Here is a fix that has worked for me and I don't see it getting screwed up: I factory reset my iPad Air 2 and kept 9.2.1 (no choice) From other devices or games I have no use for, or are no longer on my devices, I went into Game Center and removed them. I re-installed the games that were on my iPad Air 2 that were already a part of Game Center, and they did not add any new games since they were previously used and stored in the GC app. My GC games went from 1304 to 1271. I have not had a problem since (knock on wood). In terms of doing soft or hard resets, that's only a temporary solution. As for my Air 1, GC will only work once in awhile. Continuing to reset hard or soft will eventually destroy the device. I will eventually factory reset that as well but will wait a few weeks and see if a fix comes out. Thank goodness for iCloud as many games where I lost my progress such as Real Racing 3 or Ashphalt 8 were restored to where I was. It's a pain in the rear to go through this process but it's the only one that makes sense. I believe that Jerutix (sp?) suggested this in a previous post a few pages back. He is correct. Also, don't install more than one game at a time and be careful downloading apps that have been removed from the app store as they may screw it up. Any questions, feel free to ask via pm or response in this thread. It sucks to do a full restore but that's what it takes for a permanent fix, you need to do it! My ipads are not backed up to the computer or to icloud. I don't see the point because of purchase history. I wish everyone luck and hope they are successful. -Don
After 3 weeks Gamecenter Broke again for me, so I did a factory reset again, oh man what a shit is apple doing. If this gets no better I have to stop with IOS gaming, it's hard to stop, but this is so annoying.
Holy crap! Guys do the following Go to setting, general, restrictions. Enable restrictions and enter your passcode twice. Scroll all the way down to Gamecenter and toggle both toggles. Reboot the device Do the above again. Retoggle the two toggles Gamecenter now works in games It's working for me. I can't believe it works. Billy
No joy here. I've pretty much given up. Nothing works for me and I'm not about to restore my phone every few days. What a bummer! Did you leave Restrictions on or off after your reboot? Did you leave the GC toggles on or off. I tried various combinations. Glad it worked for you!!!
I'm concerned about the 3 week deadline. It seems like last time my GC broke after exactly 3 weeks but this was before IOS 9.2.1 as well as my factory restore. Since then all is well since Feb 3. I don't know if I need to take any preventative measures. Calling Apple might be a complete waste. Roger or anyone else, did/do you have 9.2.1 installed after a factory reset? Does GC still work for any of you? I'm concerned that Feb 24th could make it break. I did eliminate numerous GC games directly from GC as well as deleting them. Any suggestions for the future so all continues to be well? Sincere thanks, Donny
My restrictions were off. I've left them on but the Gamecenter ones are off. You toggle them on. Reboot. Then toggle them off and exit settings. Leave restrictions on though. Don't disable the main restrictions toggle. Still working here.
I had the latest update yesterday when I did the factory reset, now it works again, but don't know how long, this is really bad for me because I am so used to Gamecenter that I cannot live without anymore, this sounds stupid coming from a 44 year old Ha ha.
If it is any reassurance, it never effects anybody in the exact same ways, so if it breaks on you again there is no reason to believe you can even remotely estimate a date. 1 week working again so far, but I know darned well, it could end any day and that whatever rituals I partake in have no real confirmed correlation.
Roger, Lordgek, Lordshadowz- Thanks for the helpful insight and suggestions! Fingers will stay crossed. I might try the suggested method on the Air Original where GC is busted and leave the Air 2 working as is. Might wait a bit too and see if the Air 2 GC remains stable.
I really like collecting achievements and high scores. Will they be resynced once the connection is reestabilshed? Or aren't they even saved offline due to the fact that GC is completely broken?
That's based on the game. Some games check achievements every load, but other ones only check when you earn it. I feel your pain, because I missed out on a lot of achievement points due to the issue. I think high scores work the same way.
After months of GC not working I woke up this morning started playing a game and began receiving GC achievements! When I closed the game and went to open GC it opened with no problems. Up to now I have just gotten a white screen when trying to open it. So out of the blue and doing nothing whatsoever GC is now working again. This happen for anyone else?
Careful. While I believe some folk were cured of this plague without having to fully nuke and restore, more often than not the "fixed itself out of the blue" respite is a short one of a few hours to maybe a few days before going back to crap again.
Every now and then Game Center is randomly working for 5 minutes after I have enable background app refresh
Hi Everyone, I'm along time Mac and iPhone developer (Eli can vouch for me) and I'm trying to help get this GameCenter situation resolved. I have resources to look into this. But I do not have the problem being described here, which makes this difficult. Would anyone be willing to volunteer the following: 1. A busted GameCenter username and password 2. Screen shots from different Games not loading GameCenter and just barfing 3. Screenshots from GameCenter app on your iPhone not loading 4. Screenshots from the Settings app showing no GameCenter content loading 5. If you have Xcode installed, would you be willing to pull logs from the device (looking up a non Xcode way to get these logs) This thread is 44 pages long, so if some of this has been gathered I apologize for not seeing it. I've asked Eli to respond to this thread so you know I'm not some crazy nutjob. Anyone who is interesting in some of the above items, let me know (we will probably move this to email for any sensitive information). Believe me, I have a new GameCenter game and knowing it's going to be broken for you guys really depresses me.
I can personally vouch for Bruce (Hippeman) here, I've known him for... Man, I don't even know, a decade or more now I guess if you count being internet forum friends. He used to be a producer at Freeverse and very much was on the ground floor of iOS gaming and has the connections at Apple to escalate this problem to someone who can do something about it. This bug is impacting so many people, it'd be great to get to the bottom of this.
I think you accidentally a word I'd be happy to volunteer all of the above items and have Xcode installed already.
