Lol, that would probably be me. Also if you haven't, try Commander Pixman. There's a lite version. To put it in perspective, I died over 200 times trying to get the three star time on the 9th level...out of 135 (in Pixman). It even has the all-your-attempts-at-once replay style from SMB
From the Reddit thread, someone suggested: Forget Me Not Glitch Tank Critter Panic Nimble Quest Walls of Doom! Impressions on any of those?
Nimble quest is an amazing game, but doesn't belong in this category, IMO. Forget-me-not - I second this Glitch tank - cool game from the guy who did 868-HACK Walls of Doom is the one I suggested at the start of the convo, but its ruined with ads now that actually pop up during gameplay. Edit: this thread has propelled like 5 games into the "hot new games" category now. Happy to see clumsy and the stars up there.
Forget Me Not and Critter Panic (formerly Match Panic) are both iOS classics in my opinion. I haven't played FMN in a long while but it was one of the first games that prompted me to post on TA. Hasn't been updated in a while, though. Critter Panic is perfection. Starts off easy, but gets tougher and tougher to make it to the end of each round. It's made by one guy, and he's super nice. Chaotic Box is the name. Critter Panic has a free version; definitely check it.
Critter Panic is the one on this list I hadn't tried. Downloading free version now: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/critter-panic/id588167668?mt=8 I haven't tried 14px yet. I don't like platformers that are Hard for the sake of being hard, and as a result are more frustrating than they're worth. Is 14px fair, and made well? Edit: three minutes with Critter panic. I'm hopelessly addicted.
About 14px, it's definitely well made, with excellent level design and an array of hazards from gravity switches to shuriken turrets. Timing and precision is what you need to succeed. I didnt feel like it was ever unfair, just really challenging
Wow I can't believe I forgot this: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/drop-possible-pong-style-musical/id725550044?mt=8 Critter panic is a great game Its so simple, but its designed to really get you in your groove and then throw you off. Great game. EDIT: I'd also like to add Geometry Dash and Groove Coaster. Groove Coaster is one of my favorites. It isn't hard at first, but it ends up being very challenging. Groove Coaster: (I think there's a free version too) https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/groove-coaster/id442689429?mt=8 I have an idea. So, all of us who are participating in this epic thread should vote for our top 5. We can give our number 1 five points, 2 four points, 3 three points, etc. Then we could easily come with a TA meta-hardest-game-Top 5. My list: 1) Boson X 2) Duet 3) Impossible Game 4) Cannabalt 5) Catch 22
I love those tangled type games, I have a version that's minimal and only a small mb size, but I'm not sure how difficult it gets in comparison to yours.
Stay away from walls of doom, there is no option to remove ads and they are very intrusive popping up during gameplay, which gets you killed. It's a shame, I'd happily pay to get rid if the ads but sadly can't.
That pong one looks good, dloading now, have also got the free version of critter panic to try along with mos speed run. Too many games lol.
Added Forget Me Not, Glitch Tank, Critter Panic, Pix N' Love Rush, Bit.Trip.Run, Bit-1, Tangled, MultiMaze, Dinky Ball, DROP POSSIBLE?, and Groove Coaster to the list
Haven't ranked them yet, but these are definitely in my top 4: Super Hexagon Duet 14px Hundreds And then the fifth is going to be one of these: Boson X, Impossible Road, Wingdot, DSY, Boost 2, Pixman Still deciding which and how to rank
Good top-of list... I'd personally have something similar, but with Polara, 774 Deaths, Duet and Octagon somehow added in the mix. I think i'll try making my own 5 too. This'll be hard. LOL
I'm sort of reaching here, but they're simple and difficult... QWOP, Incredipede, and Backflip Madness Backlip Madness is very hard until it clicks, and then its not too difficult...until the last stage. Incredipede can be infuriating trying to 100% complete. QWOP is...well QWOP is QWOP.
Ha, I just mentioned this on the last page. Definitely, I think. Simple controls, challenging, addictive, minimalist, tests your reflexes QWOP maybe, but I don't think the others fit
I got a soft spot for platformers, which is why 14px is my number one 1) 14px - fantastic hardcore platformer, with excellent level design. Went with this over Pixman, because the levels are more open and interesting and have more varied hazards 2) Super Hexagon - a classic, and still hard as hell 3) Hundreds - might not seem like a twitchy reflex game at first, but holy shit it is. 4) Duet - stylish, nice mix of levels and endless, and insanely challenging yet zenlike 5) Wingdot - SH level of challenge, polished with cool obstacles and great style and charm Honorable Mentions: Fireball SE - So intense threading through the tightest gaps at the last moment and I find the way the enemies move and converge so fluidly quite satisfying to watch Edge Extended - started playing this again last night, absolutely amazing, challenging, fast, inventive Pixman - IMO, tied with 14px as the best SMB-style platformers on IOS DSY - haven't played enough to form a well-rounded opinion, but if the first six levels are any indication, the game is another classic
