Computers of old were sometimes slow, so would a game be more enjoyable if long delays are inserted between turns?
I wonder if those of us who are old enough to have played the computer games of the 1980s in the 1980s are less inclined to romanticize the past. Some things are better now; high-resolution, more legible text is one of those.
I grew up with an old Apple, complete with Dungeon Master, King's Quest, Space Quest, Defender of the Crown and a copy of Leisure Suit Larry that, had I put in the time to figure out, I'm not sure I'd have been allowed to play at all. My first console of my own was an NES. My neighbor asked for a 2600. I asked for a Nintendo because I wanted the robot. My neighbor got the 2600. I forgot what I got that year. Next year, I asked for a 2600 and got a Nintendo. I'm going on 35 this year, and I regret having gotten rid of my oldies back in the day to constantly trade up. Now I can have them all in the palm of my hand. We can argue all day why I might have an opinion that's not yours, maybe there's an expert on the matter somewhere to consult. At the end of it all, I only made a small, trivial suggestion.
Hmm, I played Wizard's Crown a lot on Apple II and I don't remember swapping disks. But it's been a long time, maybe I've forgotten.
I as well grew up with those titles. I had an Atari 800 and the different resolution with the font was actually an inherent feature with many of those games. Programs could set the resolution for certain horizontal rows, giving a program the ability to have a higher resolution font. Plus as mentioned before... the ease of reading. I realize that the font shown is still far less rez than an iphone font, however the same basic idea is there. I am very greatful for the other 99% you like. At least you are not the kid who emails me everyday wanting to listen to his Jay-Z in itunes while playing my game. I can consider making an option to change the font. Having a hard time wrapping my head around the itunes request. thanks again for all feedback! And Wizard's Crown, wow! What a blast from the past!
Yeah, don't get me wrong, I'm totally enjoying Questlord, gave it five stars on iTunes, and it's the sort of game I want to see more of. I mentioned loving the graphics because they took some criticism earlier on. I'll be buying its sequel.
Baron Cappuccino: oh thanks! No worries, I just wanted to explain the reasoning, it was something that I actually had going. (and boy was it hard on the eyes with the jagged font). I am thinking now that a Settings/Font Type might be a really cool feature going forward. :/ seiji: Spoiler In the first level of Crimson Caverns, although you need to go all the way down to the bottom level, then over to the west, then travel back up. It is in the Northwest section of the map( upper left )
I know Questlord was supposed to draw inspiration from the earliest dungeon crawlers, but it reminds me most of Elder Scrolls: Arena.

In the same area; look at world map to see holes in mountains... Spoiler Crimson Caves should be just south of the Norrab citadel
Very nice front page tips section! QuestLord is a quality game so hopefully that pulls a few more people toward it!
So looking through the thread for suggestions I'm going to ask about leveling for my specific situation. I see a lot of people have had some troubles Spoiler with the Bah-Lorn , myself included. Spoiler I know there's a way to kite them around and fireball the heck out of them, as well having a good armour/weapon combo is useful too. I've got pretty good gear from what I can tell, and I do well in combat (I'm a terrible caster) but I feel that I'm probably a bit too low in level to be taking some of the higher level mobs on. What I'm really hoping someone has a suggestion for, is either a good place to go level up a bit more, or an idea for a zone I should be working on more appropriate to my level, instead of charging head-first into danger, Spoiler i.e. the Bah-Lorn . There may even be a quest area that I've totally passed up that can fill me out in levels a bit more, so any suggestions are super appreciated. Thanks in advance by the way, I'm really in love with this game. It's made me want to go back and re-start a new character on the Quest as well, like I've seen others say here on this thread. This is my character, in a nutshell, and what he's working with (spoiler tagged just in case): Spoiler Lv 10 Life: 160 MP: 10 (shameful, I know) Bravery: 30 Cunning: 17 Knowledge: 5 Attack: 85 Defense: 104 Guardian Helm (Att +2 Pwr: 18) Steel Plate (Pwr: 40) Steel Shield (Pwr: 20) Steel Terror Boots (Att +4 Pwr: 16) Great Sword (Pwr: 45) Wanterfang Cloak (Att +4 Pwr: 5) Defender Amulet (Def +8 Pwr: 1) Miraculous Ring (Regen HP/MP Pwr: 6) or Death Smasher Ring (Att +8 Pwr: 1) Completed Quests: Spoiler The Necromancer Tools of the Trade Varzoth's Evil Tower Defilers Giant of a Quest Planning for the Worst Scepter of Power Jewel of Theralst Possessive Possessions Open for Business Plumbing Problems Freedom of the Forest Rites of Passage Gem of Errask
Thank you undeadcow! And thank you sushibox for that awesome data!!! You must also realize that there is an 'old school' quest that is not going to be given to you directly by the QuestLog. This quest, guards the last 'modern' quest (Modern as in design, i.e.shows you on the map). Off the top of my head, it looks like you are missing the Runes of Deceit. So there are a lot of monsters there to help you level up and you also need to go there (Threzdin Swamps!) for the 'old school' quest. Again, the old school quest is only going to be given to you through dialogue/hints and you will never really obtain it, you just sort of do it. (dont worry about those Bah Lorn until you are told to directly in a quest) Happy Questing!
Finding Your way to these places Also The map icon under 'How To Play' will show you this... http://www.questlord.com/instructions/ShatteredRealm.html very handy to learn your way around and perhaps find a place you have not been to yet!
Wow, I sure haven't been active in this threred! Can someone give me some tips on how to kill Spoiler the bah-lorn(s) ? I've been stuck around that area for soooooo long. Edit: oops, sorry, didn't see someone else had already asked that! Anyway, now I can go off to do more questing! I think I'm getting addicted.. Again!
