I wouldnt recommend Mini Dash if youre on ipad since you have to use tilt. Slider is unplayable. Seems its too hard for devs to make it movable/resizable....
This. I went to buy it and saw it STILL isn't universal, and there is no HD version. I get Indie devs and their budget restraints. But chillingo should know better.
I've been spending some time on wave trip today and some of it totally confuses me, on one level there is like almost a minute of nothing before any objects come on screen, dunno what you meant to do there, I thought I'd broken it lol. I guess I will pass on mini dash for now also then, so it's between 14px and forget me not. Which games are you all looking forward to putting some time into over the weekend? If I'm on your game centre and have it feel free to send me some challenges (gamecentre I'd is cloudpuff79)
Thats the only two controls? Is tilt any good on a smaller device? I generally don't like tilt platformers.
I haven't tried it, but from reading forum posts people weren't too happy with tilt. I agree, in platformers tilt generally isn't ideal. I have one to add to the thread for consideration: Apple Dash Its a retro platformer that is one of my favorite iOS plaatformers EVER, period. Its tough as nails, has a ton of content, and the devs are amazing. I can't recommend it any higher for someone looking for a tough yet fair platformer with tight, well-done controls, a,aging level design, and fun gameplay...
I'm playing on iPhone 4, put the slider sensitivity up a bit, and I feel it plays well. I've gotten perfect times and collected the mushrooms on the first four levels using the slider. So it think it works pretty good. Buttons would be better, but the slide works
Apple Dash HD: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=204942 There's an SD version also, for only a well-spent buck: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=210243 @bronxsta; @cloudpuff: I think you two will love this game.
Another one I bought at and forgot about, def installing this one today.. Too many games not enough time lol.
Tilt works well, but I just ended up preferring the slider. As a few have mentioned, if you turn the slider sensitivity up you can actually pretend that each end of the slider is a button and use it as if it were just two buttons. I ended up liking the slider for speed control in certain parts of the game.
Apple Dash is my game of the year so far. Had so much fun with it. It's not an easy game, but it's definitely not throw-your-device-at-the-wall tough either. @bronxta there are some gameplay (everyplay) video's in its dedicated thread.
Oh, but I did At least, I three-starred all levels. Still need to high score a few levels to get the last remaining achievements. Played the game for hours and hours. Couldn't put it down. Edit: there are a few levels that are incredibly tough to beat, especially in the Frosty World. Those slippery platforms!
Here's another one that could be a candidate for the list, I haven't tried it, but I'm probably going to. Been an expensive week...what's another buck, right? Tumbling Timmy: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=210138 There's also hidden instruments in the game as well. ;D
One other thing: I didn't like playing Apple Dash on my iphone as it is portrait mode only. But it's a joy to play the game on the ipad.
Two suggestions, both platformers: Little Acorns (speedrunner, looks cute but gets tough) Chocorun (Autorunner, SMB-like)
This thread and the last few weeks of new releases (mostly last week) are going to bankrupt me. Think I need to grab Apple Dash now.
+1 Apple dash is a must own, IMO. I just won a $50 iTunes card at work, so I'm about to go shopping. Idk, I may save most of it...I've spent over $50 the past couple weeks.
93 total right now, if my quick count was accurate. _______________________________________________________________ So...if there was a most anticipated, or coming soon section to the list... VVVVVV I have a feeling this game will shoot to the very top of this list the first day it releases "... I completed the level and was reduced to disturbingly orgasmic cries. I havent felt as good with a videogame, in that direct physical way, for quite a while." - Kieron Gillen, Rock, Paper, Shotgun "One of the best platformers I've ever played." - Anthony Burch, Destructoid 10/10
