I was wondering for you guys, what makes a game "quick and hard/impossible genre"? For eg: 1. How long should such a game be? Is 5 mins play (per session/level) too long? 2. Should there be an end game or is it ok to make it impossible to complete/endless? 3. Are game achievements and leaderboards crucial to such a genre? Want to know your thoughts because I'm making a game (a shmup boss fight!) that I consider to be "quick, hard and fun" and would like to hear your general opinion about this "genre". Thank you! Lazer Kat Well-Known Member Sep 29, 2013 2,596 0 0 #520 Lazer Kat, Dec 3, 2013 1) I think 5 minute levels are fine for me, But I'm not sure that would be considered "quick" 2) I think endless is fine, but not necessary. I prefer endless games to have a level based campaign mode, so ideally, I think a game in this genre should offer an endless mode and a campaign mode. 3) yes and no, achievements aren't necessary, but are great to have. Leader boards, IMO, are a must have feature for a good arcade high-score game. Half of the fun is challenging you GC friends scores. (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
