Seriously. It's just impossible to put down. Perhaps it's how the playing field keeps on changing inviting color after color every round, perhaps it's because you can either play in landscape or portrait, perhaps it's the fact that the game has the greatest trailer in the history of trailerkind, maybe it's because of how awesome the Whitaker Trebella track is, perhaps it's because the controls are as flawless as those in the Mikey series, perhaps it's because there's not a single IAP in sight, perhaps (yeah, I know...perhaps this perhaps crap is getting tedious) your score's just good enough to earn you a free try (by watching an ad) ONCE AND ONLY ONCE per round (no Pay to Win bullshit) or...PERHAPS IT'S JUST BECAUSE OF CARTER DOTSON'S EJKDFHKLWDWEHF SCORES THAT I CAN'T BEAT IN EITHER NORMAL OR HARD!!!!!!... ...but yeah, I have not touched a single twitch-based game ever since Radical graced my phone. It's THAT good. Now, I didn't want to bring this up so soon in the thread (I think Mike G's squinting his eyes at me right about now), but I would KILL to have a single $5 IAP to disable the pop-up ads once and for all. YES? YOU ALL WITH ME? The music (by Whitaker Trebella) compliments the game very well. The controls, colours, 2 games modes (Normal and Hard) are all pretty much perfect. Some high score purists may balk at the ''watch video for extra life'' thing but it doesn't really bother me at all. Oh and for those that don't know, Radical is developed by Mike and Mike of BeaverTap Games. Yes, the guys who made the excellent Mikey Trilogy. No, I didn't see this coming either. Those guys are awesome. This game is Radical. That game won't keep my interest for too long. But for a couple of minutes it's fun. Controls are precise, the music is good. SHREDD hooks me more, feels much more radical Still, good game. metalcasket Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Patreon Gold Patreon Bronze May 24, 2010 11,065 1,342 113 Deepest Circle, Hel #15 metalcasket, Feb 12, 2015 Are you playing normal or hard? Shaun C Well-Known Member Patreon Bronze Aug 28, 2014 70 0 0 #16 Shaun C, Feb 12, 2015 I must admit that at first glance I wasn't sure what to make of Beavertap going all minimalist, given how charming the Mikey games are, but after only a few plays I was hooked. It's a simple concept, sure, but very tightly designed, as the best games of this type usually are, and the result is a game that's rudely addictive. Hard mode in particular is perfect for those 'quick game while I boil the kettle' moments. 'Oops, ok quick couple of games. ... Ok, just one more. ... Oh. Kettle's gone cold.' Limiting the option to watch an ad to continue playing to once per game is obviously a smart choice to keep scorechasing satisfying. But I do agree with metalcasket that it would be awesome to have an iap to remove ads and have that single continue option offered at the end of each game without interruption. So if you like quick challenge games, this is definitely well worth checking out. I certainly enjoyed my brief moment of sitting on top of the normal mode leaderboard before Andy smashed my score into oblivion. Although clearly Carter wasn't going to let me perch there for long either. -_- mikeg123 Well-Known Member Sep 23, 2009 2,242 0 36 #17 mikeg123, Feb 12, 2015 I was going to ask the same thing. We fully expected Normal mode to be too easy for the TA crowd. You guys have faster reaction times than the casual crowd. We might have to add an even faster mode! @ShaunC: thanks for the kind words. Much as I don't like free to play, when he took in Mikey Boots none of his pals would download as it was two pounds so I'm hoping it takes off in the playground. I actually thought that I was done with these type of games but I am liking this, especially the music.
