Im sorry but i must send a request to close this thread......im spending too much money reading this.
@Duke - Close it.... wait no. stop! leave it a little while longer. No, no, I am sure, close it. Waaaaiiit! One more post. Close. Leave. Close. Leave.... Aaaaaa - manages to toss phone without the help of any game in the thread. The thread itself has become what it talks about ) And yes, started on TA, promoted on Reddit and then it spread
So I tried the browser version of Mini Dash and then bought the IOS version. It reminds me of 14px so that's a very good sign. Seems more focused on speed running than 14px, and it has more overall content than either Pixman or 14px Controls are pretty good. Definitely pick it up if you haven't. You can try the browser version here: www.jayisgames.com/games/mini-dash/
Yes, it is focused on speed runs. And damn, getting to some of the places you need to get to, gets very hard...even if you didn't have to worry about time. It looks cute, but don't let that fool you. It's a hardcore game and the levels/platforming have designs like nothing you've seen before.
Awesome, I love unique level design --- Do you think the Hook games (hookchamp, hook worlds, super quick hook) belong on the list? Also Fastball 2? https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/fastball-2/id376575858
Too bad on ipad its impossible to use slider and dev's answers on games thread were kinda...you know.
Whoever decided to implement a slider instead of left-right buttons...ugh They work but they're not the best
Yeah, I'm not a fan of sliders but got used to it in this game. It was helpful in controlling your speed. But devs should give more control options (of course, there's tilt, but who would want that in a platformer). It's funny how people's opinions change though. I went back through that thread and was blown away at how upset syntheticvoid's was about the dev not wanting to implement another control option because in another more recent thread he was bashing people who were asking for a change to a game saying it was a dev's right to keep the game as they intended (which, really, we are very spoiled on iOS getting devs to make changes where that would rarely if ever happen on other platforms). Anyway, nothing against SV as I've always respected his opinions, it just took me off guard at how he seemed to have the opposite position in another case. Personally, I think devs should give as many options as they can to players, but understand if they don't see it our way. If we don't like it, we have thousands of other games to play. That doesn't excuse a dev if they're rude about it.
That was an...interesting thread to read. So maximum slider settings work just like buttons so I'm cool with that Perfected 1-1. Just spent fifteen minutes shaving my 1-2 time to a perfect 6.78. Damn I love these kinds of games If I were to rank them: 1) Mini Dash 2) 14px 3) Commander Pixman Still debating between which is better or harder, Pixman or 14px, but Mini Dash takes the top spot because of the wonderful art style, fantastic level design, and tons of content
Two more additions to the list: I Am Box and Gyro Both games have a similar premise: you rotate a shape with colored sides to match the incoming colored projectiles. I can't comment on Gyro, but I Am Box is free and hard. My best time is 41 seconds, after dozens of attempts I Am Box is pretty bare bones, but Gyro seems to have more modes and features
I've got wave trip and gave up because it was too hard, but that was before I liked hard games, I'm gonna have to reinstall I think.
Interesting that PG just came out with an article on this subject and think we have all the games on their list: here. Think I need to get Impossible Road.
It's amazing how big this thread has gotten and with increasing popularity of the genre that list is only gonna grow. I came to ask for your opinions, I've got £1.50 left in my account, should I go for forget me not, gyro or strike force heroes?
Forget me not I just went to buy Mini-Dash. Sadly its still not universal. There's no HD version either. No buy.
I've seen tons of praise for Forget Me Not and Strike Force. Nothing much for Gyro Forget Me Not seems more strategic and probably has more content due to randomly generated levels and more modes. Strike Force sounds like a polished runner but might offer the kind of challenge you're looking for from one of these games (Those opinions are purely from forum impressions and reviews, I don't have those games yet) Although I have to ask if you're also interested in platformers and if you have 14px, Commander Pixman, and/or Mini Dash
