I don't have the GC bug at the moment as I recently fixed it with a factory reset and back up from my PC, so I can't provide the stuff in your list. However, number one on the list may not be helpful to you as the bug seems to be effecting devices and not accounts. Some users with multiple devices have GC running on some devices but not others.

    Just an FYI.

I've had (and fixed) the same GameCenter issue twice in the last few days.

Symptoms: No "Welcome..." pop-up ingame. Trying to display the GameCenter overlay doesn't work, it just shows a "please log in" message. Opening the main GC app just displays a white screen.
Opening the Settings app and trying to go to the GameCenter sub menu freezes the app.

I tried logging into my account in the GC Mac app, no problems here.

I can't remember what exactly I did the first time I had the problem, but this time I performed the following steps:
    1. Perform soft reset (holding both Home and Sleep)
    2. Go to Settings > GameCenter
After the soft reset, going to the GameCenter menu in Settings didn't freeze the Settings app anymore.
    3. Open GameCenter app... This took a while, but after 15-20 seconds the interface appeared and everything seemed to work like it's supposed to.
    4. Start game, test GameCenter overlay
Again, like in 3., everything seems to work again.

Next time you experience the problem, drop me a PM before doing any resets. We can capture hopefully some info to help find a permanent fix.

17 days in, still going strong, hoping to cross that nebulous 3 week mark somebody else posted as where it previously fell back apart for them.

So mine was working over 3 weeks until today. I made the "mistake" of turning off the phone and turning back on. Thought I needed to turn phone off/on since my Safari crashed and thought would free up memory. And now GC doesn't load...again!
I was able to turn off/on phone again and have now logged out of GC where I will remain logged out until Apple fixes this mess.
And yes, I will just 'cancel' everytime GC pops up with every GC enabled game.

My ipad GC was working fine until last week. Now I'm logged out of GC there as well. If your game requires GC to play, then too bad for you. I'm done

    What. A. Joke.

I have also become a victim of the dreaded Game Center bug (not signing into games, white screen when opening GC app, freezing on settings). What's really weird / annoying is that there is no rhyme or reason why it's happening because on occasion it works with no workaround being 100% successful.

Eg. I opened Star Wars heroes this morning (which I believe needs GC to open?) and the GC appeared. This hasn't happened for ages. Then I tried opening GC app and it loaded as normal. Just tried again now and it's a white screen again. Restart sometimes fixes issue but not always. Am considering logging out (if I can) until issue resolved. I do think it's software as my iPad working fine with same GC account.

In a way I wish it never worked. Then I would be more inclined to restore. The fact it's intermittent makes me wary of restoring as issue will most likely recur (as I've read from a few users on this thread). It's super annoying and is stopping me from enjoying my games on iPhone. I love achievements and high scores. Think it adds real value to games (particularly older games like FFIX where we can collect new achievements). I hope this gets fixed grrrr!

Update: I got some good logs from JayTay which should help a ton. He also helped me figure out how to get the logs.

If you are experiencing the problem (as the past few posters are) and have time, do the following:

    1. Connect your phone to your Mac
    2. In iTunes select your device at the top
    3. At the very bottom right corner of the iTunes window there is a "Sync" button. Press it.
    4. Once this is done in the finder go up to the menu bar and choose Go > Go To FolderÂ…
    5. Paste this in without the quotes:
    "~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/MobileDevice/"
    6. This should have a Finder window open with 1 or more folders (I have 13 folders for example)
    7. Find the folder that is the name of your device
    8. ZIP up the entire contents of the folder.
    9. Email the contents to me bruce at manuptimestudios dot com

If the file is too big to email, PM me and I'll setup a something to get the file.

The last time I factory restored the Air 2 was about a week ago. I remember that going to a malicious website in the past somehow screwed GC up. Appspy appears to be a malicious site according to my devices. I got a random pop up I could not get rid of telling me to click ok and that I would win a prize. That can corrupt data. Also, if you visit Metacritic, I would do it on a home computer as well. Make sure games that you've downloaded are available for purchase and not just sitting in your previously purchased section in the App Store. The Air 3 could possibly be coming out mid March but a problem that several of us are going through or went through should be fixed already.

Hippieman, it's great you are helping out others here. In case of a problem, will you have advice for PC owners?

From my experience, the settings reset is only a very temporary fix compared to the complete backup/restore route.

I'm not entirely sure of PC steps, but I think these are accurate:

    Windows XP:

    1. Connect your phone to your PC
    2. In iTunes select your device at the top (my apologizes, I have no used iTunes on Windows in a long time)
    3. At the very bottom right corner of the iTunes window there is a "Sync" button. Press it. (Again it might be elsewhere, we just want to perform a sync)
    4. Once this is done find this folder:

    C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\Apple Computer\Logs\CrashReporter\MobileDevice\

    6. Inside this folder should be 1 or more folders (I have 13 folders for example)
    7. Find the folder that is the name of your device
    8. ZIP up the entire contents of the folder.
    9. Email the contents to me bruce at manuptimestudios dot com

    Windows 7 or Vista:

    1. Connect your phone to your PC
    2. In iTunes select your device at the top
    3. At the very bottom right corner of the iTunes window there is a "Sync" button. Press it.
    4. Once this is done find this folder:

    C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\Logs\CrashReporter\MobileDevice\
    6. Inside this folder should be 1 or more folders (I have 13 folders for example)
    7. Find the folder that is the name of your device
    8. ZIP up the entire contents of the folder.
    9. Email the contents to me bruce at manuptimestudios dot com

I did the complete restore by erasing all of the content and settings.

My iCloud is on but I never plugged the refreshed device into the PC. The last time I tried to back things up using a USB cable, nothing was transferred to computer. I don't d/l the games off the computer but on the devices themselves. If there is something that I should/shouldn't do as of now, please tell me. Thanks##

I have another ask of anyone with this bug.

If you can make GameCenter work at all, or if it works on say an iPad or your Mac but not your iPhone, can look up how many games are associated with your account and post the number?

I want to see what's the smallest number of games someone has and is experiencing this bug. Right now the smallest number I have is 301 games.

I literally cleaned up some old games from my gamecenter a couple of days ago (had a ton that I played for less than 5 mins and deleted, so I removed them from GC). I'm sitting at 272 games. But like we talked about in our PMs, my issue was resolved (thus far) after my restore.

My iPhone GC is busted but it works on my Mac. I have 998 games listed and 154 friends.

Another thing that I think may be related to this mess is having Testflight installed and running beta versions of games and/or having games installed from multiple App Store regions.

Can anyone who has the GC bug confirm if they have Testflight versions of games installed and/or any games from App Store's other than your own region's installed?

Also to the people who have successfully fixed GC with a wipe and restore, did you re-install Testflight games and/or other region's games afterwards?

My Game Center has been bust for about a month now aswell but still works on iPhone and Mac yet I only have 34 games on the summary page

I don't currently have a test flight game and it broke before I installed furdemtion 2 and have not used a other regions games for quite a while now. This broke out of the blue for me.

It was fine and j had never heard of the issue untill I read about it in a article here then 2 days later it broke. It must be TA's fault lol
