Catch 22 - I'm so glad I reinstalled this and got back into it.
This game is designed so well, its such a simple concept, yet it is insanely difficult to get a high core (as you can see on my GC). The thing I like about this game is you know exactly what you need to do, you feel like you can do it, but actually doing it is another story.
These are the kind of challenging games I love. I don't like having to figure out to do as much as the challenge of doing someone you understand but can't accomplish, at first.

I saw on GC there's an achievement that says "gain 10,000 points with just short jumps".
Am I missing something? What's a short jump? It seems to give me the same jump distance if I tap or if I hold (only hold gives multiple jumps).

    Also...

A platformer that is giving me a ton of trouble (mostly the good kind of trouble that keeps you motivated to get farther):

    Agreed, great game

I see you've played 14px. What do you think?

    ---
And to everyone else, anything today/this week that fits here? Space Chicks seems like it has some elements, but I won't know till I actually play it

Edit: DSY is new and improved. The new controls are insanely better than the original scheme, although I'd still like a floating option. Now that I'm actually able to experience it properly, the game is definitely my GOTW

If you hold it in the jump should be longer, it's very subtle but it should be longer, the multiple jump seems to happen as a result of not releasing before it lands as sometime it doesn't multiple jump for me if I realises the finger just before landing.

@bronxsta omg I'm sooooo excited for the beat leap update, I've been checking every day for an update for that.

Found this one which I purchased ages ago, but somehow never got round to playing, it's called kosmo spin and I'm not sure it fits into this category but it reminds of air supply infinate so thought I'd mention for those of you who enjoyed that, it has no iaps, an endless mode and also a quest mode where you complete various tasks to advance to the next level. Universal too. Does get hard and frantic after a little while but that could be me being crap haha

    Nah. Haven't played 14px still.
What makes you think I have?
Because I said I agree with all of kaiboshs imps?
Yeah, I agreed with all of his imps on the games I had played.
14px was one of the only ones I haven't played.

Edit: just looked at list. Haven't played 14px, worm run, and pixman.

Praising 14px some more :D, what I find so cool is how maneuverable you are. Not only can you double jump and move quite fast, you can move any surface even up walls and along ceilings. So this opens up the level design for hazards and challenges not possible in other games

Kosmo Spin is from Simogo. Its their only game I haven't played. Ill be picking this up today, if for no other reason, just to support them in hopes ill get something else along the lines of Year Walk and Device six.
I also love their casual games Beat Sneak Bandit and Bumpy Rd. so I'm sure this will be great.

    So, Orborun or Project 88?
I will be picking up one of these two.
    Leaning towards Orborun.

Orborun. So much as I enjoy 88, I like Orborun a lot more. Feels more polished IMO, because it's stages over endless, and it's really challenging and has great level designs

+1. Orborun will likely be on my nominee list for GoTY (won't be my GoTY, but probably in my top 10).

What is your short list for GoTY?
    Mine, in no particular order:
    Duet
    dot space heroes
    Time Surfer
    year walk
    Rayman fiesta run
    Catch.22
    bit trip run
    Incredipede
    type:rider
    Chicken boy

Which reminds me. DOT Space Heroes deserves a spot on the list

Man, it's going to be tough. I know for sure that Bit.Trip Run will be on mine as well. Rayman Fiesta Run and Type:Rider are likely. For twitch gaming, Boson X will probably also get a nod, even though I still am horrible at it. I'm also sticking to my guns with Sine Mora, while others had control complaints, I still view it as the most satisfying shump I've played. Maybe Indigo Lake for being one of the most engrossing iOS games I've played.

There'll be a ton of other games competing for the other spots.

I couldn't get the hang of beat sneak and deleted as I couldn't get past level three, but I love bumpy road, didn't realise it was the same people, the similar art style must be what drew me to them.

    Badland released 2012
It would be on my list as well, if it released this year.
Cloudpuff, I'd you loved Badland, you HAVE TO PLAY Type:Rider.

Wow, hard to believe that was this year. Seems like forever but it did indeed come out in January.

Anyway, as much as I enjoy hearing others too games of 2013, we might want to stick with the thread topic and save this discussion that will be quickly approaching as the end nears. (And, yes, I admit that I helped derail the thread. Sorry!)
