I'm planning on upgrading from my iPhone 5(iOS 8.4.1) to a 6s just after Christmas. With this GC issue I'm reluctant to do so. I know that it doesn't affect everyone. Does any know what percentage of iOS 9 users are affected? Just want to know what my chances are.
Don't upgrade if you enjoy using GameCenter, it's not worth the risk. If I could turn back time I would of never upgraded.
I've been through hell and back regarding this situation. Long story short- I received a brand new Air 2 with AppleCare projection, manually redownloaded about 200 game apps, had IOS 9.1 and no problem. I was so pumped! 10 days later, GC stopped working but it somehow works on my Air 1 and iPhone 6+. All are 9.1. I was on the phone today once again with an engineer specialist. I will hear back from them Thursday. 9.2 doesn't fix the problem either. This is pure bullshit. Class action lawsuit anyone?
Apparently it affects popular games too, so this bug could be producing many thousands of disaffected users by now... I'll PM you with the name and phone number of someone at Apple who will likely be sympathetic. They would fix this costly bug if they could, but at least you probably won't feel ripped off.
I feel your pain guys... after updating to iOS 9 the first time I lost Game Center on my iPhone 6. Now with this most recent update hoping to get it back I have now only succeeded in losing GC on my iPad mini 2 as well. Apple really needs to get their stuff together and get this fixed!
Keep calling Apple, keep complaining, and hopefully we will all get a resolution. They are pulling shit they shouldn't be getting away with.
I was fine with iOS 8 but my biggest mistake was iOS 9 on my new iPhone. Destroyed everything I wanted out of it. If I knew this would happen I would skipped iOS 9 and a new iPhone altogether
I made a thread over at Reddit in hopes of getting more people aware of this issue. It's found here: https://www.reddit.com/r/apple/comments/3ws95y/game_center_does_not_work_anymore/
While likely just a cruel tease, my GC is working again. I've done nothing to remedy it recently, and all of my previous feeble attempts like doing a big settings reset was done over a week ago for only a few minutes relief before going to crap again. So while I'm not bold enough to call it solved, I am reporting, at the moment, it's in remission.
Game Center doesn't work at all after installing iOS 9.2 . Why, oh why didn't I leave my iPad Air to the default iOS 8.1 that it had when I purchased it ?
Restored my iPhone again, this time I will only install a few games at a time and only install games that have been updated recently. I have a feeling it's certain versions of GameCenter that each game use that is causing it to break. The newest games that use the new version of GameCenter work fine so I will steer clear of games that haven't been updated for a long period of time due to there GameCenter being an old build. My GameCenter is working for the moment but I only restored on Sunday and usually it starts to play up 2-3 days in. I will keep you posted.
Well, I've had no Game Center on my iPhone and iPad Mini for some time. The iPad Air was working though, but this evening Game Center quit on that too. It's very upsetting because Apple doesn't seem to care. Getting more and more like Microsoft. Actually, at times I've had better customer support from Microsoft for ,y PC. All devices have iOS 9.2.
Yes, it actually is getting worse . First it wasn't loading need for speed and dungeon hunter 5 , now it won't load anything that requires Internet connection and games center . When I open GC from the dashboard it is blank, when I try to open it from the settings, they get stuck .
mine started doing this the other day on 9.1 , updated to 9.2 and still same, i will have to restor my deVice i think to get it working again...but i have so much stuff i wikk need to reinstall im hesitant to do it, there are a number of games i cant actually play now either #
It's also made game syncing between devices not work. Who would have thought I would prefer FB for seamless game integration between devices... At least that works. It's a joke. A frigging joke
I didn't know about the syncing. Geez!!!! The thing that bothers me most though is not being to even open some of my favorite games. Can't even play without the social aspect. For example, a word game called Bonza National Geographic won't even load. And that's a game you don't even really need Game Center for. Bummer!!
To share the frustration, my Gamecenter works perfectly on the iPhone 6+ and iPad Air. Gamecenter does not work for me at all on the Air 2. All 3 devices are using iOS 9.2. Still getting the white screen of death no matter what I do. Expecting a call from the geniuses at 4pm Eastern Thursday. Of all times, this is the worst time to happen with the holiday releases coming up. EDIT: I'm wondering if anyone in this forum or anyone else for that matter own an iPad pro. I'm wondering if the problem occurs on those devices as well.
