Apple customer support escalated the case for me as well. The customer support guy knew about touch arcade and I had him read nathans article from a little while back, upon further research he said that apple is looking into it and he escalated the case and said that they are trying to fix it. But yea he was a fan of TA thought that was pretty cool.
I can't even log into Ire: Blood Memory anymore, and multiplayer games with Lost Cities are impossible. It doesn't deserve the name Game Center anymore. It's Apple's Shame Center.
Yeah, I may NEVER log into Gamer Center again, once I get rid of this bug.. This is completely uncalled for. It's broken SO many of my games.
Hmm... I fiddled around with Game Center for an hour now and it seems that I have fixed the bug / white screen crash or getting stuck in preferences. Took me a while but now it's working again.
Let us know when you're sure you found the holy grail; I do wish it can be true! (but the general expectation seems to be that after some time you will [edit] your post, adding a comment like "f* the problem is back ")
I am starting to believe that GC doesn't have just one big bug, but a big and several small issues at the same time. But my GC works again, I'll see how long it will last. What I did was switching to airplane ON and rebooting the phone, so I was able to access the GC app. Inside GC, I switched airplane OFF via control center, so wifi connected and the app loaded. I noticed that it took quite long to load the friend list and the game list. I had tons of people on that list, but lots of them random additions because of two games I played a lot in the past. First I cleaned the friend list and removed all people except a dozen, just to try. After that, I deleted all games from the game list that I am not playing anymore, leaving only 20-30 games in that list. At last, I disconnected Game Center from Facebook in the preferences and switched all automatic GC downloads off. I rebooted my iPhone and GC is working fine since. It helped in my case, but I doubt that this might apply to the whole bunch of other people having an issue with GC.
My GC had been working again for a month or so. Then I installed 9.3. Now it is broken again. Update: Did the airport mode mumbo jumbo and it's working again... for now.
Just updated to iOS 9.3 on my iPad Air 2, and got some epic trolling from Apple. For the first time in months, Game Center fired up immediately. I saw those bubbles bobbing about. And then I tapped Challenges. BOOM. White screen of death.
After updating to 9.3, I noticed GC was suddenly working again (after weeks without). I went to the GC app to remove old games like you, hoping it will help. However, I noticed only the games I have loaded since the 9.3 update appeared, while I had hundreds in the list before. Perhaps Apple has reset it?
Installing iOS 9.3 had no effect on my iPad Mini or iPhone 6plus Game Center is as dead as ever. However , GC did start working again on my iPad Air. This did happen unexpectedly once before on the iPad and GC quit again as unexpectedly as it started working, so I am willing to bet GC won't stay working this time either. Last time it came back for a few days. II can't think of what is different on the iPad than the other devices for GC to go in and out like this on only the iPad.
I noticed that not all my games are in Game Center now. But they go back a month or so, not just after installing 9.3. Not sure what's going on...see my post about what happened to me.
Apple was talking yesterday about the environment, screw the environment I want Gamecenter to work, Ha ha.
I can't believe how long this bug has gone on for. I miss Ridiculous Fishing I don't understand why devs code games to not even load without GC. Why not allow play without it? What's the advantage from a development perspective to tie them together like that?
It's probably just coincidence. Sometimes, updates reset things, before they go to crap again. I've performed a couple of full resets on the iPad, and it's now white-screening again. Next step will be to try the Nov 2013 voodoo and see if that helps. (This, fortunately, is my 'review' iPad, for work, and so the majority of games and apps on it have no long-term data.)
Well, that didn't take long. Only a couple of hours of working GC on my iPad. It went dead again. This is ridiculous!
I believe a lot do- I know when I develop games- it checks for GC, then logs in user if it's available. And if it's not then it continues on without which is pretty standard practice I assume. But I think this bug is more on the backend within Gamecenter- or in OS... I wonder what percentage of users this affects. I've never encountered it and I've had 3 iPhones since 4s - have had all the OS at some point. Have an iPad mini- all have worked fine with GC and have through all the OS iterations. And when I look at GC leaderboards on popular games still have millions of people. Seems odd , stinks that people can't get GC to work. It's a great and easy way to implement leaderboards or achievements which helps keep games longevity
Oh no! Ridiculous fishing is effected by the bug? No no no, apple whaaaaats going on. This is hot garbage.
You're right!! Hadn't tried to play it in a while, but Ridiculous Fishing is on the Broken by GC List! Gets stuck on the 2nd Loading Screen with a little pic of a guy sitting in a boat. Big bummer!!!
