Pretty much agree with this, especially the leaderboards, it would be boring without beating lazers scores hah.

    1. Really depends. For "hard" games like Super Hexagon, 10 seconds feels long. But for me, the sweet spot is 1-3 minutes long per run.
    2. I did like endless hard games (ie: Super Hexagon, Boson X) more before. But now I appreciate games like Impossible Game or Octagon where there's a defined length. Especially Octagon which has a fixed length, but randomized levels is great.
    3. To me, most of these games are about chasing high scores so I like leaderboards in these types of games. Achievements are a nice bonus, but not really important.

    1) Depends. Something like Super Hexagon or Bitless, bite-sized 10 second levels/runs are great. But a shump or something more involved, I think longer levels would work better
    2) I don't mind endless, but levels offer a definite sense of progression, and you can more easily scale the challenge. As Lazer said, I prefer games to have levels and an endless mode on the side
    3) Achievements and leaderboards don't really interest me, but for the majority, I think leaderboards are a must. Not sure about achievements

Wow, thanks guys - great to hear your thoughts on this.

For me personally, I think what i like about these type of games is actually the short nature of the games - something i can quickly play in bursts while, say, waiting for other stuff (like, on the bus, or tv ad break, or waiting for "oven dinner", etc)!

If a game is really tough - say, impossible and i know this beforehand - that doesn't actually discourage me from playing, as long as its fun and challenging until the point of dying.

Been playing Worm Run lately and i love that game.

Thanks for offering, though to be honest, i'm a bit late for beta testing - my app just got approved today! I'm submitting an app update asap to address some bugs and am just going to release it when thats approved! :)

I consider my shmup boss fight game to be in the "quick, fun and super hard" genre - at least the short and hard bit, i hope people will find it fun nonetheless!

Appreciate any feedback you have for it - its free to play (for the first 5 times, though to be honest, you can delete and reinstall to get another 5 credits to play if you don't want to buy the credit pack). You can find out more with this thread i've just created: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?p=3055561#post3055561

Guys, you have to download cyro.
    1) It's only free today. Tomorrow, it's up to $1.99
    2) It's hard, twitchy, and plays like a cool new take on Duet
    3) Has a lovely minimalist style and awesome level designs

Okay, got to give a shout out to Draw Rider Plus. It's a fantastic game with great dev support, and it's never gotten enough attention here IMO. Bike Baron and Motorheroz may have the most appealing art style, but DR+ is just technical and challenging, with great user content and tons of content in general...and has slow motion decapitations and dismemberment during crashes

Updates have added new levels and worlds, new vehicles, new editor tools, new features; in fact there was a new update today. And there's no IAP
