in widescreen mode or something? It looks nothing like it does in the screen shots & videos? Is anyone else having this problem?
Must be the os. I mean 4.3 is pretty old. How come you haven't updated? Bought this earlier. Love the retro graphics and sound. Great app featuring all those games
The hard setting sure is hard. I love how dotemu was kind to add a med and hard settings for us advanced players! I love the hard setting even though sometimes I seem to be dying every couple of seconds. This is how I remember Raiden, hard as hell. Great game, even love Raiden 1,even though it isn't getting much love. It brings back the most memories, and it is kind of simple which is cool too.
But I paid $5. I expect 5 games at a buck each...why are there only 4 games here? Next time I'll wait for a sale. </typical iOS gamer>
So far I'm LOVING this classic collection. Never played the original Raiden, only Raiden 2 so kinda disappointed it isn't included. While its cool to be able to play the original, I prefer the other three games. I really like the whole arcade feel, old school graphics, the sound effects though I suspect will annoy the hell out of me when playing for a longer period of time. This is one of the harder shmups out there, there is absolutely no shame in playing on the medium setting, I've played CAVE games that were kindergarten compared to this.
Too true, but it would be great to have Raiden 2 thrown in there in the next update. I know it's only a dream, but it would be oh so great.
